What type of photography (apart from portrait) would you use f1.2 aperture for?
I'm thinking of with how fast it is trying to do some astrophotography composite/Panaroma shots.

Thank you for this review, great as always! I was basically unable to contain myself when this lens came out. I was so excited for this lens that I picked this as the first prime to pair with a brand new A7Riv. I even chose to get this first over another most desired lens, the Zeiss 50mm 1.4 Planar. I use this in a studio setting and have had great results.

Own the lens and you are absolutely right in that you must have the right body to make it work. On my a7rIII it misses focus quite a lot with eye AF. On an A9 or newer bodies however, it's spot-on. It's still a keeper for me as one day I will hopefully switch to a better body (maybe the new a7IV coming this year?)

Nice review as always mate ! Own this lens since one year on my S1 and lately on S5 too , love it , but in manual focus is very slow and bad
that's just how it is. I always say that whatever gear you have, you should make it work for you. Focus by wire is a nightmare for many but if that's what you got, you gonna learn it's shortcomings and make it work for you just fine.
@@PavSZ I know what u mean I own 24-70 mm art L mount and 14-24 mm , but manual focus works far better , the problem in this lens is in close up focus , super slow , also after new firmware that claim to make this lens working with “ linear “ options

Hi dear. I want to buy Sigma 35 1.2 and I have a question.
Do you think the amount of separation between subject and background in full-length portraits on the Sigma 1.2 compared to the Sony 1.4 is significant enough for me to tolerate the weight and size of the Sigma?
the difference will be minimal, probably hard to tell unless you compare the shots from both of these lenses side by side

I thought the 105mm f1.4 is the flagship lens of the ART series? I have it and soon to have that 35mm f1.2
Love the 105mm f1.4 - shooting with it right now - review coming in couple of weeks
@@PavSZ it is a pain in the ass to shoot in 1 hour straight event shooting but the images.... beyond a 70-200 f2.8 i used... a different League similar to a 105 f2.5 ai nikon I used to shoot, but better in low light.

f1.4 lens is much smaller and lighter than this so it depends on what your needs really.
This is a superb lens in every way but weight could be a issue if you run and gun a lot.
@@PavSZ ok. What about image quality and manual focusing for video compare with new 1.4 dgdn.
@ they are very similar. I think f1.2 version might be a better overall quality wise but there is not much difference in between.
Manual focusing is the same - focus by wire on both.
