    I think it depends on the board. I replaced the bracket with the Thermalright one and it did take down my idle temp in the bios by 4-7C. Windows idle temp is down about 2C but I suspect that if I did a fresh reinstall, it might take it down more.

      Nope, it doesn't. These do not help AM5 in any way unless you are watercooling custom loop it might help with thermals

    How did you cool your amd 7900 to 34 degrees in idle, mine is around 45-55 degrees using the Dark Rock Elite + Arctic MX-6 thermal paste.

      I had nothing running in the background even rgb software will still be a load on the cpu to make it spike point of doing for thermals is to let the cpu idle without any background software

    I think you should try the frame with conductonaut extreme since the seal will prevent you from frying the CPU.

      @WELSHYTECH my thermal grizzly contact sealling frame just came in yesterday. I already have conductonaut extreme on hand since I always use it on my laptops, and my new mobo comes in today so we'll see how things go. My 7800X3D is already gertting 18K on cinebench R23. I already have around 25-30 degrees with kryonaut extreme, so I guess I'll find out later today if it can make a significant difference.

    You should compare clock speeds instead of thermals, both platforms nowadays opportunistically boost until they reach TjMax. That's why the charts look so similar.

    • @WELSHYTECH
      @WELSHYTECH  5 місяців тому

      I'm comparing thermals, not clock speeds. If the thermals are under control, they mean you will get the best performance

      @@WELSHYTECH that's the thing. With 7000 series ryzens, they will boost to the exact same temperature regardless of cooling, every single time. The difference will be in the clock speed, not the thermals.

    Hi Quick question on my thermal grizzly plate it says in the intructions that the silicon frame is only for use when liquid metal is used for cooling to protect the transistors is that correct? And do i use the pad or not as i'm just using paste

      @WELSHYTECH right now I'm testing in open air with 7950x3d on a B650i aura ultra from Gigabyte and no GPU. The cooler height+fan cannot exceed 45mm. I tried the Noctua 37mm, 470grams with two heat pipes and an ID cooler 45mm, 317grams with 4 heat pipes and still reaching 94deg.c .. normally 57deg.c when idle .. under stress, when installing a game it goes to 93 - 94c and it shuts off .. my zs-a4s all aluminum case will get even hotter.

      @WELSHYTECH Yes you'reright, there is a ECO setting in Ryzen Master tool that will limit the power to 80w (0.975v - 0.985v core) and stable clock speed of 4800mhz and then the Temps are around 87deg.C .. I ordered a Thermalright all copper Apx90x47 should have a THD of 140watts. If not, I'll get a larger ITX case.

      What's interesting is that AMD is okay with the 7950x running at 95deg.C, but the 7950x3d shuts down or blue screens between 92-94deg.C to protect the L3 V-cache.
