      What Eddie said was spot on. You cant just stroll i with an outdated contract that isnt supported by anything that is in the current game (i.e. no heritage round) and point to it saying they can legally wear the black and white. They signed the colours and pattern away when they joined the AFL. They have no legal or moral claim to wear the guernsey and shouldnt be allowed.. and for the record, l support neither Port Adelaide or Collingwood.

      Mate. If Heritage Round does not exist, then the contract is null and void.
      Very simple.
      Also, the fact only Eddie knew about the removal of Heritage Round is akin to insider trading.
      It's further proof that Eddie McGuire has had the AFL in his back pocket for well over a decade.

      @@canadianbacon3021 Not at all. Port were free to make a contract and go with what those conditions were. Other clubs knew about the heritage round being ended. Port chose to specify the jumpers could be worn during heritage rounds and did not implement a clause to allow for another occasion if heritage round should no longer be a thing. They were free to research the contract conditions and find out more about the sustainability of heritage round. they did not, got a bad deal for themselves and now they are crying about it.

    So Eddie is admitting to receiving exclusive information that heritage round had an expiry date and then signed a contract in bad faith when the other party did not have all the relevant facts. From a guy who wistfully talks about gentlemen's handshakes.

      No, he’s saying amongst his peers most hated it and they knew it wouldn’t last. Eddie didn’t have to sign anything. It was Port trying to get permission to wear the colours and jumper they agreed to abandon to join the AFL. Outside of an all-league heritage round he didn’t want them wearing it or promoting it, because he knew in the future they’d want to rebrand and wear it more and more. And he was right.

      @@MrNetMan11 I can see what you're saying and for the record, I'm a bit of a stickler and think Eddie is right about holding Port to their agreements when joining the league. It's clear Port is not holding it's end of this particular contract with Collingwood by selling the jumpers - it's crazy they're even drawing attention to the contract given their in breach of it. But even if I accept your interpretation that Eddie and thr clubs knew heritage round was on its way out, it's clear Port didn't know that because they hinged the entire agreement on being able to play once a year in the jumper on this round. It's kinda silly that they limited the agreement to playing on heritage round when really I think the spirit is that they wanted to wear it once a year. The fact is, I think Eddie is lying when he says he knew heritage round was on the way out, that's just hid usual spin to distract from the fact that he has yet again supported an inititive he eventualky dislikes down the track - just like COLA.
      The irony remains because he is effectively caught in a lie. On the one hand he seeks to save face by admitting he signed a contract in bad faith but then also wants to be seen as having higher standards of honestly because he's so trustworthy, his hanshakes and word is as good as a contract. He can't have it both ways.

    • @MrNetMan11
      @MrNetMan11 3 роки тому +2

      @@Eiraqucam Technically the agreement would have been once every two years since it has to be a Port home game. I think the problem here stems from allowing Port to claim they’re a 150 year old club rather than a 24 year old club. Normally no one would really care, but they just happened to clash with Collingwood Magpies who have always made a huge point of never substantially changing their jumper or colours. I mean, many Port supporters were probably also Collingwood supporters pre-1997.

      Agree entirely with the first comment. The insufferable Eddie speaks about Lindsay Fox saying to have a friend you need to be a friend, what utter drivel when he then goes onto admit he knew heritage round was going to cease to exist when he signed the contract and then hangs his hat on Port manufacturing some jumpers breaking the conditions of the contract.

      This is what Kochie needs to take to the board (or whoever it is that deals with contracts), the fact that the very basis of the contract no longer exists means that the contract is void and is no longer viable.
      This means the contract is required to be changed and updated, if there is no agreed upon grounds of the contract then the element of the contract that mentions "heritage rounds" is deemed null and void, which means it can no longer be followed by any parties involved, which means that PAFC can wear the Black and White Nylon guernsey within the AFL.
      It is as simple as that.
      Kochie may as well copy this comment and present it to the board.
