    Good to hear from you! I bought most of the basic hardware for my own laser cutter (based on your plans), but COVID really locked things off when I was waiting on everything to arrive from overseas. The angled bracket connectors (which you filed down) in particular took somewhere around four months to get here! The project is on hold for a bit but I'm definitely glad I held off on buying the pricier parts, like the laser tube.

    Glad to see a new video from you, your channel helped a lot starting out in co2 lasers
    What do you think of spraying the workpiece with small amounts of water to achieve nearly the same results as using masking tape? I found that on large orders and especially with a lot of small pieces time spent removing the tape and money spent on it increases greatly
    It has a limit as wood for example bends when drying after this process, but small pieces tend to resist this

  • @exheil
    @exheil 3 роки тому

    Hi. Hope all's well. So here's a question: you mentioned you scale things to get them cut. Is there a particular reason you opt for this approach vs. using offset? I'm guessing it's to do with efficiency, but was really unsure about how that'd affect finger joints and pocket holes in the piece.

    • @FurtherFabrication
      @FurtherFabrication  3 роки тому +1

      Great question. So in the case of the treasure chest, I'd designed that with the correct offsets for 3.1mm thick material, however the bamboo ply I ended up using was closer 3.3mm thick. So it's easier just to bump up the scale than redo all the slots. That would of course increase the offsets but it seems to workout fine if you're only scaling it a small amount, as the difference is usually less than the variation in material thickness anyways.

      It depends heavily on the Material
      I build a Y1200/80W myselfe and I was able to cut 15mm Acrylic with a different lense
      But in terms of Wood, it gets burned really quick, I made a MDF 'X-Mas Tree' in 9mm and I did 3 Cuts to prevent burning
      If I get a new Material I use one of the 'Lasercut Sample' Parts of Thingiverse
