If you don't already know, green fig is the name associated with green cooking bananas in the Southern Caribbean.
For making this green fig salad, you'll need..

St lucia we love, one of my favorite. Green fig salad. Proud st lucian.
Yayyyyyyy. You made my day Chris. As a St. Lucian, I loved that you featured a traditional St. Lucian dish.
Curious to know, would this still be tasty if I left out the fish because I'm vegetarian? Thank you for sharing!

Nice thanks for doing Lucia
I can't wait to try out this dish. I usually mash the bananas add tuna instead of salt fish and a lot more mayo, as well as the mixed vegetables. A lot of my Lucian friends rave about this dish and I can finally try it for myself. (Dominican)
Thanks for that Chris. Lucian and proud! One of my favourite dishes :)
I am from St. Lucia, and looks delicious. We also use mixed veg, btw, for the salad usually which is natural...I would love to see you do more St. Lucian recipes, or Salara.. which I've been looking for recipes to make.

Chris boy where you from? My family is Afro Trinidadian and I have had this hundreds of times growing up in Trinidad. Taste good with stewed fish.
Thank you for enjoying our Lucian green fig salad. You can add smoked herring as well.
I wouldn't add mayo I would just add some olive oil at the end. Thank u Chris
Is this green banana like the sweet fruit, you can eat raw or plaintains(bigger less sweet ones)
Chris hey show us your version of green fig talkari with saltfish
Margaret of sun bilt st Lucia where is the salt fish it must have it
Chris, can you use plantains instead? And cilantro instead of parsley?
GoranMak if the plantain is green I think so, likewise the substitution of the spices
No don't
Hi im from Saint Lucia ... this looks nice but you didn't add any garlic nor onion and the mix veg is the one of the key ingredients... SALTFISH! 🤗
Chris. Did it but used 75% mayo and 25% creamed horseradish. Yeh Mon, check it out !
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Chris can you make some caribbean cheese straws?
i love this recipe but can i use something else to replace the mayo
Arti Persad-Singh Yes you can make the dish with olive oil. Apparently there are many variations.
I did mine with vegan mayo. Taste just the same.
Green bananas, is that the same as actual green bananas at grocery stores or are these a different type of food?
yes, fully unripened
the green figs we use are the green bananas sold separately from the yellow bananas in the supermarket. the green plaintains are different but could be used the same way.
@@deemari577 thanks for specifying, I was just going to ask! :D
Can you make mofongo?
Ooh, that sounds good from the wiki description.
Does anyone know any more st Lucian dishes
Green fig and saltfish
Breadfruit bake
758 all the way
les sous-titres en français sont FAUSSE. youtube : 👎🏾
subtitles in french are full of errors ..
who did the subtitles.
The salted cod is unnatural man, that is overly processed. If you see how it is made you would see for yourself.
