How do you ensure your ruler is parallel to your line when you readjust? The lack of numerical divisions and a protractor make this very imprecise. Excellent work, especially given the difficulties involved in such primitive methods.
You should demonstrate this without pivoting to mimic what it would be like to work on a block within a large quilt. In that scenario, wouldn't we be moving the ruler as we go?I can't see us pivioting when we have a queen size quilt under the needle.
Thank you a very good tutorial. I've a Janome Horizon 7700, can I use on my machine the foot for use the rulers? And where i can buy this foot? Excuse my orrible English! Thank you!
I don't understand what is the benefit of using a ruller and FMQ for straight line quilting. Why not just use painters tape, or a ruler bar (that came with my machine) or other markings on your foot instead? This is what I do and it works great. That said, I can't wait to try ruler work for other things!
Moet ek my masjien stel om met rulerfoot te kan werk ek het n Pfaffrulerfoot en n expresion 3.0 masjien wil nie werk met rulers iemand het gese ek moet masjien stel om te werk.
You should not do this with an embroidery foot. You'll need a ruler foot to do this safely. The foot keeps the ruler from slipping under the needle. Just about any sewing machine can be fitted with a ruler foot!
How did I miss this little gem of a video? Thanks Amy❣
Really nice video to demonstrate techniques. I'm really happy to have randomly found it!
Very nicely presented. Tutorial was well thought out. Thank you!
Thank you Amy, so well demonstrated. Going to my machine and see if I can do it too
I watched the video again and you did show the marking ... Love this
This is a great video! Nothing at all inappropriate! Not that you could ever do inappropriate, Leah!!!
My ruler foot arrived today! Thanks for these great tutorials. Very helpful.

How can you do this on a basic sewing machine, with an embroidery foot
