Should have called her domino
I have an awesome name for her! Goes into comments: Aight I'ma head out....🤣
Getting a California kingsnake this week, I can't wait to decorate the terrarium.
@Nathan Dube Nowhere good. Sorry I can't recommend
We have some available
Whats a terrarium
@@harvcht9876 A terrarium is a small enclosed natural environment for your reptile. Basically, the tank you keep it in.
instablaster.
Got a tiny baby yesterday. The lil guy I got was the most active outta the bunch. He was sitting on his throne (a water cap filled with water glued to the upper side of his cup). Got him out, handled him and he didn't flinch or try to flee. He acted super chill and curious, so I knew he was the one. I was very surprised that even touching his head didn't freak him out. Never knew baby snakes (let alone as tiny as a noodle ones) could be so chill. I mean my milksnake deficated on me for half a year before calming down (got him as a baby too) and even now, if he's climbing on me and I touch him,he freakes out.
My cal king was the same and now he's like a dog that went to school. He's just the best.
I got one yesterday 😭he’s super tiny atm I called him prince and when he gets big I’m going to call him king my oldest brother brought it up
Very cool!!
I’ve had a California kingsnake for about 2 years now and he’s pretty chill
I love my CA KING SNAKE she is awesome! I raised her from a baby and now she is over 6 feet long. best feeder. best snake to keep as pet!
Audie Murphy has she ever bit you? If so, is it often ?
Same here! Once she bit me on my eye when I was laying on couch. But just that once. Maybe curious or my eyelashes and blinking were like a mouse with whiskers?
definitely getting cali king as my first snake now! thanks this vid was very helpful!
Awesome!!! Thanks for watching
Can also try a grey banded kingsnake. Mine eats whenever hes out. He has not turned down anytime I feed him. And he only eats frozen pinkies / fuzzies so we dont have to kill anything. Never snapped at me either.
The only problem is grey banded tend to be more expensive than cali kings. Bought mine for about 170 bucks. Cali kings I can go get whenever I want since I live here in the mountian areas of southern California. I used to catch them all the time in my youth.
@@froggybear4033 I have a cal king and actually I want a second one a grey banded king or a woma python. Grey banded I would love but I heard when small feed on small lizards?
@@mariaguns8790 I got a Grey banded and had to train him on frozen small baby mice. Now he is the easiest snake to feed. I can feed him in his own tank also. He has never bit me either. He is awesome to handle and hold. Just have to move slowly at first when picking him up so he doesn't get scared and try to run.
I've had my girl Fluffy for about 8 years, she's my baby. Looks a lot like your male. She was kind of feisty when I first got her but, never bitten me or anyone else.
I was born and raised in San Diego, California and lived out there for the first 30 years of my life. I grew up living at the base of Rattlesnake Mountain out in the East County area in Lakeside. We used to see and catch tons of California Kingsnakes all of the time. Same thing with lots of rattlesnakes, gopher snakes and black racer snakes. Every California Kingsnake that any of my buddies ever caught always had a very chill and mellow demeanor. I’ve always thought that they were great snakes to have and were also, always very beautiful looking snakes too.
Thank you for sharing your experience with this species. This is a snake I’ve been looking to keep/breed in the future. So thanks for sharing your opinions and experience with the species!
i've had my baby king for about half a year now and i love her so much
thank you so much for all the tips! i'm eager to get my first pet snake and always wanted a california kingsnake so I'm happy she or he is a good choice for a first pet!
In my opinion, these snakes have to be some of the most stunning snakes
A very great species. In my experience very docile, sweet and even playful.
I was thinking about getting back into cal kings. I had a trio years ago and was the first snakes I bred. One of my females was named Mortisia.
Another great video keep them coming, and have a good one.
Thanks Eric! Get back into some cal kings
That dot dash is gorgeous!!!
Thanks!
The bandit king snake is awesome!!
i just got a baby white sided Brooks... he’s so chill. brooks are my favorites!!
I like them! I need them!
Great review, informative..
This video is sooooo helpful, you're such an awesome person!!
The Californiia KingSnake is one of pet snakes for their docile demeanor, inquisitive, color and patterns and just an amazing snake overall. Their feeding response are very good and their size is fairly good at 5 ft or so. Easy to care for as well for Cali KingSnake's
I'm getting my first Cali king for cristmas. and this is my 5th snake i had, i had a ball pythoon, threee garter snakes and now i'm getting a king. and thanks for the video, keep it up
Cal kings are awesome
Loved owning them
California Kingsnakes are my favorite snakes :'D idk, I just love them so so much
Just got a cali kingsnake last night. Love the info here
Awesome! Hope you enjoy him! Thanks for watching
I just got a Cali king for my first snake and she is amazing. She is still a baby, around 10 in, but she is still great to handle and is very active in her tank. I highly recommend
Is she still alive *1 year later?
Thanks for the great video, this snake is 100% on my list of dream snakes to have in the future🐍
I saw california king snake in one videos on facebook. Then i literally fell in love of it 😍😍
Thanks man for the beautiful video. I really don''t know why i like snake but I am afraid to keep one but your video is really making me think it over again. Have a great day.
Maybe start with a corn snake! Thanks for watching!
I know it says their range is mostly out west, but I caught one in the wild in West-central Illinois. I was hiking thru the woods and it was just laying out sunning itself. I just reached down and picked it up. It was totally docile.
why do you have so few subscribers! the videos are of very professional quality and I quite enjoy watching them.
Very informative! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I live in Nevada, and I've seen a snake in my garden, and I had to know if it was poisonous or not. I came across your video and found it very informative. Thank you!
Loving your California Kings brother!
Thanks man!
Thanks!!!!!!! This video was very helpful. I'm getting a Cali King snake as my first one, and I'm very excited.
And also, call you're new king snake Cocoa! :D
yeah
Awesome video!! I got a brown Cali king and loving it
Thanks Jeremy
My first pet snake was a banded Cali king when I was 8 or 9. Awesome video.
I still play with kiddy pet snakehaha
Port City Pythons hey whatever makes you happy right!
Love the video very informative
Thank you! 🙌
California King Snakes are fabulous your king snakes are beautiful and in perfect shape .
I got a Grey Banded Kingsnake (Blair's). He is only a few months old. Super friendly. Moves around a lot. Super beautiful too with the bright orange and grey with black bands.
I love gray bands!
Blairs gray banded are the holy grail of kingsnakes in my opinion. I'm jealous. lol. For now. I have a breeding pair on the way this year.
I love these guys. Impressively sized and lots of morphs and patterns.
Agreed!
This video was so helpful, thank you!
I'm glad! Thank you for watching!
Port City Pythons after watching your video, I went and bought my first pet snake ever. I was having cold feet but your video did help me feel more asure about having a kingsnake and caring for it; perfect timing. I saw the noodle, held it for the first time, and automatically fell in love. I named him Beetlejuice. I am so happy, thank you very much, your video was indeed very helpful.
I’m planning on getting my first snake soon, and I’m hopefully getting a kingsnake, they are so interesting and cute
Update: lol I was planning on getting a California kingsnake that I’ve taken care of for a while at a store, but he got sold :( After I found this out, a Florida/Brooks kingsnake just fell into my hands and was like, “you’re buying me”, so now I’m in the process of getting that and I’m ok with it because they are also very cute :)
Just got an aberrant kingsnake. So beautiful 😍😭❤
As always. Good video
Thanks Todd!
Good Video! I adore king snakes and my personal favorite species of them is California King Snake!!!!!!!!
I have a high white banded cali-king I rescue-adopted and she absolutely hates lamps and high temps, she's literally like me and does perfect in the 70-75 range, and she 99% shuts down from late November till May even if my room is 80+ all winter, with _maybe_ a January snack.
I like your videos man! keep it up.
Thanks for watching!
I fell in love with the one I found at a local petsmart and the baby happened to be a male albino California king snake
i have a 50% cali king, 25% amel corn, 25% honduran milk snake. she is so beautiful, red eyes, with a leopard print pattern, pink, orange, and yellow; and she has a orange band around her neck, i just love her.
we have a san Luis patosi kingsnake and she's amazing!
I LOVE THOSE!!!! JEALOUS
My wife is allowing me to get a snake! :) You have my subscriptions
Congrats! Thanks John!
I have 2 ,a banded and a lilac ,I’ve had both for about 8 years , the banded is extremely tame . The lilac on the other hand is quite aggressive ,when he does bite I can get him loose by just holding him under the faucet ,room temp. He lets loose .Never try to pull them off or shake them loose , this will pull their teeth out causing them to get a severe infection ,and will usually kill them
I NEEDED THISSSSS
For sure 😉
Nice to be able to handle..
I honestly love the name dot
Tod is better
@@andydarby52 That's not creative enough dot is better because of the pattern the snake has like anyone wants to have a snake named Todd XD
FireDragonGamingYT Oh hell nahh “Dot” 😭 “Tod” ?!! 💀 y’all can do BETTER
Great video, very informative! I'm doing my research before I get my first kingsnake, and I wondered if you have any tips for how to respond (i.e. how to not hurt the snake) if you make a mistake and they bite. You mentioned in this video they don't immediately like to let go. Thanks for your time!
Thanks Katherine! Alcohol or mouth wash typically work, some give them a tap on the nose, but I just pry them off carefully. For someone not comfortable with kings I'd use the mouthwash/alcohol method
nice video
Thanks man
California Kings! ❤️
Yes!
That dot dash pattern reminds me of Morris code so you could name her sonar or radar.
dang, that's quite a production
white diamond would be a good name for her. cool snakes.
Liked the info 😊👍
Thank you!
I actually just caught one of these just last week
Cali and Florida Kings are awsome
It’s just hard to imagine them eat the rattle snake with that cute small mouth
just look at them on youtube lol.
Scarlet
ty so much for thiss video broski
I found a yellow and black banded kinganake crossing the road and he was very tame and let me pick him up and handle him no problem but he looks like he has some old injuries, I took him home but I'm not sure if keeping him is the right thing to do. Suggestions?
I had a C. kingsnake named Aesklepia. Aesklepios was the Greek god of healing. His symbol is a snake wrapped around a pole -the Staff Of Aesklepios. Do not confuse this with the Caduceus. It has two snakes wrapped about a t-shaped pole and is a.k.a. the Staff Of Hermes (Latin: Mercury). Aesklepia is the feminine of Aesklepios.. The Latin form is Aesculapias, I believe. Aesklepios' daughter was Hygeia -goddess of hygiene -hence the name. Another possible name is Ophis. This was my bull snake. It is the Greek word meaning "snake". So here are some possible snake names.
My young CalKing is so fast that it’s hard for me to grab/handle him. It makes me nervous and I’m also afraid that I’m either going to drop him or grab him too tightly. Is it okay to wait until they get older to train them for handling or is that too late? If it’s recommended that I keep working with handing now, any tips for my squirmy worm would be greatly appreciated. I think he is about 4-5 months old. Thanks!
Very nice. Would a wild specimen be a better pet alternative or a store bought baby one?
California King snake was my first reptile.
Thoughts on a dot dash cali King? Just purchased one but haven't heard of them before.
Awesome video!! And very informative!! Just one question, are male California kingsnakes most of the time larger then the female Cali kingsnakes as adults?????
Thanks.
Thank you! Yes, males are larger than females
I'm looking into getting a cali king within 6-12 months. I have had one snake (pueblan milk snake) for about 3 months and I'm curious on what size of a vivarium I would need as well as if females ever lay eggs without breeding, infertile of course.
Cali Kings rule. I would like one of the striped kind. I love the mountain kings also. The Pyromelana. Cary in Tucson.
The ones we got here in AZ are all black with white bands down the body
I’ve had one for 12 years
I have an Albino Cali king, her name is Kiwi
Belladonna or Lilith sound like pretty names 😊 Athena possibly?
I call your king snake "I love you"!!! My king snake in my childhood, I called "kingy"
Nymphadora!
Yes, any king snake is a good pet. Even first pet snakes. California's are pretty, but I'm a huge lampropeltis alterna fan.
I'm still stuck on the hognose for some odd reason, but this video is really convincing. I don't know which snake to choose! D:
They both have some attitude haha kings are better feeders but hogs are bluffers not biters
Port City Pythons I like the attitude, lol. But why don't people feed the hognose frogs and toads? Wouldn't they eat more if it was a part of their diet?
There's just no cost efficient and safe way to do it. Unfortunately, it's just a little risky to feed them wild toads and frogs
Luna - for her moon spot pattern.
That's very good!
I have a California king snake he's a couple months old and I can't seem to get him to get use to me any tips and tricks to get him to trust me
How did you manage to handle them? My baby king snake is very feisty.
Love to know length they get.
We've just been given a five year old male, but we are having trouble getting him out his vivarium. He has only ever had one owner, so we are trying to get him used to our scent before handling ect. We've only had him for a week and he definitely feeds well. Could anyone give us some tips about getting him out? He's very territorial.
Just use a snake hook. Also know that some of these guys are just very food motivated and wont be 100% trustworthy or "tame"
New sub
I’d call her “Speckles” mate. Looks awesome tho. In your opinion do you feel there’s much difference between corns and kings? Like the husbandry and overall care?
Do you have any videos like this about the hognose
Not yet!
what should i have in my cali kings cage?
Dave
I just got a Cali king and am having some questions about lighting? Is it necessary to have lighting for the enclosure or can I just go without it?
It doesn't hurt to have lighting but it isn't necessary
Are arizona mountain kingsnakes about the same as in like temperment and husbandry
Very different! I'd ask a reputable breeder. I don't have any but I have heard they are more challenging
Thank you for this video. I just adopted one of these babies and I'm still a bit fearful of picking her up again after she bit me once (in hindsight, I probably grabbed her too hard so she got mad lol). Any tips for the winter? Do they hiberbate? Do I need to feed them at all, or give them some heating during the winter? (It rarely freezes where I live)
They just really like food. I wouldn't hibernate unless you are breeding. It isn't necessary. Just carry on as usual
How bad does the bite hurt?
I think you should name her Domino
Seen this snake in the woods in south Carolina
