Oliver is 27, Ginnivan is 21. Kane never said Melbourne should "give up on Oliver" he stated that if a club came with interest in Oliver then Melbourne should take the trade or deal put forward, this is not comparable to deliberately trading away a 20 year old in a trade you fronted. People in the comments who argue against Kane can't seperate their distaste for him and the facts of what they're saying. Your entire comment is moot.
I think Melbourne got the best out of Oliver. Oliver's cooked now. Trade him to another team that may be able to get him back to his best. North Melbourne maybe?
Still doesn't make sense to me hearing Ginnivan complain about how at Collingwood they're system-based and that its hard being a forward because everyone is a role player. He kicked 40 odd goals in 2022 under this 'system', not to mention was lucky enough to win a premiership which not a lot of players get to achieve in their career but has the courage to say he basically didn't like being told where to play and just wants to be a free spirit, I just don't get it. Do you ever hear a defender complain about how they don't get to go up the field and kick goals because they wanna have more freedom in their gameplay and don't wanna be a part of a system?
Spot on. If every player picked and chose what they did in junior footy into AFL then why do we have senior coaches?

Kane has a short memory of his own comments regarding Jack over his career.
Good points, but I don't think he was talking just about freedom and not wanting to be told where to play. He was talking about the "system" and its structure, plays and patterns they needed to stick to at Collingwood. He mentioned having to stay over one side of the ground during plays because that's how they were drawn up, and he had no freedom to change or provide input to improve them. He's talking about change not just to suit him but to suit the club, improving plays etc. I actually think he's got a smart footy brain and people can't see past this because of the selfies and celebrations.
I know you're going to mention those plays won them a premiership, but they're not working now and the players should be having input into the structure, not just told to conform to it. My 2 cents anyway.
@Portyhouse Elliot small forward in team then Hill recruited then Schultz recruited meant they were thinking beyond Jack. His 23 season Jack was mostly in VFL and not in best 22 but injuries got him a gig in GF, which 7 possessions showed in that game. Very lucky to be selected. I think Craig knows he made a mistake in playing him in GF ahead of others but that's footy. Hawks are on the up on a run but not won anything yet. Let's see who is better for Pies Schultz or Jack longterm. An ANZAC medal and 40 goals in 2022 but was unable to hold his spot in team over season but has a 🏅 as a premiership player.
I sàid last year trading ginnivan was a big mistake. He hadnot reached his peak yet and has that x factor that sparks the team. I didnt like them trading for shultz and losing the first round pick for this year. I was blasted by everyone and once again im right...
Yep you’ll hear nothing but crickets from that lot. A lot of people like to make noise towards anyone going against the grain but as soon as you’re the only one right you’ll never hear a peep from them.

1. Not trading Brodie Grundy when Adelaide offered 2 firsts for him and taking the picks (the future first turned out to be Josh Rachele)
2. Not delisting Callum and Tyler Brown sooner
3. Trading Dayne Beams back in and disposing 2 firsts (future first turned out to be Mitch Georgiades)
4. Trading out a future first for Lachie Schultz and subsequently trading Jack Ginnivan

He was a ducker. When he started he had a bad habit of ducking into tackles to draw frees. It was so obvious and he got a lot of constructive criticism for it. To Ginifan's credit, he stopped ducking into tackles but I still think he has behaviour and attitude issues. Lets not forget the pics of him partying around illegal drugs. Maybe he will grow out of it as he matures but I think Collingwood made the right choice moving him on.

The way Ginnifan mocked the pies supporters, (and was showboating) suggested to me Collingwood did the right thing, and Im a Norf supporter. I've never been a fan of showboating players but thats just me.

I agree with some aspects of this. He went harmlessly to the races to clear his mind and hang with mates and it was taken the wrong way. This paired with past transgressions and the “distraction” that he brings and also paired with getting a flag out of him as a rookie pick- they did give up on him and moved him on.

Collinwgood gave Hawks a 2nd rounder, Jack Ginnivan and lost a 1st round pick to Freo to get lachlan schultz in, You don't even have to debate what happened because we all know pies cooked themselves and hawks took advantage of it, more proof Mitchell is a superior coach to mcrae which is why pies wanted him originally and Clarkson too in the head coach searching process.

Im a hawk and to be honest ginni wanted to go to hawks in that mid season draft but pies got him at there own peril! And bring in shultz with bobby hill was going to push ginni out to be fair! And ginni new that at that time! So pies did think 26 year old shultz was a better player than ginni all last year! So no they didnt want to trade him but left it to ginni! So they did push him out! It was not an arrogant trade but it was a big mistake! They should of clearly seen ginni is very young and has talent to a 26 year old with an ageing list and kept him and keep there first round pick! When your list is old you have to be very careful trading high picks and see talent when its right in front of you! Pies failed with both! They gave first round pick on a 25 year old with an old list and gave away quality talented youth! There the facts! But i believe even if pies did not get shultz and give ginni a top comtract he still wanted to go to hawks and maybe they new that mid season so went for shultz! But we will never no if ginni was offered a big contract from pies and still left! Big mistake from pies and we swaped 2nd round picks so pies paid hawks for ginni! But not arroagnce just a big mistake! It happens to all clubs! But ginni kicking 40 plus in 2nd year pies should of known he has alot of growth to go only 19 years of age for a 26 year old good player and gave hawks a top pick and gave a 1st rnd pick to freo! 6 months is a looong time in football. 3 x AA is the past, if you keep dwelling in the past the club will never move on. Every one has an expiry date unfortunately, especially in professional sports. Trust me, the team I barrack for is living in the past, 3/4 of the team should be traded or delisted, some won AA's in the past not the same players anymore but the club is hanging on. Don't think I will be seeing success anytime soon.

He’s always been critical of Bevo because he has underperformed with the list he’s managing, some of the top players in the team yet they have struggled to even be a top 4 team let alone top 8. Kane has never said to sack Yze, he called him a cheerleader and said he won’t be coaching much longer if he doesn’t stand for anything and demand more from his players, this is far from calling for him to be sacked, so you’re wrong 2 out of 2 times now. Nicks hasn’t played finals in 7 years and their performances year over year haven’t increased like the teams in the same boat as them, freo, dogs, Hawthorne, of course he’s going to say it’s time to move a coach on if there’s little to no improvement in a team that is expected to play finals at least. 3 out of 3 times you’re wrong. This is super simple: the Pies were luckiest and weakest premiership side in the last 30 years. This year their luck has run out and, aside from Nick Daicos, none of their other two or three A-graders from last year are playing well meaning their glut of B/C/D graders are exposed.
That is the most ridiculous comment I've ever read and I'm not even a Collingwood supporter. Let me break 'luckiest and weakest' down. You need a bit of luck to win a premiership, yes every team does. With injuries, right selection, Maynard getting off is luck. Weakest - I'm baffled by that. How is someone that is weak wins, not just close games throughout the year but the Holy Grail. You associate weakness with bottom 6 of the ladder not 1st or runners up.
