THIS CASE PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH. I can't believe that this guy literally invented movies, something horrible happened to him, and someone else got the credit. I'm so mad.
it is really sad to be honest. I have a feeling that if we dig deep enough we soon find out that what we learn in our history class is not entirely true.
Not only did someone else get the credit, but to this day, even though the true is in Louis Le Prince' favour, Edison still gets credit. It's so sad, and like you, it pisses me off.
Amber Warren same as whites taking blacks inventions, songs, and other things they made and put I off as there own for centuries. 👀

Because he's French. America don't want no one getting credit but America
@@KillasaurusArcade01 That's true...

I've actually impressed my Film history & theory lecturer with the information presented here and after some extra research from both of us, my lecturer decide to update his teaching material and highlight Louis Le Prince, to take his deserved glory place in film history as the father of moving pictures. mrs obama it’s even worse when u realize that the whole reason he did it was to discredit nikola Tesla’s invention of AC to make Edison’s DC seem better. By the way, most lights today do not even utilize Edison’s direct current, yet he still largely gets credit for it
Did u get this info from a Bob’s Burgers episode 😂 bc I totally remember that episode
actually, he's also the one who suggested death penalty by electric chair using AC, to associate Tesla's invention with death. So yes, he indirectively electrocuted human to death too.

It’s sad that buzzfeed exists
People Edison stole from:
-Tesla
-Joseph Swan, the ACTUAL inventor of the lightbulb
-Louis LePrince
-Wilhelm Rontgen, inventor of the XRay machine
-Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville, inventor of the sound recorder
EDIT: To everyone saying that Rontgen received credit, it is true, but as soon as Edison heard that such an idea was possible, he tried to build his own X-ray machine with the intent on taking credit from Rontgen. He stopped working on his X-ray machine when it killed his assistant Clarence Dally. Thankfully everyone still acknowledges who the real inventor was but it could’ve easily went the other way
Before Joseph swan was Warren De la Rue who made the light bulb in 1840 but it wasn't economically cost efficient. But I agree plenty of people made it before Edison got the credit which is bogus.
honestly i think willhelm rontgen still sorta is known for xray cause in swedish xray is Röntgen, so in sweden he got the name atleast, but i cant deny that edison is thief and an a hole

Side Note:- In 2003, the Paris Police, while going through old archives discovered a photograph of a man who strongly resembled Louis Le Prince drowned in a river near to the tracks where the train Le Prince boarded was supposed to be going through, its most likely Edison's men stole his suitcase in the train itself and threw him out of the train into the river, the date on the photograph was also written around late Sept 1890, around the time Le Prince disappeared.

UnPhayzable ♥♥♥OR MAYBE, IT WAS ACTUALLY THOMAS EDISON, HIMSELF, WHO KILLED LOUI LE PRINCE AND STOLE LOUI'S WORKS. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES WHICH PROVES THAT WE SHOULD NOT ALWAYS SIMPLY EASILY BELIEVE INVENTION CLAIMS BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS A BIG POSSIBILITY THAT EVEN LOUI COULD HAVE JUST STOLEN HIS IDEAS FROM SOMEONE ELSE AS WELL. THERE IS ALSO A BIG POSSIBILITY THAT THIS SPECIFIC KIND OF CRAFT HAS ALREADY BEEN EXISTING WITHIN SOME SECRET POWERFUL FAMILIES WITH KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITY INHERITED FROM THEIR GREAT GREAT GRANDPARENTS SINCE THE FAR ANCIENT PAST, PROBABLY EVEN BEFORE THE GREAT WORLDWIDE FLOOD. THE PRE-FLOOD HUMAN CIVILIZATION WAS VERY POWERFUL AND OVERWHELMINGLY SOPHISTICATED BECAUSE THEY HAD THE 200 ANGELS, AND CHILDREN OF THE 200 ANGELS, LIVING AMONGST THE WHOLE HUMANITY. I AM PRETTY SURE THAT THEIR CRAFTS WERE COMPLETELY FAR MORE SUPERIOR THAN OURS TODAY. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, PLEASE READ THE BOOK OF GENESIS CHPATER SIX AND THE BOOK OF ENOCH CHAPTER SIX AS WELL. The fucking truth
thomas edison is cancelled
My theory is simple he was robed sometime after his brother saw him last, note that in 1890 and still today Paris was notorious for petty crime like theft and it was not unusual to be robed in Paris especially if you you were not from there. During the robbery, one or more men tried to steal his brief cases which probably escalated into some type of fight between Louis Le Prince and the robbers, probably because Louis knew that important documents were in the brief case and he did not want anyone to steal his idea. The fight probably ended with Louis beaten and the robbers angered after the discover only drawings and nothing in their minds of important value. Now angered and pissed off that Louis did not have anything important in their minds in his briefcase, they then probably proceeded to toss his briefcase and papers along with his either concision or unconscious body into the river. Due either to his injuries or unconscious Louis probably drowned.
Note: the French police pulled a unidentified man who look very similar to Louis Le Prince from the Seine River the same day he went missing.
Then this sounds like you solved the case.
is there a source for the french police thing I'm doing a report on him
@@poopypants9670 no this is my own assumption
woah...this theory is actually good 0-0
His friends were waiting to pick him up in Paris. This would mean that he would have been "robbed" at some point during his trip to Paris. This raises the question: how could this robbery have gone unnoticed? How could they have dumped his body without anybody else noticing? Not that it matters, but Louis was a large man standing at 6'4...
It's clear that Edison stole the idea though. He lived in the area at the time that Louis disappeared along with the briefcase and lastly, I am sure Edison knows the rules of a missing person patent, so he took this time to get it out there before Louis's family did
it just hit me that we call them “movies” because they move. English is so lame and I love it
I commented this before they mentioned it in the video. And I will also be referring to my shoes as “steppies” from now on.

Moons_of_Avalon he did make it look like so (like he did invent it) for a long time, though, and that is kind of impressive...
seriously can none of you read? or even like…listen to what they're actually saying in the video
He literally stole everything, I agree with you completely
Moons_of_Avalon you're being ironic. Can you even read? Because you're really not getting it
Edison was a thief. The Simpsons have even stated this in an episode "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace", when they claim Edison was still "inventing" and stole Homer's idea of the electric hammer, and 6-legged chair.
I come back to this episode often, and am always filled with rage at the injustice of his name being forgotten, and with sadness at how hard his family continued to fight for him. Louis, I promise if anyone eever brings up Edison as the inventor of moving pictures, I will absolutely correct them.
Edison - he's that one guy in your team who takes all the credit for a project you all worked on while he did nothing.
The history books must be updated. Put the names of the rightful inventors next to their inventions! Don't put Edison!
Update: thank you so much for all the likes. And I just realized that Ryan and Shane could have included Louis Le Prince in their seance session in "Weird and Wonderful World" on their Watcher channel. They could have asked Louis what really happened to him!

It must've been so painful for Elizabeth to see Edison become famous knowing that she could do nothing
I feel like we're at a time in history where we could go back and give proper credit to those who actually deserved it the most. Also bizarre to me as I watch these, a lot happened in the world during 1888 and such. Imagine creating moving pictures while the same time something like Jack the Ripper was doin his thing. Like we kind of isolate and look at history piece by piece but a lot happened at the exact same time

this one was really interesting. it never ceases to amaze me how much history books actually teach "history" incorrectly.
I don't think it's incorrectly taught for the most part. Rather different parts in the world will tell it differently depending on what side they were on and their perspective. Great example for this the 80 year war between Spain and the Netherlands. I was taught that us the dutch were finally free and spain was oppressing the dutch and mistreating them. But someone from spain might tell it differently. Really you'll get what really happened if you take all the sides and pick out all the facts that BOTH or more parties all agree up on
The USA does this horribly
You know what they say, "history is written by the victors"
Pooooooo
Yeah. You should compare a british secondary school book to an Irish one... it's quite telling.

Maya Adams or maybe he used obliviate on le prince himself so he forgot where he was supposed to go and "disappeared"
Aditi Rao haha good point but it's more likely he killed him
I don'y know why but the fact that guy who invented moving pictures was like 6'4" with a huge mustache makes me happy
If Louis was in debt by around 80,000 and was going to get an inheritance of 140,000 I don’t think he would just disappear somewhere
Plus, he is about to make a great breakthrough with his moving pictures camera. So i don't think he is so upset with the debt to the point he simply wants too dissapear.

I mean Edison also fucked around with Tesla's inventions as far as I know, so I'm really not suprised about him being involved in this 🤔
Edison was a fucking selfish-ass trash-ass greedy monster and Tesla for sure never got the recognition he deserved. I literally didn't even learn about Tesla in school ffs.
Exactly! Tesla's electricity was supposed to be free and energy efficient. Edison's direct current (combustible) electricity is actually harmful to the environment in comparisons to Tesla's alternating current which was in a sense using the electromagnetic fields of the earth in a way that was harmless. Also, the reason Edison's idea won over Tesla's is because people would have to be charged to use it, meaning more money for the people providing it. If you are interested you should look up the Ancient Egyptian pyramids, solely the middle one where scientists are starting to believe it was used as a type of electricity for the civilization, JUST like Tesla's tower.
If Tesla's electricity is harmless why aren't we using it to fix our problems?
It isn't, it also wasnt proven to accually work
Because he wasn't going to charge people to use it, like I clearly stated earlier. People (by people I mean the one's controlling our technology) don't want to provide us free anything because then they would not be making any money. It's pretty simple.
This is why I have no respect for Edison as an inventor. He was an incredible businessman, even selling off electricity to the dismay of Tesla, but not an inventor. He even bought the patent for the lightbulb, then paid people to make it better.
Exactly, he uses the laws to his advantage to steal others ideas.
Schools should teach that though Edison is the legal inventor, Prince made it first.
Terence Andrei Calma lol
Terence Andrei Calma as well as cats and dogs. edison was just a horrible person all the way around and does not deserve the respect and recognition so many people give him.
That why I live be the quote by j Cole “if they don’t know your dreams than they can’t shoot em down” best to do everything yourself because other people would scheme and take advantage
Never heard of him but I sure had heard several stories of this "businessman" Thomas Edison stealing credits from real inventors. Louis Le Prince and several others need the credits they rightfully deserve. Great job covering this Ryan!
The way they vibe off each other is so priceless and hilarious. Love these guys
Let's make this video trend and give back atleast some of the recognition that Le Prince truly deserved. #LouisLePrinceFatherofMotionPictures
Stephen Anna Marydas yes!
People like you and your hashtags are so annoying. You think Louis is somewhere in the afterlife reading social media waiting for his name to pop up in hashtags? Some of you people really need to get a grip on reality.
Akai Otinashi alright relax jheez
Akai Otinashi Who hurt you as a child?
Akai Otinashi
Ur mom is the big gay and ur dad is ultimate lesbian
My respect and admiration for Thomas Edison just went down the drain. Louis Le Prince is the REAL MVP.
Arvi Marie
Yes!
Arvi Marie yepp
Arvi Marie I still respect him
Went down long time ago when I heard the story about Tesla
Arvi Marie read about all the stuff he nicked from Tesla. He was a business man and a bully
Edison certainly chose his thefts wisely! He must've been pretty good at greasing the palms of the right people too, as he got away unscathed on so many occasions. This is soo sad, I mean this guy is the reason why we're watching videos on UA-cam.
I FOUND THIS CASE SO FASCINATING THAT IM DOING A PODCAST ON IT FOR A PROJECT IN COLLEGE. IM SO EXCITED TO LEARN EVEN MORE ABOUT IT, BUT IM WATCHING THIS AGAIN TO REFRESH MY MEMORY!! AHHHH IM SO EXCITED EEEEEEEE!!!!!
HOW’D IT DO?
IM SO MAD RIGHT NOW this is so sad, I feel so bad for this guy (almost 130 years in the future)
Me to
deadlyNightshade789 j
Sameee I’m mad af
deadlyNightshade789 yes your sooo right ! I don't wanna watch this . I mean I am fast forwarding this video . IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL SUCH A TALENT NEVER TO BE HEARD IN HISTORY !
My hatred of Thomas Edison gets stronger and stronger with each passing day
You do realize that if you work for a company they OWN any ideas that you come up with, while working for them? Prince isn't in that category but Tesla is, and any other employees that he "stole" from.
I though i was the only one, edison was true definitition of evil, i would have killed him if i lived in that time, i'll spend my time in prison i don't care i follow my own moralisk tone without doubt! This fucking guy should have died a horrible death, give me a time machine!!!!!!
TheSpasticAvenger yah it’s still morally icky today
TheSpasticAvenger Yea the company can take credit for the idea but thats not to say the CEO or the owner can. So the Edinson Illumination Company couldve taken credit for Tesla's ideas but not Thomas Edinson himself
Lmao I like how you word things
If you are interested in mysteries similar to this case make sure to subscribe to UNSOLVABLE, a brand new series which will be launching next week.
Edison looks like someone who would do something like this
edison steals everything lmao.
Kermit of Rivia he also stole Tesla’s ideas
that scoundrel
Imagine as a child you see your father working countless hours into the night, whimsical pictures around the walls,
and seeing the invention of the first movie only for him to disappear at the time his debut only for another man to later make the same thing years later but you have proof he did it first but can do nothing. This makes me sad :(
And also the theories don’t really have much proof behind them, so it’s hard to even guess what really happened.
I’ve always thought movies was a funny word too. Don’t forget when they finally added sound they called them “talkies” also 🤣
For more mysteries, come across to UNSOLVABLE. New videos every Friday.
i mean imagine putting your own sweat and spit on something you've been working so hard for only to get stolen by some dude named *THOMAS*
THOMAS THE TANK ENGINEEEEEE
@@ngwantsing9070 Thomas the tank engine would never do such a thing
The conductor looks and acts like that type of dude though
bro the guy in your pfp is called *NARANCIA*
@@peenyyt4921 o-okay?💀
My theory is that when Louie boarded that train, the train traveled into an alternate universe where Louie showed his motion picture and was crowned the father of moving pictures.
lol
I wanna cry. I hope thats true
Aww
@Owen Starks 😔😭
So crazy and unbelievable
It must be true
Thank you for existing, Shane!!!!!!! 🥰❤
This is my favorite episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved!
Well here’s one thing, if Louis Le Prince was the inventor of The Movie, he is in my top list of people that made my life better.
Yeah, I can't believe that I've never learned about him! It makes me mad that they think Thomas Edison evented it
"Well, if this were true, then why have I never heard of him?"
Nikola Tesla: **looks at camera**
Thank you for telling of this man and his invention
19:49 I'm glad that Ryan has such a positive view of humanity, it's what makes him perfect for this series. BUT as someone who's seen my mom get death threats from her uncles because they just _thought_ she would ask for her share of inheritance, ppl would definitely be willing to kill someone for a few extra bucks. The ones giving the death threats are rich af while we're from a lower middle class family.I still think Albert didn't kill Louis tho because of Lizzie's memoir.
I learned about Le Prince at a young age from my grandfather, who was a historian. This is so unfair, this guy deserved all the credit for his invention. We should be taught about him in school and textbooks, not Edison!
Hailey V my grade 5 teacher said Edison invented the light bulb I proved her wrong
Human Being who invented it?
Mr Mustache Nikola Tesla
Hailey V i respect you mate
