  • Father and daughter hike up Mt Dangar in the Upper Hunter Valley.
This was a tough challenge as we had 12kg and 20kg hiking packs on.
The terrain was rugged and we had to pave our own track.
The night was cold and we slept on rocky ground.
Overall it was a success and we achieved what we had set out to acomplish.
Next time we'll leave earlier and hike with less weight.
Mt Dangar may have an elevation of only 674m, but it gets
very steep towards the end and the ridges are quite narrow.
We encountered some massive cliffs also. Not for the faint hearted.
Mount Dangar is a prominent basalt peak at the eastern edge of the Goulburn River National Park, 35 km (22 mi) north-west of Denman, New South Wales.
It has an elevation of 674 m (2,211 ft) AHD, and was first sighted by the surveyor Henry Dangar in October 1824, following his discovery of the confluence of the Goulburn and Hunter Rivers. Dangar named the domed shaped mountain Mount Cupola. In April 1825, botanist and explorer, Allan Cunningham, renamed the mountain Mount Dangar, when he ascended the mountain during his second northwest expedition to the Liverpool Plains.

Hi Aussie Cowboy, it's chris/sunk from FC maps, writing !
Nice journey with your daughter, very good pics and vids, and most of all a great challenge to share with your daughter, living like if you were cut from the world, finding wood to start a fire, the true life. I liked it ;)

Hey amigo! Thank you for the kind words, much appreciated. It's important to get back to basics every so often. You learn to appreciate the simple necessities in life, like warmth, shelter, food and water. Stay tuned for the next one!
