We documented a disturbance by skiers that forced the mountain goat herd into high-risk avalanche terrain. It's exhausting just watching the goats belly deep in soft snow and struggling to escape from the skiers.

Thank you for posting this video. I feel so sorry for this tiny herd of mountain goats, just trying to make it through the winter. Their survival is so tenuous to begin with in such harsh terrain. With more people venturing into the outdoors and many are going deeper into the back country, are we so clueless of the problems we cause for the creatures that live and belong there? Skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, etc. seem like harmless activities, but just the presence of humans is enough to disturb and cause hardship to the things that are struggling to survive. I'm curious how can they even "close" a mountain or area and if people would respect that if it's just signage? Regrets don't help or solve the problem.
