WHAT A MONSOON STORM LOOKS LIKE IN ARIZONA

- I was out of town when this Monsoon Storm blew through last night, but my husband captured it on his cell phone. I thought I'd share it with those of you who are curious about the weather in Arizona. We not only deal with extreme heat in the months of July & August, we can get sudden monsoon thunderstorms that can be quite dangerous. We had no damage at my home, but I know others weren't so fortunate.
When I lived in Phoenix, I remember how much I looked forward to the Monsoon season. I love rain and storms, and after months of desert heat, the storms that rolled in during the monsoon were not only breathtaking, but such a relief for my rain-loving soul. And there is nothing better than the smell of the desert after the rain--the creosote bushes especially. Just amazing! Thanks for sharing this--brings back many wonderful memories of my time in the Valley of the Sun!
Yes! You nailed it. 👌🏼 Nothing beats the smell after the storm.
as a person with severe panic and fobia to rain and storms... i envy u
Arizona monsoons are nothing but good old fashioned desert fun.
Ooo, bringing back Monsoon memories! Sorry Marcy, it looks refreshing to me. I have lived all around Arizona and it's soo beautiful! Plus, I love the dry heat and monsoon season there. It can be dangerous sometimes. Thanks for sharing this! It's great!
Oh, I LOVE watching it, too. In fact, I was disappointed I wasn’t home for this one. But, then again, we didn’t have any damage. It would be a different story if that happened.
@@marcyinspired1442 for sure! Glad you didn't have any serious damage.
The saving grace of the Sonoran summer! The humidity is tough though. Thanks for sharing-I miss those summer storms.
So true. Fortunately, it doesn’t stay humid long. The dry ground soaks it up so fast.
Hi Marcy! ☺️😁😊 I sure hope you get some relief from the heat! Albuquerque has been hot as heck, but not as hot as where you are.
I was in New Mexico for the weekend and was surprised it was as hot as it was. But, still can’t compare to Phoenix. I’ll just be staying indoors the next couple of weeks. 🥵☀️🔥
My grandmother (dad's side) lived in Scottsdale AZ for 30 years from 1989 until she passed away in March 2020 from a heart attack. I was usually in Arizona during March and April before the extreme summer heat kicked in. The last time I was there was December 2014. It did drizzle one day that December when I was there but nothing crazy. I live on Long Island (New York) and it rains all the time. In summer, strong thunderstorms can pop up out of nowhere. We also get very high humidity which is muggy and gross. The humidity is stifling at night as well. In winter we get snow but because we're on the coast, snow is less common then in central and western NY but we do get it. Winters in NY are bitterly cold. I hate being hot so I definitely prefer cooler weather. You can always put on another layer when it's cold but there's no way to escape heat if you're outside.
I live in Buckeye...these storms are amazing
For sure! They should be starting up again real soon now that we're going into July.
I love that backyard!❤️
Exactly! we do get crazy monsoon weather 😬🙂
I saw that Mesa had a lot of damage with winds 65mph.
We are enjoying Monsoons right now. :)
You must be out near Phoenix. I can't live in that kind of heat. Years ago I lived in Las Vegas for 5 years but I really don't know how I managed. I'm in Elephant Butte now (I know you know where that is. I think you said you were from NM) and it's hot but not THAT kind of hot. Lovely back yard. If you didn't get roasted enough during the day, you can slip into your hot tub and finish the cooking process. 🤣
Yes, I'm from New Mexico and am very familiar with Elephant Butte. Most of my family is in the southern part of the state, but now my daughter lives in Albuquerque. I was actually visiting my sister in Silver City over the weekend when this storm hit in Arizona. It's always so much cooler in Silver City, but I was surprised how warm it was. Of course, nothing in comparison to Arizona. Your comment cracked me up. You pretty much nailed it. Maybe I can do a cooking video in the hot tub! 😂
Glad that there was no damage to.your property & nobody got hurt.
Yes. Thanks to God. We know to take it seriously as soon as the winds start to kick up. It turns dangerous real quick.
@@marcyinspired1442 Weather is unpredictable, powerful and uncontrollable. Hope your neighbors got through it unscathed. I made your chile rellenos and your video was most helpful. Thx so much.
@@tracychavez7914 You are so right. And I'm thrilled to hear you found the chile rellenos video helpful. ☺
I hope your husband isn’t trying out for camera man on the Weather Channel during hurricane season…he is good.
🤣😂😂 He better not!
Hiii
You are so pretty and stay safe
Awe. Thank you.
I agree it, it's very trusty selectively I live in the desert but not too thirsty. The only difference is between the city and the desert. It drops by fine degrees, that's it.
Oh my goodness Marcy that is scary I am happy that you are okay and there's no damage at all...
Thanks. As scary as they can be, I'm always in awe at the same time.
I love the monsoon storms. They are fun, especially when you're inside playing BINGO with your friends or family.
