Dude this tutorial is great I feel like you're talking directly to me and saying a lot of things I need to hear. This is gonna be a huge help. Looking forward to watching your channel grow!
2:43 i couldn't agree more man, i remember the "good ol days" where every clip and every magazine pic depicted a blader almost sitting on their skates while grinding. It does tend to look better style wise and the super baggy clothes seemed to accentuate the positions hahaha
Great tips! I went out after this vid and landed 3 royales. The 4th one I slammed my head on the concrete and got a trip to the ER + a concussion. Still..awesome tutorial, and thank god for helmets!
Thank you so much for all your vids man. I just got back into skating after like 15 years and your videos have helped me every step of the way. I landed my first grind today and its all thanks to you bro. cheers and keep up the great work!
Watched your video and went out and practiced on the play rail and got it down thank you!!! Gonna take it to the ledge at my local skate park tomorrow!
You're taking over brother. So looking forward to seeing y'all at that atlas. This tutorial is a godsend to us and I have been following yall on instagram for a while so it's incredible that you are doing this for us... Your misty flips... Bruh... 😎
For me It took me years and I have finally unlocked it. It was all about jumping on as a stall and jumping on with my knees bent. Knees bent was the biggest thing
There are allot of royal tutorial videos but honestly until I watched this I didn’t really understand the grind that well thanks allot for making these videos it really helps me learn stuff
I always thought maybe I was landing wrong because I see a lot of people landing boots together. Then you mention martial arts and boxing (which I teach) I have always landed staggered since I started blading. Thanks for that info
I quit skating right when people started doing this grind. Am I wrong when I remember it was called “Shifty Royale”? Anyway, after a 20+ year break in skating I’m back. Thanks for the video. This will help.
Allday bruv great vid, this is the next trick on my list to learn will be applying these methods mos def. Had to order some of them triple 8 bumsavers as I keep falling hard on my right hip. Knocks me sick everytime! Falling at 38 is wild hahah I've never had this many scrapes and bruises since I was about 15!!!
Maybe this can help someone, if you are struggling, it took me like 6 months to get royales down and I finally hit them today. Tighten your boot laces tight but keep your cuff loose (i remove my liner laces too) and the thing that may me able to lock these is that I curbed up my hblock in the middle and the side of the hblock towards the backslide plate against a sharp brick step, only a small amount off, 1 min or so, but its really helped make the angle easier and the hblock deeper
im new on aggresive, hope dont die trying.... something funny was on urban skating the most dangerous fall was slowest one , broken shoulder tendon... other time on downhill, falling at 70kmh just some scratches..
Acosta has such a wealth of knowledge. Thank you so much! I’ve been blading for a few weeks now and your videos are helping me like crazy! Can’t wait to get out there and start learning these🙏
i learn grind be4 riding, my older brother and his friends was started to ride and grind some street rocks and rails and i find that super cool and i wanted to do the same but my problem was i did never ride a inline skates in my life, so i take his old k2 skates and went to S-park to try some grind..so any time i was riding i fall because i did not have a balance, after one month of grinding i was able to grind a rail of 5+m or 16+feet on royale but when i was about to land i fall, after 2 months i learned to grind backslide same rail same length but by then i got some balance and was able to land but still i was not god at landing or even riding, so after half a year i was better then all of them doing any kind of grinds gaps steps...what was my point here JUST HAVE FAITH IN YOUR SELF ANY THING I POSSIBLE
Not everyone is built anatomically to land low. Some skaters have feet that can’t dorsiflex without having their heels lift off the ground. I have that unfortunate problem on only one leg. My right foot is an inch and half smaller than my left and it almost has zero degree of dorsiflexion,so i end up distributing weight improperly on many lands hurting the normal foot that can actually dorsiflex properly. I broke my fibula when i was 15 do to that flawed. I'm limited to many tricks because of that. Embarrassing to explain plus hard to believe it can be a burden if you don’t have the problem. I can’t drop in fakie on a ramp of any size because i will fall instantly face first on my face.
Damn, sounds like shit I would recommend getting an extra heel pad or shock absorber, that makes easier to bend your knees without bending your knees forward I ride my skates with 2 shock absorbers, it felt weird the first 2 days but then you get used to it and make things way better

Ouch head injuries are scary, heal up and get back out there... wearing a helmet 🙌
After 20yrs I still use cracks and joints to get my head around new tricks I’m trying. Thought I was the only one that did this!!!
Cracks usually bad but in this case... lol 🙌
Thank you! NO ONE would explain the royale like THIS as a teen!!

Royale has always been my go to. Love on coping, ledges, where ever. I do them more consistently than any other grind
Killer tutorial, huge thanks. I totally agree with your perspective on 'slow falls'; never thought of it this way though.
Big Fan of your channel! Awesome seeing your progression and growth these past few videos in aggressive inline.

Keep trying to make it work, but I just can't make the sole plate touch. Need to train that voodoo knee bending.
Excellent work!!!

why was i trying to do this sliding towards the right side. thinking about going to the left like in the video meantally feels so much better
Im the same way im right foot dominate but for frontsides and royals i always go switch its so strange lol

Helo ! meu Brother tudo bem? essa e uma das manobras que estou louco pra aprender, vou destravar esta
What skate pArk is this
Memorial Park Colorado Springs
Royale seems like a fakie grind to me..... that position is a lot like a good fakie lookback, but with the feet perpendicular
step 1 : steal a rail.. step 2 : laý it down on 2 or 3 stairs.. step 3 : go in position.. final step : feeeeeeel the position..
Nice explanation
Fucking awesome class.....
How the fuck I just discovered your channel instant sub
“If you step on a crack you break your mothers back” Your poor mother
But that’s scary
