    Hello! I'm Michael J. My channel features mostly citybuilder, survival/crafting and RTS games. I'm quite smart and very thorough. For me, the game always comes first, no laughing or screaming. My primary objective is to get the job done.

    I'm curious. Who tested this game before release and thought it was fine? This game is ridiculously hard! I don't claim to be an expert in RTS games but I beat their previous game (Starship Troopers: Terran Command) on hardest difficulty with most missions on first try. I needed over 8 hours to beat this mission! On normal difficulty! I can feel my hair going grey playing this. I'll keep going but I don't know how much more I can handle... I mean, I could've recorded a full playthrough of Sons of the Forest in this time! XD

      Rimmy did a video on why the game doesn't work, he mentioned units in this game are too fragile as they die easily and even taking damage makes them combat-ineffective, yet you have no way to replenish them in the field, even while facing down hundreds of tough enemies. In addition the supply/strategic map system is completly unbalanced and not allowing you to have a large force to compensate.

      They need to rebalance things in the patch, where the difficulty spike is adjusted to your liking and whatever Quality of Life options that it will need.

      The game is really hard but I guess that's what makes this game feel more personal like understand people's frustrations but this is one of those games that you can't just shit out troops and win like a Command and conquer game. This game feels like your actually a commander for a resistance group and you feel the struggles of how it feels to be one and its one of the reasons why only 10 people actually reached the ending of the game. A lot of areas feel like you actually can't win, this game requires skill and luck the only way you can actually pass this is if you spend 4+ hours on each mission to ensure you get everything right, or if you just use cheats

      @@leograndthio5074 do I got to the cartel mission without cheating but man the only thing is supply idk how far you are in the campaign but the maps get bigger every mission so you have to spread your forces to make sure the enemies don’t take a building behind you but you’re to struggle because you don’t have enough supplies to last a medium or large army

      @@smokeybear1597 Ima be real honest with you, just cheat the cartel missions, I used cheat engine and gave one of my humvees infinite hp and just charged straight through the whole mission. Its actually impossible unless you cheated the supplies and goodwill points to buy more than you need from the integrators.

    this game reminds me of a game I played once, beside the hardest difficulty setting it said for those who enjoy pain and suffering

    There is something immensely satisfying in seeing a game played well. Which is exactly what you're doing. And it's just as satisfying to not have someone talking in my ear while I watch an unfolding war.
    That said, the game looks extraordinarily difficult and a bit unwieldy. I could see you trying to get your infantry to take a building at one point, and they just didn't. Heh, I definitely felt your frustration there. Having to constantly micromanage everyone's ammo and supplies, while realistic, doesn't feel like it would contribute to a fun experience. Which is why I'm glad you're the one doing this playthrough instead of me! It's riveting to watch.
    I also had to laugh at all the ordnance that's just lying around. Like, how many ATGM reloads could be left, really, ten years into a post-apocalyptic world torn apart by constant war? Every time I saw an ATGM miss, I winced, thinking "Well, that's one missile closer to running out of them forever."

      Thanks a lot for your nice comment! :D
      Yeah, I usually don't get that frustrated but this game's really pushing me. Wait until you see me struggling with a tank which is only driving backwards in the next video! XD
      The supplying with munition isn't really that problematic during a mission. Only some units like ATGM squads, tanks and artilleries need a constant supply. Most other units can last a lot longer with what they have.
      Yeah, the weapons system is stupid. Am I expected to check every weapon drop after beating a mission to see, if I need that weapon or its ammo?

      Could you prove that its "realistic " to manage everyone ammo? as in army just being multiple bodies controlled by one mind? Is there not multiple different leader, each one with specific task, in the army ?

    • @WendingWyrd
      @WendingWyrd 5 місяців тому

      @@blahblah7720RTS games like Starship Troopers Terran Command don't require you to worry about unit ammo. And it's realistic because when a unit in the field is engaged in combat, getting them resupplied with ammo from the rear areas is no minor thing. At least this game simulates the headache involved.

    Hey will be able to get all the achievements as well ?

    • @MichaelJGetsTheJobDone
      @MichaelJGetsTheJobDone  5 місяців тому

      I missed some already. For example, I didn't activate the Cartel's Legion exhibition because the hacker warned me about it. That'd have been rewarded with an achievement. And there're some achievements you can't get at the same time with others. For example, I can either beat all arena fights or throw the towel at the last one to get the Cartel to fight the Integrators like I did. Both choices have their own achievements. Also, giving up the tank to the Cartel or keeping it both have their respective achievements.

    Does this game have a campaign-less open map mode? I feel like that would be a great selling point for me, just random runs that start with random equipment and with the goal to either ally with all human factions or conquer them along with pacifying Legion. the mod support for this game will make or break it.

      There're skirmishes against the AI and also a multiplayer mode. I didn't try either, therefore, I can't say anything else besides that they exist. But I'd be surprised if they included the worldmap.

      @ToastedWaffles_ 3 місяці тому

      @@MichaelJGetsTheJobDone I'm thinking more like the career mode that battletech has no need to play the campaign over again just open map play. Then again you'd need to have randomly generated maps and loot pools to go with it to make the game feel good on that level. Im sure a modding team could add something like that.
