- It's been a long journey but we can finally get her off the axle stands and on the road down to the paint shop. In this episode we can fit the bonnet actuators, replace a bent support strut, top up the automatic gearbox/transmission fluid and lightly fit the front bumper.
Would've been really helpful to show the installation of the actuators. I had a minor collision a few weeks ago and the bonnet is dented just above the driver headlight, also misaligned and won't close.
Hello,
great job you have done !!!
Just one question: how did you fill and flush the cooling system ??
I've read on technical documentations that you have to use a computer to make the electric water pumps works if you want to fill the all cooling system perfectly and if you want to be sure that the flushing operation is OK !!!
I haven't seen this part on your vidéo !
michel angot Hi Michel
I was in a position to not have to flush the system as all the parts were clean and either new or in very good shape.
If I were to flush the system, I would just take out the bottom hose of the main radiator and make sure I topped up with fresh water a few times and run the engine until it got to optimal temperature. Then report the process a couple of times.
I kind of did that with all the leaks I had!!
@@NowWeDrive Thank you for your answer.
In fact, if I understand well, these cooling systems can be flush the " old way ".............no need to make the electric pumps running to be sure the liquid goes everywhere.
Running the engine is enough !!
Interesting you tube clip, I have done a few cars and it is surprising how much the small plastic parts cost new when you cant find second hand. It would be nice if you mentioned what the parts cost you roughly so we can be shocked with you at the prices. Looking forward to next projects on your channel..
Hi Jeremy, Thanks for the comment. This JCW project has been not only very lengthy but pretty costly. BMW Mini parts are not cheap and most of the time i was happy to buy 2nd hand, in most cases it was either not a viable option with the prices being close to the new parts but also being a F56 JCW, not many of them are broken so parts were scarce. I will do a full costs breakdown once i get the project finished.
I would have been in the garage from day 1 with the heater on
Once you get moving about, its not that bad!!
Hi did you sell the juke or the other 500
Hi Ged, yes i sold both. The juke was quite hard to sell to be honest. Started it at £6.5k but had to keep dropping it down until I got £5250 for it. The white fiat 500 sold for £2500. So a small profit on the Juke and close to brake even on the 500.
Good ....are u going a video of what u made on them
@@gedgriffin6620 That's the plan although the this JCW project has taken up much of my spare time plus Xmas as well...
I'm enjoying your videos what equipment are you recording with?? The quality is great
Hey Reginald. Thanks for the great feedback. Equipment-wise I use my Iphone X running at 4k 24fps with a £20 Rhode lavalier clip mic. Then I edit all of this in Final Cut Pro X. I am no video editor but been watching lots on YT for tips and tricks on FCPX (mostly Primal Video & Marcos Rocha) to help in getting the best possible content I can with the very limited knowledge I have.
