Thanks mate. Shame I haven't got a better camera, the Action 3 is rubbish in low light. Yeah hefty old pack that was. Luckily was an easy and relatively short walk.
Ha ha, yeah you can always rely on the good old Nature Valley bars. I always seem to have a stash of them in my bag. Yeah, it's a dead comfy pad. Just was a little cold on it this time round. I wonder if anyone will ever manage to make the ultimate comfy, warm and light pad!
How did I miss this one? A place I really want to camp, now I have my satellite communication device and can navigate better I’ll be over there when there’s a break in this wind and rain 😊 great vid thank you!
I don't know Sarah...must have slipped through the net. 🤷 So much content to watch out there, it's easy to miss the odd video. At least your comments aren't being marked as spam now. 😆 You must get out to Grinah Stones. That little patch is perfect for Hillary.
@@trickofthetrail how dare they 😂 probs because I’ve been monetised now 😂 they trust me ha ha…who’d have thunk it eh? Some great content and great people willing to make it and share for others to enjoy. It’s great! I’d sub to you again if I could 🙂
Thanks matie. Yeah it's a great quilt, I do find it really comfy to sleep in. It's the Trekology Aluft Plus mate. So comfy I love, only used a few times, but is a game changer for me. You have the deluxe version don't you?
Sorry to hear you felt the cold. I have a Etherlite XT which I've used at -10 deg C combined with a Sierra Designs Cloud 20 (-3 comfort) and never felt any cold through the pad itself.
Yeah, I was a bit surprised that I felt cold tbh. I've had it out in those sorts of conditions before and been fine. It might have been the quilt, not too sure. I am a cold sleeper though.
A sleeping bag will give you a bit of a false reading on the pad as it will fill in the holes and insulate that way. Also heard those sts mats have to be blown up really hard to actually insulate any.
Ah, never thought of that mate. I have taken that pad out in similar conditions before and been fine on it, so might have been okay if I'd had a sleeping bag. Yeah I also agree that you need to have that pad blown up hard, which is what I always do. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I'm going to check out some of your videos.
@@trickofthetrail That hole filling insulation is the selling point of the klymit pool noodle called “Inertia” that I kinda wanted because of the weight. But useless with a quilt unless you put your puffy under your back to fill the holes. Enjoyed the video! I have not been very active lately, life taking it’s toll, but might get back on the UA-cam wagon eventually :)
Thanks Paul. I like the Exped backpack. It has been rather superseded by my Waymark Embr, but you have to factor in the price difference there. I might do a review of it actually, maybe I will on my next trip out, assuming I can fit all my winter gear in it. There are a few quirks with it, but I do find it comfy, so long as you don't go about around 16kg. Let me know if you've got a specific questions and I'll try to answer them.
They are the VivoBarefoot Tracker Forest Esc. They aren't fully waterproof, they are water resistant. The natural leather helps keeps the water out. They have tried to find a balance between breathability and water resistance with these boots. They do have a fully waterproof boot, called the Tracker Winter II SG. Personally I prefer these type of water resistant boots and use waterproof socks if I know the conditions are going to be really wet. Hope that helps.
That Sea to Summit sleeping pad is huge when packed. Why werent you using your Nemo Tensor Extreme? And what is the folding table you were cooking on? Thanks.
Hey Steve. Yeah, it's very very bulky and also heavy. I hadn't purchased the Nemo Extreme at that point. You'll see it on my next video which was filmed a week after this. The table is the SOTO Field Hopper. It's quite expensive but is absolutely worth it. Best camping table I've had by far. You can buy it from Valley and Peak.
Thanks so much for the kind words mate, glad you enjoyed it. The tent I used in this video is the Stone Glacier Skyscraper. It's an awesome 2 person 4 season tent, but is rather expensive. A 3 man tent for a £250 budget? That's easy! Your tent is the Sierra Designs Meteor 3000 3P. It's an amazing tent for the price, a good all rounder, weighs in at a little over 2.4kg, so not too heavy and will do you well for 3 seasons, but can get you through the winter, so long as there isn't bucket loads of snow or very heavy wind. I have the 2 person version and have had it out in the snow, wind and rain. It was my shelter when I did the Cumbria Way a couple of years back and has served me so well. It's currently for sale via Valley and Peak for £254.99, but they tend to sell out fast: valleyandpeak.co.uk/products/copy-of-sierra-designs-meteor-3000-2-person-tent Hope that helps mate.
Best wishes on the adventures in 2024.
Thank you so much for your kind wishes! I'm excited for the adventures that 2024 has in store for all of us. Let's make it a year to remember!
Nicely shot again mate, your videography is definately getting better. Your pack must have been super heavy for that one?
Thanks mate. Shame I haven't got a better camera, the Action 3 is rubbish in low light.
Yeah hefty old pack that was. Luckily was an easy and relatively short walk.
I've lost count of the times I've had a Nature Valley bar for breakfast on trail! 😂
That sleeping pad looked comfy as hell.

Great spot you found there. Weather conditions looked pretty favourable for camping, could almost consider it myself.
One day mate! My mission in life is to drag you out on a wild camp. You need to give that Bobcat of yours a proper wilderness test.
I've just bought that quilt 😂🤦
@@cuprajake1 Don't worry mate, I used it in snowy conditions the following weekend on the Tensor Extreme and was just fine. It's a great quilt.
@@trickofthetrail yeah I'm hoping so, I've just changed a tansor insulated for a ba rapide SL. Not used either yet though.

Thanks so much Andrew. Yeah, it's such a beautiful place and a great camping location.

A Trick of the Trail - why this name?
Hey, thanks for subscribing. I'm a bit of a prog rock fan and so this is named after a Genesis album called A Trick of the Tail.
@@trickofthetrail you might recognise my name then from Wind & Wuthering 😀 Keep up the good work
