- A simple curry from Turkey berries is presented in today's video. The Turkey berry is a local plant similar to brinjal, but grows by it's own. The curry from these is healthy and tasty. It is as simple that, we need to fry them together with bird eye chillies by adding ghee, crush them and cook by adding water, salt, tamarind and Jaggery. Add onions and garlic if necessary. And also we have to add tempering.
Ingredients
Turkey berry
Ghee 6 tsp
Birds eye chilli 5
Mustard seeds 1sp
Dry red chilli 1
Curry leaves
Chopped onion 1
Salt to taste
Jaggary small piece (for taste)
Chilli powder 1/2sp
Tamarind

Successfully made this today! It's a lovely, rustic, simple, side dish!! And it went great with plain rice and dal. Very happy with it!! I found only a handful of the kudane berries, on a plant, nearby. And made a tiny amount of gojju. No changes at all. Want to persuade anyone watching the recipe to try it out!! It's rustic and classy. It has a touch of bitterness too! Definitely adding it to my kitchen favourites

I have a friendly suggestion for you. The videos you make are mostly with a focus only on the food items and the process of cooking. Instead of restricting yourself as a regular cooking channel, please try to capture everything around the area, those old kitchens and houses where you cook, your farms and fields, or at least show the entire frame of the person talking while cooking and focus on the food items once in a while.
I believe about 70% of your subscribers are from the city side who do not get most of the vegetables you use for cooking. All your subscribers watch your videos mostly to feel the breeze of the Karavali countryside you show and enjoy your process of cooking.
Hope you consider my suggestion and try to bring a change from the next set of videos.

We in Kerala also usually do not cook this. I think this is not being cooked as tastier items as eggplant (Brinjal) is available that produces larger quantity. This plant grows mostly in wild and not cultivated. We should try to include this in menu.

In Tulu we call this berry as " KAllotte" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This we can find anywhere on road side, it is very useful for stumak pain, heart ailment as we heard regarding this from my mother and grandmother. As in rainy season we regularly get bajji tambuly and kairas from Kallotte and Timare.

It is called as "Sundakkayi" in Tamil and it is used in curry preparations all over Tamilnadu. It is very helpful in eradicating intestinal worms

Very nice.. I remember, this is we used to call as "Sonda Kai" in our language which was used to available in abandant in South Eastern side of the country.. Didn't knew its available in West coast side.. We used to consume it after its dried. It's good for health!!
