You have no idea how grateful I am for this video. I’ve lost count of how many times I tired this quest only to be obliterated by the ruin guard before I could take out a single hilichurl or abyss mage. Thank you so much!!
ok the abyss mages teleport to ur location but theres another trick to this... 1. go to the cliff in the opposite direction 2. go to the highest point 3. kill the guys in this order: (ruin hunter thingy, hydro mage, cryo mage, and the hilichurls) RECOMMENDED CHARACTERS: -anyone with a bow -electro -pyro -anemo
I really appreciate the simplicity of characters and method on this one, a lot easier for players like me without any of the other fancy characters. I ended up using Sara because I saw someone use Fischl on one of their own runs. I don't think this affected much but I was unable to hit the weak point for most attacks. Not hitting the weak point allowed it to come straight to the base of this area and it did kill Sara a few times, but nothing too bad as I had enough items to heal. Finally this weight that I've had for months is lifted.
It took me so long to beat this but basically this is what worked for me: Eliminating the abyss mages first (i tried doing the ruin hunter first initially but the mages would teleport to me anyway and then the ruin hunter would approach and things went horribly) So basically i went and stood up on the hill opposite the one in the video (it has a ridge kind of thing at the top so if the ruin hunter does spot you you can always hide behind it so the missiles dont reach you) and sniped the cryo and hydro abyss mages with amber (who was only doing like 200 per charged shot) make sure to start shooting them once they are away from the ruin hunter otherwise it could become active (it took so long tho i think 30 minutes per abyss mage they regenerated their shield like 20 times easy but that was okay the ruin hunter didnt wake up thats all that matters) After the abyss mages are gone now you wanna charge in (btw you can teleport and then come back the enemies you have killed wont respawn so make use of this however if you leave game or disconnect before killing all opponents you will have to go through the entire ordeal again happened to me like thrice dont worry about me i didnt feel like smashing my head against the wall or anything) So what i did was i went in with noelle for shield and started targetting the hilichurls the ruin hunter will attack you but dont bother about it rn you can come back for it later kill as many hilichurls as you can and then when your character dies go back heal, return and repeat until all the hilichurls are gone now you wont have some randos messing you up Now its just you and the ruin hunter so basically the ruin hunter's aerial mode gets triggered if your character is above a certain height and when it is in flight mode you can shoot its glowing eye to shut it down so thats what we are gonna be aiming for Now in order to manually trigger it you can either hold Venti's E to fly up and then instantly disembark and get ready to shoot or Wanderer's E skill to the same effect and then quickly switch to a bow user but both of these methods require quick reflexes because if you take too long the ruin hunter will start shooting missiles at you and they do massive damage you dont want that Now what if you have neither Venti nor Scaramouche well you can climb on top of the ruin pillar things that are scattered all over the place and the result would be the same or you can use geo traveller's rock construct thing climb on top of it that also works Now you should have the ruin hunter down if things went according to plan (you dont have to be super accurate when you shoot genshin usually accepts a slight deviation in the trajectory of the arrow so dont spend too much time aiming i used to struggle with this sooo ahah) now you just want to spam skills and elemental bursts and just thoroughly beat it up (keep doing this until there are 0 ruin hunters left may the winds guide you) You can also go for the frozen method where you keep freezing the ruin hunter and attacking it (i didnt defeat this particular one this way but in general it works pretty well) although you would need a cryo applier who can uses a bow or like autotracks like with Diona (Rosaria's e skill doesnt seem to work Kaeya's seems to work half the time but the other time not so much so am not sure if he is your best bet) but yeh best of luck aaa

So first of all I got my first five star recently which is yelan but if you don’t have a five star that’s ok I just recommend using higher leveled characters. So in my team I used lvl 40 Yelan, 50 traveler, 47 chongyun and 44 noelle. I recommend using a hydro and cryo character so you can freeze the ruin hunter thing and buy yourself more time. If you are new you can bring Barbara or kaeya. Next if you have noelle I definitely recommend her since she has a shield and that will save you some health and time. Ok so first you need to kill off the abyss mages first. You can easily do that by by using a bow character and shooting them afar so that it triggers them but not the ruin hunter. When they teleport to you, you can just kill them off. If you are running low on health, teleport to a statue of the seven because when you come back the enemies you killed will be dead but all the other enemies that are alive will have regained their health but so have you. Then when it is only the ruin guard just take advantage of the elements and reactions. If you have higher levels characters than the ruin hunter it will help a lot. Bring food too if you are low! Finally, don’t be scared! It’s ok and don’t let this quest stop u I believe in you because this quest scared me so much I almost quit genshin. If you are still terrified, grind some primos and get a five star. I’m free to play so i recommend doing single pulls not ten pulls. Good luck!!!
I just went crazy with all my burst lol, I set up zhongli Sheild and charged toward them like there’s no tomorrow. I was lucky that it rained so I spammed kaeya’s skill. But when the rain ended I just used dendro traveler and thoma’s skill lol.

Another good one is too first kill the abyss mages so it’s easier, if you have a electro and hydro characters, use that on the bot thing, it’ll kill it faster
I think a technique is shooting and attracting the abyss mages and lure it at the side and kill it one ny ones then proceed to killing the machine thing. I am currnetlt stuck on this quest rn so im trying this tactic, wish me luck :,)
Also i recommend using a Dendro bow user (Tighnari and others) with Amber and switch between them, it makes the fire damage take more continuously similarly to electro (i forgot what its specifically called but yes) ^^

if you want to finish the quest faster wait for it to rain use kaeya for his elemental skill (e) noelle for shield and burst for healing thoma for pyro and shield ig (optional) and make sure to dodge a lot 🥲 hope this helps
As for me, the rain made it worse because I keep get getting frozen myself lol. plus the ruin hunter is freakin annoying. So climbing the hill and attack with bow method really helped lol. After the ruin hunter was out of the way, the next stage was pretty easy.
This is the one that helped me the most, after killing the mages and the Hitchcurls just go there when all the characters have their elemental power full, wait until it will rain and just elemental smash...my characters were also kinda low but it workes
