- We're back at it. Soldered vs. Solderless.
There are pros and cons to both cable types.
Solderless is typically a smaller plug so it can fit into tight spaces better than a soldered plug can. They are also easy to make and require minimal tools.
Soldered is cheaper, more reliable, more flexible and today we're challenging whether it is also QUICKER to make a soldered cable than a solderless equivalent.
The catch... I'm putting my time up against yours. Can you make a solderless cable quicker than my soldered cable time?
Give it a shot. Post your time below or tag @goodwoodaudio on instagram with a video of you making a soldered or solderless cable along with your time. Don't forget to include testing the cable as well!

That's quicker than I can order one, lol. Nice job.
haha
If I had $1 for every time he said “soddered”, “sodder”, or “sodderless” I think I’d be able to swing a new pedal!
old habits die hard... even incorrect ones! ha.
Laying cable in under two minutes? Yea, I can do that.
haha
Probably not!
haha.
I’m sure I’m around 3 minutes. But it’s well worth it. Friends don’t let friends use solderless cables!
@@JazzRockswithAdam exactly!
Square plugs take longer (because of the screws). I like Evidence solder-less for small boards (4 patches), however, not a fan of solid wire. With 14 pedals on my main pedalboard definitely soldered. I sand & tin leads & wire so it would take me at least another minute.
Awesomely fast soldering technique. I use both, but gradually replacing with soldered, but it takes much more than 2mins to make a cable.
I agree with all your points and want to add one. When you rearrange or rebuild your board, if your run lengths change, solderless are very easily cut down to a smaller size. Eg moving from top-side to a top-top can be a much shorter cable.
nice!
