"This typewriters an antique. Now if Bea Smith decides to take up typing again...they'll probably give her an IBM" 🤣🤣🤣 Fiona Spence at her best as always
How on earth did Fiona Spence (Vera) perfect that smirk? She had more than one version of it but every one was so awesome. I think I mentioned in a previous comment that I grabbed a hand mirror and tried to duplicate it but I could not get remotely close. It just amazes me because when she does her hair down/off work persona she is so completely different. A character to absolutely love to hate.
You need to get out more
Samisowhat Sothere I want you to show me that smirk 😁😁😁😁😁🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
@@FugaziQueen Unnecessary
She does it brilliantly, there is comedy in it.
She's not as bad as Ferguson.
The lady wanted to make a complaint about the way her mother was treated by Mrs, Jackson but she never made a complaint about her daddy abusing her mother 🤔
Wasn't aware they serve up hot boiling acid at lunch times.
😂
Sharon Gilmore comes back as Terrie, the prison officer (Joan Ferguson's bit of muff) lol.
Only us cellblock freaks would know that.
😂😂@@sean5990
Lizzie reminds me of that 100 year old leather glove or belt. The one that never snaps and just somehow lasts an extra 20 years.
Our local news reader who announced what programs were coming up next once referred to Lizzie as having a face like a melted Welly/candle lol I've used that phrase ever since he also called the show as the wobbly walls of Wentworth due to the naff scenery 😂😂
@@tracylangsley4064 they always keep saying that. I've never caught it even once. When do the brick walls wobble around?
@@hectorrico8661 it's usually when they close office doors you can sometimes see the tip of the microphone above them too one time was at the bbq for Lizzie you could see it lol
@@tracylangsley4064 Once I saw the original doctor with the black haired girlfriend who was all refined. They were talking somewhere and you see the "boom mic" just barely dangling there. 😂
@@hectorrico8661 I remember that too🤣
I remember when this was first aired, the TV guide seemed to have a real problem with Judy's actress, or her name, any way. In the cast list, she was Betty Babbit, Betty Bubbat, Betty Robbit, & even Betty Rabbit, before they finally got it right. Was quite amusing to look each week to see what new name they came up for her
Bea/Val has a horror movie scream!! She totally could have been in an old slasher movie!
scream queen bea lol ... love it xxx
Fiona Spence really should have had a go at dead-pan stand up comedy, she clearly has the timing for it
Darren Forrester I agree!!! she's amazing!
Colette Mann said on an ABC radio interview that Fiona Spence is one of the funniest women she's ever known. ua-cam.com/video/eBryjgZwS18/v-deo.html
Fiona Spence is one of my most favorite actress'.
She really is awesome isn't she@@sheriheffner2098
'Either wonky Warner is back....' 😂. Oh Bea!
That line was so Deadpool breaking the fourth wall, I cry laughing every time I hear it!
Good to see Judy finally making her appearance, one of my favourite characters !
And, here's the lovely Betty Bobbit, the sweetest American Aussie ever in an 80's Aussie Prison soap opera.
Welp I'm on my third go round of binge watching this series n the mother n daughter characters haven't got any less annoying😂
Aww Judy! One of the nicest people ever to come into Wentworth! Pity about her poor judgement in girl-friends though. :)
Perhaps Bryant should have picked "women" instead of "girls" less than half her age. She would have had better luck. There is an episode, during which, Bea, tells Judy this very thing!!!!
You mean poor judgement about EVERYTHING..
@@cyuiyuwyguiyui
Exactly! Especially when it comes to Maxine & Hazel.
I loved Judy my favorite one in the show and I loved Bea and Lizzie too
I'm so glad Mrs Davidson put Caroline in her place she is so rude and up herself
First appearance from Judy Bryant (actress Betty Bobbit). Judy was a great character her hair goes greyer over the years showing that her character had been in Wentworth for a long time.
The show is only on for another six and a half years though, not that long. Interesting that this episode was broadcast in the same month that Betty Bobbit turned 40, although it was probably filmed a few weeks earlier when she was 39.
Andy yeah she def went grey VERY quickly in real life!
With fear of getting stoned by the hardcore fans 😂I was never a fan of Judy :( her storylines were either boring or darkly depressing. For eg Driscoll house 💀 lol. I know I'm in the minority
@@reoreborn I'm definitely in a minority in liking the Driscoll House episodes with Tony & Maxine and the diverse characters that came and went (apart from that awful Greek woman). The 2-table cafe bit at Driscoll is exactly the sort of coffee house that appeals to me! (can't stand Starbucks and the like). Sadly, Judy's character was in the series far too long. It's hard to reconcile the Driscoll House version of Judy with the one who seemed to sleepwalk her way through her latter episodes once she was back inside. She was at her very best when Wally was her sidekick. Once what happened to Pixie happened, the Judy character seemed to lose any focus. Which is a shame. Like being relegated to a bit-part player.
Ha ha love how Meg takes that girls finger prints. You're supposed to roll the finger not just press it on for half a second lol
Uppity Caroline, whining Vivian and bloody Sharon with her put on "little girl voice" would have to be the worst lot of prisoners who came in at the same time in the history of the show.
And here we go.. The last few dying gasps before Judy appears into the series. I liked Judy's character and indeed storylines for quite a while. But to be honest she hangs around for about 400 too many episodes.
Hush your dirty gums I love Judy and wished she was in more are u sure you’re not talking about your pathetic life being so long and too many years !
I love the sly remarks from Vera shell need state financing to get you off lol
Oh look Beas husband is alive and well in the pub!!!!
This is the actor's 3rd "Prisoner" role already! (and we haven't seen the last of him) He also played the guard overseeing Pat's visit to Davey at Pentridge.
Years ago we didn't notice as the episodes were spaced out or maybe not all played in sequence..hilarious now, Bea's hubby played about 4 different characters, Was on UTV and ITV in the UK in the 90s 🇬🇧
He won't move on.
Sharon gilmore is on the scene you know what that means don't you?................. JUDY BRYANT HERE SOON 😄😄😄😄 yaaaay Judy
This episode was written by George Mallaby (who plays Paul Reid).
Bev & Lil also make their debut.
Love this little exchange he wrote:
PAUL: "Hello, Miss Bennett."
VERA: "Oh, good afternoon, Mr. Reid. I'm afraid I owe you an apology."
PAUL: "Oh?"
VERA: "I've been telling everyone that you were employed here full time!"
The wonderful Judy makes her entrance
I can just rember this this eipsode cos it was central tv while i was visting family in nottm cos it was the summer hols it got me hooked could not stop watching but when went back home we did not get it on granda tv for years later
That would have been Saturday 21st November 1987 according to this site: www.wwwentworth.co.uk/epis091.htm
Bea, Lizzie and Judy were my top 3 favorite inmates and in later episode and Rita, Minnie and Cass became my favorites!
Look at Vivienne's googly eyes! She's a hoot! Poor Vivienne is shaking. Get her a doctor! Doreen should tell Kevin: I live at the halfway house.
Judy's by far one of my most fav characters
enter judy Bryant that became one of the favourite characters alongside lizzie, bea and doreen
All hail Judy the Jail Whale!!
I like Judy's humour - she gets some of the best lines of the whole series
seems evryones real pleased this judy character has shown up. im suppose shell grow on me, but i have to say she sucks on first impressions. and what is her accent supposed to be lol?
@ Tony Boleno: Judy is American, Tony. Betty Bobbitt, who portrayed her, was born in Philadelphia but has lived in Australia for almost 60 years and is now an Australian citizen.
yeah! for sure.
“I suggest you go back to your cell and consider your true status here” 💅🏽
11:42 this other officer looks like remake vera!🤣
Tony is a liar! He smoked it and paid for the second lot wtf
Oh Sharon there's a dark cloud over your head........
It's name? JOCK STEWART!
Angela Pay jock Stewart 😱oooooh that voice of his reaaaaaalllly makes a shiver run right up my spine 😨😨😨
Nikki Derricott Tommy Dysart (Jock Stewart) plays a great part & really put the chills up me whilst watching PCBH as a youngster back in the day. 😱
JUDY! I've seen the actor who plays Judy in other things and she's a lovely lady.
Funny to see Lizzie in normal clothes
Sharon ends up as the freaks girlfriend as a different character
The next time Judy sees that officer will be in the Halfway House as a former inmate who is always drunk
An episode written by the great Paul Reid himself!
So that's why him and his boring son take the centerline.
@@bernadettelamb54 OMG his son is probably the most boring character in the PCBH history.
@@Jarvamon No, that honour belongs to Kerry Vincent.
He's a better writer than actor.
Vera (said with love):
She gonna live or die, or what?!?
Bahahahaha
Vera’s on a roll today. Her interaction with Mr. Reid is funny.
That entire weed scene was hilarious
dee looks like the phantom of the opera with that burnt face loving prisoner x
Sharon is appearing to be a troublemaker already. She hasn't done herself any favours by getting on the wrong side of the top dog before she has barely settled in the place. Bea was not at fault over the soup incident and so should not have received that ridiculous and unnecessary lecture from Erica regarding her conduct. Erica is far too quick to point the finger at Bea and all too often its without a justifiably good reason. It really is about time she improved her sense of judgment and just realised that because Bea is top of the heap, she is not always at fault when incidents happen.
Bea started it actually and WAS at fault and also deserved the soup in her face. Sharon was defending herself and while her actions are not to be excused, she did not do anything prior to throwing the soup. She did what anyone would do if they was being violated - stand up to them or let them . She stood up to Bea who violated her. Sense of Judgement is based upon insight, and understanding and well as the curtailing of ones own personal opinions and feelings.
Shadegat3 Totally agree.
Shadegat3 But she did call Bea zollaweetoquala 😁😁🏃🏃🏃☹️
Erica finds Bea threatening.
Ahhhh, bring on Judy Bryant
I loved seeing Erica giving Caroline a few home truths.
The worst prison Governor in all of history telling off a woman who killed someone to save her mother's life? Yeah you go Erica! I like Caroline's character personally. And nice to see Jimmy getting a bit of action with her later also.
Doreen looks really pretty in this episode.
Bea's lucky that hot soup didn't blind her in one eye.
Judy Bryant? That name sounds familiar :-)
Dor and Kev going to see 2001-A Space Odyssey blows my mind
The officer that Judy speaks to is later a stoner guest of Driscoll house that Judy runs!
This episode written by George Mallaby - who plays Paul Reid.
The mother and daughter are unbearable! The absolute worst!
11:52 I love Vera "Do-gooder academics" hahhaha 17:01 oh oh - Bea is gonna get ya! 19:45 Here comes Judy Bryant! 34:24 Second time someone burned Bea
Is that "reid, reed, or read?"
In casual social situations, who asks people how they spell their name?
Vera should be glad it's not "Chopper" Read!😂
To think Judy was in love with a woman like Sharon blows my mind.
The cafe where Paul and his dolls head of a son were chatting seemed to be callled 'Transylvania'? I can make the proud boast that I have been out with an actual woman who was born and raised in Transylvania. (Romania.) I've mentioned this in passing to people in the guild thing in my MMO that I play all the time. To be sometimes met with amazed comments from Americans, that they thought it was a fictional construct. lol
Following the next question.....is she a vampire 🧛♀️
Dear me, don't tell me we've disposed of dear Daddy and we can't collect? 🤣🤣🤣 What an amazing delivery of a sarcastic line. Actress is now an agent. What a great loss to the acting world.
At 19:20 you see a shadow of a mircophone pass over the back of Erica's head
Hoorah, Judy's arrived
That reid's house is so dark and dreary
Welcome to 1970s interior fashions.
It matches their personalities.
VERA: You'd sleep alright if you had a conscience!
Actually, I thought you were supposed to sleep well if you had NO conscience.
Yay, Here comes Judy :-)
I think my comments got 'et' once again so I will re-post and apologize if they end up being repeated.
But I could not let two lines of absolute Comedy Gold go unremarked:
Bea: "Either Wonky Warner's back or she been giving crying lessons on the outside."
Vera talking about Paul Reid: " Do gooder academics. And we are the patsys ho have to straighten up their foul ups with a little good old fashioned discipline." (Smirk firmly in place, of course.)
When the mother and daughter entered the prison i wanted Vera reading her rights etc etc.. Can you imagine vineger loving life while the mother breaks down 😂😂 The acting from the mum is shockingly shocking right through. Its bloody hilarious.
Crackin' body on Sharon 👌
Thats a nasty looking burn on Bea. 😨
I see Erica got herself a new sling.
Welcome Judy Bryant.
What's the definition of bad acting? Serious question.
@@ajs41 It's purely subjective! Making judgements on acting. Cause we don't personally know the actors, and have nothing else to compare their performances in pcbh against! In most cases.
Judy.....clap clap clap....Whoooo
That mother is a nightmare!
Chrissy wasn't showing last episode now she's wearing a maternity frock and is huge
Better than "Mum Brooks'" granddaughter, Judith Ann! She was pregnant for nearly 2 full seasons!!! About 18 mos. or thereabouts... Give it another watch. She announces her pregnancy to her grandmother months before Mum is granted parole... Then we have the drawn-out story of Karen still running, but now she is out on parole and living with Angela. Put them together and it's clear that Judith Ann was pregnant for a very, very long time!!
wonder... maybe shes an elephant in disguise??? their gestation period tis 18 - 22 months depending on the kind lmao
davet chrissy has been showing a bump for quite a while now and maternity dresses make u look bigger coz u have to always allow room to grow otherwise ud have to buy new ones every two weeks!!!
Bea would never last in this day as about 75 o/o are in on drug charges.
Seen how different Judy looks here, sh puts some weight on towards her final episodes.
Erica: “monotonous predictability” lol
Vera and Bea; "10:15" excellent dialogue. Bea- either Wonky Warner is back😂😂😂.
Haha the drug sale and bust was hilarious .ive unfortunately been in a couple and this isn't how it happens .also who left the bloody door unlocked during a drug deal 😂
Lol. Yes. A friend of mine told me the Cops were always making the mistake of going next door instead a few times & when they eventually got the right house they weren't as polite. The Cop s don't just stand there & look at everybody, everyone's trying to get out a window or something or hide in the attic.
Blimey, the soup from Wentworth, must be piped direct from the middle of the sun, it burnt Monica Ferguson and Beas face!!! 🌞
It's not his fault dear😱. Those words make my ears bleed 😞
pay for the coffees and buy yourself some lunch on $2? if only that would pay for it now lol
17:45 hahha bea and what she says viviane walk in room bea says "eh whats that" hahahh
I agree, I had not seen her earlier episodes until today
Could you just imagine watching 2001, with Doh-Reen. 🥺🙄🤯🤣😁!
9:10 bea's not gonna happy... 😬
We can tell Paul Reid wrote this episode considering him and his boring whiney son are the centre of it.
If he only knew how many people skip those boaring scenes, with his son.
"can't i stay with my mother "😂
OH YES! It's Sharon! This means Judy is on her way! LOVE IT!
Can't remember these episodes...think I only ever saw season 1 when it was re run! Truly addicted to them
vera cracks me up........"is she going to live or die or what?"
do australians really say "quieten down"?
yes we do say quieten down. and quietening, as in she was quietening down. never thought about it before.
We say it in the UK as well, although usually only teachers to children at primary school.
What the hell happened to Doreen's hair? At 35:11 she looks like she's just stepped out of a salon yet, by the time she's gone home and supposedly got ready to go to the pictures with "Kivin" (37:30), she looks like she's been dragged through a hedge backwards 😆
That Wlliams mother is a real sad sack. She is probably going to mourn her late husband as if he was the most saintly man who ever lived.
Judy looks different on her first appearance.
She wears her hair down long for a couple of early episodes while she’s in prison, it’s beautiful! But then it’s all tied up in the same exact do for the remainder of the series..
Between Dor and Mrs Williams I don't know who's the better one at crying. They do a pretty convincing job. They even make me want to cry.
Their acting makes me want to cry too
"Hey what's that" LOL
wow Sharon was brave attacking bea in the dining room
welcome Judy
Good book lucy On " On The Outside " it's called. i bought it a few months back.
That over zealous plain clothes cop at 1:04😂
The way he points that gun is the funniest thing I've seen for a long time. I'm sure he must have been deliberately being silly with that pose.
Bea is looking a little red haha
When the house was raided, the girl sat next to Tony was blatantly brandishing a huge bag of weed. The cops can easily refute Tony's claims of ignorance.
Sharon Gilmore has a look of Jennifer Beals (Flashdance. L Word).
Lamp Shade There would also be resin on his finger tips from the joey he was toking on
I agree about Sharon resembling Jennifer Beals.
I'm Lamp Shade
There's something about the way Erica Davidson looks that reminds me of Margaret Thatcher...
They were roughly the same age.
7:22 - "You don't believe me, do you?" - well you are lying after all.
33:14 - Gotta say, Caroline has beautiful eyes
I know instead of sedatives for Vivienne give her a barbiturate!!!! Now that's entertainment!
The only thing wrong with the mother Williams was a case of bad acting when she was admitted
and here comes our jude
Bryant's biggest downfall: Her interest in girls the age of her daughter, who shows up later on in the series!! She should try and find a woman instead of a girl!! Judy Bryant is an "ok" character, however, her choice in female company is revolting and very sad! She treats Sharon The Bitch as if she is her "daughter" not her lover. She treats Pixie the same way later in the series. She tends to pick young girls. I wonder if this bad habit was meant to have anything to do with the character Bryant giving up her child for adoption??
Paul Reed mentioned Adelaide something you won't hear modern television people doing
Someone has commented on here comparing that mad crazy mother to Sir Lawrence Olivier - yea right. Not sure where to find that comment now as I read it a few years ago and can’t remember which episode it was commented upon.
Now get back to work, all of you!
Said for the trillionthed time!! Change the record Vera.
