Had an Baby albino California King Snake years ago; when wasn’t looking the snake was gone. The snake was well kept; my girlfriend at the the time said the snake was flushed down the toilet. So got rid of her too
That's why I don't want to have a gf anymore. I would kill her if she did this to my snake...

I really wanted to get a California King, they are so beautiful but literally just yesterday I ended up with an Irian Jaya Capet Python and I am not disappointed.

It's really nice to find another video involving kingsnakes! They kinda seem hard to find. I guess because kingsnakes are so "easy" most of the time. Idk. I would think more people keep kingsnakes instead of hognose but I find more videos for hognose! Hognose are my favorite snakes but it seems like kingsnakes have been around in the pet trade longer. Idk. Maybe not.
Anyway it's nice to see because I am still pretty new to keeping kingsnakes!

I looove kingsnakes, I find pythons and boas to be a more lazy boring snake, kingsnakes are just the right amount of active to be interesting to watch and handle.
I am just now watching some of your Kingsnake videos. I am looking at getting one so that I can be familiar with their behavior and how they are to train, so many people have them as pets, I feel I need to get familiar with them! Thanks for these videos Joe!

Narrowed it down to a corn snake, king snake or ball python. May end up getting two. Going to Repticon in just over a week, so we will see what they have.
Your lavender king is stunning! Mine has yellow on it that swirles in with the lavender as if it was food coloring in water. You are right, these snakes are too underappreciated!!

3:17 She sounds just like my girl Chloë! Chloë is still kinda young...about a year old but probably smaller than she would be if she ate more often! I had a hard time getting her started and she will not even think about eating in shed! If I could find a little bit more information about kingsnakes I could determine if she needs fed a little more often. It's not a bad thing to grow her up slowly though. I'm sure she's getting enough to eat! She eats about once a week if not a little sooner than that...every 5-6 days or so.

I get jealous when I see you handling your kings. My cali king is very nippy. Even when I'm holding him he bites. Snakes don't like striking from underneath something (or so i'm told) but he does that too. Any ideas on how to handle it?
Well just because you didn't see them bite me doesn't mine they didn't or won't haha They all have differing attitudes. Some I can handle with ease and some maintain that feeding response no matter what. I'd start by using a snake hook to get them out and handle them, making sure not to put fingers anywhere near that mouth haha
About to get my first snake (not first reptile tho), and I’m so excited. I’ve wanted one since I was 14 years old, but my mom vehemently refused every time I asked. I just recently asked again, 5 years later, and the initial answer was still no, but I got her to come around. Right now Cali King is my #1 choice, I’d love to get a boa, but as a beginner I don’t want to risk hurting the snake due to my inexperience. I was looking mainly at Dumeril’s and Brazillian Rainbows. I know there’s smaller boas like the Kenyan Sand that are good for beginners, but I want a snake that’ll possibly grow to around 5-7 feet. Ugh I can’t wait lol

I got an albino king snake and I got it as a baby and it hasn’t bit me yet but at first it got scared and it pooped all over the counter

I keep mine in an 80 degree room. Most would need an 85 degree hot spot

Black and white ball python = $$$$$$$$$$$. Black and white cal king = $100. Lol. More fun to feed. More fun to handle. More fun to observe. I don't understand why cal king, or just kings, aren't more popular. Spread that king love.
From a functional standpoint, and meeting the snake's needs, your Cal king setup is, IMO, better than many of the "naturalistic" enclosures on youtube. Good luck with the project.
