Hi! This video is AWESOME! I will be doing this process this weekend. Quick question, is this a one time solution or would I need to update my PCM with the latest version via this process every so often? Thanks so much!
@@janzensmall8518 one time. I did this last December, haven't touched it since.
@@doctordevarious Thanks so much. Appreciate your help!
ok, the key bit of info I didn't have was the extract the PATCHES using a 7 zip tool, which I had to download and install in my computuer. then, extract all and copy over to the MIB patches subfolder... there are a lot of files and takes some time. that was what I missed. I had copied over the .7z file only.
@@MrFezco it sounds like you're missing a step or performing something improperly. I also have the instructions written out in the description that worked for me and countless others in the comments here.
I also don't know your vehicle, it's PCM, or your process so...kinda hard to point you in an exact direction.

I canceled the backup and it rebooted for third time. No confirmation of update
Great video! Would this work on a 2020 Macan? My PCM is the large wide screen version so i assume 5.0.
@@TheMoose22 you have PCM 4.1 (or PCM 5). This method is for the 17 and 18 for sure. I haven't seen info on how to add to the 19+
@@doctordevarious Ah too bad. Not worth risking it on mine then, unless there is a confirmed way to do this soon. Really struggling without Android Auto after having it for so many years on my older cars!

when i try to extract the MIB download into the patches folder i keep getting error message saying "this cant be extracted from the archive because its an unsupported file type".. and cant get past this. any advice? TIA
@@thelostboys565 how are you extracting and what program? If you're using the default windows explorer, try using 7Zip or WinRAR. The extraction is just uncompressing the files to their original uncompressed state. Also extract them to your computer and then cut/paste the patches content you extract into the patches folder of the SD card.
Could not get the tuner and car key to bring up the green screen

@@jungleswings5016 did you take the file from the patches website, extract it's contents, And upload the actual files to the inside of the patches folder?
Because the error sounds like you don't have anything in there. Or your firmware is too recent / updated to complete this process.

Dealership should be able to flash the version back to an older / stock update. However that update may prevent this jailbreak capability from being performed, just an FYI.

'16 Macan had the PCM 3.1 head unit, not the 4.0 one shown in my video
The one 16 macan I’m looking at has the same as yours also like the commenter was saying

I couldn’t format the sd card, do you know if it will still work, if using a higher than 8gb card?
@@JoseMendoza-p2f I don't believe it will. You will need to format it to 8gb. If you are on a PC you can absolutely format it to 8gb using the Disk Management utility and selecting the SD card from that menu
Disk Management Utility = Create & Format Disk Partition
Select SD disk (i.e D:0 / D:1 / D:2)
You will see UNallocated partition is VERY small, PRIMARY partition=Disk size (i.e 8gb, 32gb, 64gb, etc)
DELETE the PRIMARY partition (right click that partition)
Now the UNallocated will be the BIG size, Right-click it, NEW VOLUME , set it to 8,192mb = (1024mb x 8)
NOW you have 8GB format :)

Does this allow for wireless carplay? Or does your phone need to be connected via the wired cable?
@@christang1936 wired Car Play only. There are aftermarket USB dongles that can allow wireless that you can plug into the USB port inside the center console however.
That second link is now asking for a password? How can I get those patches?
Rewatch the video. 05:42
I've followed these steps about 100 times and I still have not gotten it to connect or work. I've deleted all the files and redownloaded them all and tried so many times with no luck.
1. Check 8GB SD Card & formatted correctly to only show 8GB active
2. Ensure GEM is downloaded correctly & pasted to the SD card correctly
3. Ensure patches and downloaded, extracted, and pasted to the SD card patches folder correctly.
From there this should get you in. Also this only works for PCM 4.0 vehicles.
