Nick Hentschel not even just evidence just poor work in general one woman got kidnapped after calling the police 3 times and no one was sent they even investigated the crime scene poorly
True, but I'm making a more specific point: in science (including criminology, or even ufology and cryptozoology), it's a breach of ethics to destroy or omit either your raw data or the evidence you tested. For example, in this case, the bones on Nikumaroro.
There's a difference between a metal behemoth of a ship that they knew what happened to and an extremely light and small plane where they don't where in the world it even is close to.
@@froggytimmy8643 well tbf the titanic was gonna be somewhere in the atlantic ocean and wasn't all that close to where it sank AND split in two, but amelia's plane(if it crashed in the ocean) shouldn't have been all that far from the last place they reported, near the island.
@@alibrooks7495 I'm saying that if that were true, the plane would be so light, it literally wouldn't exist anymore. It would have been pulled to pieces in the ocean, the bodies would have rotted, and any remaining tiny pieces of the plane would be sent around the world by the currents.
Theory: Just wanted to mention something that has become apparent to me after watching this episode many times. The shoe that was found and deemed not Amelia’s due to the fact that it was a too big for her I believe was overlooked. It’s very common for legs and feet to swell while travelling, especially by plane. I believe it’s very likely it was her shoe, and because of said swelling she may have worn larger shoes.
If she was around 5'8 or 5'9 a size 9 in mens wouldn't be over the top huge. Big, sure, but maybe she had big feet? Add on thick socks, a roomier shoe to make up for having to wear them for long stretches, and the slight swelling factor.
What about Noonan? If they were planning on travelling together then they probably bought equipment and stuff together, so from the same brand. Size 9 for a man is much more likely?
The funny thing is, they did find Amelia's remains, but the man who investigated her bones said her skeleton was too sharp and angular to belong to a girl.
I find it interesting that Earhart was also particularly involved with women's issues and supporting women's aviation. She fought for changing the draft to include men, women, and elderly, and she promoted birth control. She wrote books about society's gender roles and their stupidity. And then at the height of her fame, she vanished. That's fishier than that combed ocean. ALSO, I would like to point out that Amelia Earhart earned all these achievements and awards without military training like most male aviators had, and because she was a woman, she had a smaller, less expensive plane than male aviators had, and she STILL beat male aviators asses.
Niksa Nico It wasn’t proven that she crashed into the ocean, and even if she did it wasn’t her fault lmao. Someone feels threatened it’s possible for a woman to achieve more then men huh 🤔
Same. And I thought everyone thought she got lost in the bermuda triangle as well. I even remember watching documentaries of her crashing somewhere in the Atlantic. It really messes me up I think this is an example of the mandela effect.
I think it's possible that Earhart and Noonan crashed in the ocean and while the plane was sinking that's when those messages the girl found were heard, like they were stuck inside and couldn't get out. Noonan obviously never made it off the plane either dying on impact or after the crash. However, Earhart was able to figure a way off the plane and swam to that nearby island where she built that fire and where the Sekstant was found. The studies of the bones that were discovered later showed that they could have belonged to a taller than average woman and Earhart WAS TALLER THAN AVERAGE, and that makes it definitely possible that the bit of shoe sole was hers as well. I mean, I'm about 5'8 ish and my feet are about 9 1/2 - 10 inches in size. Regardless, she attempted to survive as long as she could, but without a source for food and probably sustaining many injuries, it makes sense that she wouldn't have lasted more than a week if she could find water. If no water was to be found then that would cut it down to a few days. Especially given the brute force the elements would have had on her. In the end, she died of starvation and her body wad eaten by the coconut crabs, explaining why only 12 of the bones remained. It's not unsolved, people just like the air of mystery that hangs about it. It's also extremely easy to fly over your destination, especially back then with less advanced navigation. There are dozens of cases of pilots going missing due to getting caught in jet streams and losing their navigation. Earhart is no different considering the radio message told us that she was way higher than she was supposed to be. In conclusion, the only unsolved bit is what happened to the rest of the plane, and the absence of Noonan's body. Either way. Thanks for listening to my TED talk lol.
They find a sole of a shoe the same brand she’s been pictured wearing but it’s a size 9 so couldn’t be hers...what size shoe was the male navigator who was with her in the plane? 9?
It's also perfectly within the realm of possibility that she did actually wear size 9's. I'm within her estimated height range and wear size 9 shoes. If you look at height to shoe size averages for women, it's completely plausible that size 9s would have fit her. Even if her feet were smaller, she could have been wearing larger shoes (as others have pointed out) to wear more layers of socks and insulate herself better.
@@carolinemcguire6224 great point! They didn’t actually say that wasn’t her size, they just assumed it wasn’t. Surely that’s quite easy to check? Her friends/family would probs have vaguely known her shoe size
Im a girl shorter than Amelia, and I have size 9 shoes, I'd say with a few layers of socks or a thick pair of socks it's very possible that the shoe was hers.
What if she got stuck in another dimension where she’s either forever flying or repeatedly trying to land on the island she was supposed to but it’s just a loop
While I like the idea of the picture of Earhart and Noonan on the island what irks me so much is Hoodless who disposed of the bones. Even if they weren't Amelia's it's obvious someone was on that island and something or someone died there and the bones should have been sent in for diagnostics. Even if the technology wasn't up to snuff they could have kept the evidence preserved. Like I said even if it's not Amelia that's someone's body if not a larger animal
people are ignoring the fact that in the radio call amelia earhart said "The water is knee high" i think the plane crashed and begain sinking so that they were trapped in a airpocket in the plane, and therefore she said the water was knee high
or the plane crashed in the water, close to the island. They got to the island and the plane sunk, but then low tide made the plane visible for a short period of time, making the radio usable until high tide. A few hours later and its was low tide again and they went back. Repeat the cycle till they ran out of coconut water and died, then the crabs eat their bodies and some idiot throws out the bones.
You guys should do a series of 'True Crime Solved'. As much as I like learning about the unknown of our world, I also like understanding why people do what they do. It would finally give Shane some justice as well.
yess like talking about cold cases that were eventually solved and still getting into the previous theories before solved but then telling the answer to the mystery and discussing it.
And then your parents start asking if you're Amelia Earhart. "It's ok if you're Amelia sweetheart, your father and I still love you all the same." "Mom! I'm not Amelia Earhart! How can you even ask that?" "Well I just wanted to be sure. You're sure? Because I'll be honest, we lost you at the mall one time and you could have easily been switched out. We wouldn't have noticed." Of course, the irony is we now live in a world where someone can claim to identify as Amelia Earhart, and it's an "-ist" to ask for evidence.

Fun story, maybe nsfw- Some years ago while driving down a very long road on the way to the beach, my bladder was ready to burst and I couldn't hold it in any longer. We passed by an old abandoned church and it was the only place I could pee. I went behind it and did my business. When I looked up I read a sign 'This stone was placed in the memory of Amelia Earheart' and it had an image of a plane and her birth and death. I looked down at my puddle and stared in horror. It was square in the middle of the site. I ran back to the car and we pulled off. I later learned that that church was a historical site. I got home and searched her up and was mortified. Now every time I read her name, I think about that fateful day where desperate times called for desperate measures.
Well try not to beat yourself up you had no way of knowing, plus I know from experience how an extremely full bladder can change the way someone thinks.

Amelia Earhart’s disappearance was actually solved! She crashed onto an island, and once she was able to send transmissions of distress calls, operators ignored and disregarded them. She ended up dying of illness on the island. (Yes, I know this is an old episode. Just thought it was interesting.)
Ananya T I Think: Since the crash was a long time ago, the system that tracks that stuff wasn’t advanced and would probably glitch often, so they paid no attention to it.

@@annietanjavur4080 From what Ive read, people either chalk it up to technical glitches (such as Cynthia pointed out) or - according to some other sources - misogyny and such.
An interesting aspect of communications with the flight is that Earhart never acknowledged any of the voice transmissions directed toward her airplane during that fateful flight. Ric Gillespie (TIGHAR) believes this was because the receiving antenna was ripped off of the plane's belly during the high-weight takeoff from Lae. The transmitting antenna atop the airplane was fine, so Earhart's transmissions were heard OK. Radio navigation was essential to ensure Howland could be found, so Earhart asked Itasca to transmit a beacon on 7500 kHz which she could track using the Electra's DF loop antenna atop the cockpit. She reported reception of the 7500 transmission, but the loop gave no null so she could not determine a bearing to Itasca. In fact, the problem was that the DF loop was only designed to be directional below 1500 kHz, and Amelia's misunderstanding of this fact was likely what led to her loss. Interestingly, she had tested the DF loop with HF transmissions at Lae, the test of course failed, but she departed anyway. She may well have thought, I will have many opportunities to test the DF loop during this flight by taking bearings on commercial broadcast stations and aeronautical beacons, and I can always turn back if it doesn't work. But it would have worked, because those stations would have been under the loop's 1500 kHz limit. She did not realize the flaw in her 7500 kHz plan. There was a missed opportunity for success at Howland. Even with the loss of her main receiving antenna, she was able to receive the 7500 beacon when her receiver's antenna selector was in the "loop" position. The Itasca did not have voice transmission capability on 7500, but had Earhart left the antenna switch in the loop position when she switched back to 3105, she would have received Itasca's voice transmission on 3105. The Coast Guard had their own plan, which Amelia knew nothing of, to transmit the homing beacon on 333 kHz. If they had 2-way communication with Earhart, they could have tried this plan and she likely would have landed safely on Howland.

Theory:
Just wanted to mention something that has become apparent to me after watching this episode many times. The shoe that was found and deemed not Amelia’s due to the fact that it was a too big for her I believe was overlooked. It’s very common for legs and feet to swell while travelling, especially by plane. I believe it’s very likely it was her shoe, and because of said swelling she may have worn larger shoes.
And thick socks because of the cold.
Besides, I wear 1.5 sizes bigger because I’m a waitress and walk a lot.
If she was around 5'8 or 5'9 a size 9 in mens wouldn't be over the top huge. Big, sure, but maybe she had big feet? Add on thick socks, a roomier shoe to make up for having to wear them for long stretches, and the slight swelling factor.
Yes, that's what I was thinking! Also, I don't see how size 9s are that implausible. I'm only 5'6 and I wear size 8 shoes.
What about Noonan? If they were planning on travelling together then they probably bought equipment and stuff together, so from the same brand. Size 9 for a man is much more likely?
@@turtlemart9612 Finally someone said!
The funny thing is, they did find Amelia's remains, but the man who investigated her bones said her skeleton was too sharp and angular to belong to a girl.
Realistically there are a lot of masculine looking women out there so

Bitch, let me be pointy.
I have a lot of questions for the guy who analyzed the bones then threw them away. Even if they’re not Amelia or Noonan, they’re someone.
ALSO, I would like to point out that Amelia Earhart earned all these achievements and awards without military training like most male aviators had, and because she was a woman, she had a smaller, less expensive plane than male aviators had, and she STILL beat male aviators asses.
beat male aviators asses = crashes into ocean
Niksa Nico It wasn’t proven that she crashed into the ocean, and even if she did it wasn’t her fault lmao. Someone feels threatened it’s possible for a woman to achieve more then men huh 🤔

Either way.
Thanks for listening to my TED talk lol.

his existence just disappeared in their minds
@@DTMQ clearly, no one seems to be looking for him...seems like that could easily be his shoe.

I think she was talking to noonan to let her out of the plane because she was using the radio inside.
That's the radio call heard by that girl, not a legit one.
or the plane crashed in the water, close to the island.

”let me spin you a yarn that you shan’t soon forget.I’m being eaten alive by crabs right now.”
I'm reading this in the Moonbase Alpha text-to-speech voice
You ain't neither, so knock it off. I mean if ya won't to.
i cant like, the likes are too perfect
@@w1nd0w42 you can now
@@feifeixeizner2007now i can and did
why didn't they have more then one scientist examine the bones you don't know if he made mistakes
UA-cam Channel I know I accidentally commented it at the wrong time! 😆 😂 🤣
"A size 9 shoe, which would've been too big for Earhart."
*Me, who is the same height as her, and wears a size 9:* Looks like you guys found Bigfoot.
right! i didn't understand that part. maybe it was because humans used to be like, smaller? i'm 5'6 and wear a 9-10. the average female shoe size is also a 9, and the average female height is 5'4, which i know women that are that height with that shoe size, sometimes even shorter.
@@kianaminajj right! I am 5'4 and wear a size 8 or 9 depending on the brand. So I don't know why they think it's improbable.
I’m 5’2” and wear a size 10 (US) shoe. Therefore, I’m a Yeti!
@@kianaminajj Sure. They did, but it was like 80-90 years ago, and the evolution in height takes hundred of years.
It could be Noonan's shoe or someone else's who died there. dk why they didn't investigate that further.
The girl heard a female voice arguing with a disoriented male voice
Amelia: Noonan pull yourself together!
Noonan: *draws a face on a coconut* hello mr. Coconut, you’re our new friend. Oh look you brought a crab friend with you
Even though is not Amelia or Noonan's bones , don't they want to know whose bones is ? Why would they discarded the bone ?
I think that scientist was hiding something. I think they probably were Amelia's bones.
Cause' why not?
Well on the show expedition unknown, josh gates located what are believed to be the bones that were discarded under a house in fiji
I love the mustaches used to illustrate assumed names

Can we just re analyze everything? I feel like work done in the 1940s isn’t as scientific as what we have today
strangebrew420 exactly especially with those missing bones and radio signals we can definitely use a filter or a more advanced detector to figure out what really happened
Well yeah, they would have modern DNA technology they could of used today but... he threw out the bones!
Yeah humans thought they really knew everything back then, remember when they thought smoking was good for you?
we cant because that stupid man threw away the bones.
@@thewatcher9546 People 100 years from now gonna be saying the same thing about us. Imagine if fruits or smth turned out to be poisinous
Probably one of my favorite cases on the show so far. Regardless of what happened to Amelia & Norman, at least they both died doing what they loved & were experts in their field & recognized for it, to the point Amelia is still considered a household name a near century later.
My great grandmother always told me stories about the lady who was rescuide by my grandfather. She told me that he was out fishing when an airplane crashed into the ocean. He rowed closer and was able to help a young woman out of the plane. She kept saying "we have to help him" but my grandfather didn't see anyone else on the plane as it sank into the ocean. The lady died 3 days later because of her injuries. My grandmother was of Japanese desendance she lived in the Marshall island so, its possible I don't know.

getting eaten alive by giant crabs sounds pretty terrifying honestly
Agreed horrible way to go out
That is why the navy does not want you to know.
Probably wasn’t alive
This was solved on International Women's Day 2018 !!!! Her bones were found and identified on an island but it turns out she'd actually been discovered in 1941 but the man thought the skeleton was a short, stocky male because "a woman wouldn't be flying out over here" or some crap. But yeah, she was found and can rest now !!!
Metradell Vy'orei why what happened like did she crash there n die or ?
Metradell Vy'orei they were found in Russia in a hot dog costume
no that was just a woman skeleton. it COULD be Earhearts, but probably just a different person
Doubt if it was her
Queen Rena they said they’re 99.5 % sure that it was her

Amelia was my childhood icon. I love her story so much and knowing she’s still lost to the world makes me so sad :(
She was also my hero when I was younger! I remember thinking she was super cool because she did something that people said she couldn't, even though she disappeared
She’s a symbol for feminine freedom and women who wanna dream big
@Henry-sd7vd men have been screwing up freedom since the beginning of civilization 🤣is it okay cuz they're men?

2020: 40 hours to fly around the world
It's quite interesting that, after many years, investigators are now looking into the mysterious disappearance of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan thanks to the discovery of a sunken plane which could be Earhart's; still, authorities have to determine whether or not the plane belonged to Earhart as well as uncover the circumstances surrounding Earhart and Noonan's vanishing.🤔

Throw ‘em out!
These bones don’t belong to nobody. Get rid of ‘em! Now.... back to my hunch.
