Hiking the Howe Sound Crest Trail in a Day! - Vancouver, BC

- The Howe Sound Crest Trail is a difficult hike popular for its incredible views of the Howe Sound and surrounding mountains near Vancouver, British Columbia. Some of the waypoints include: St. Mark's Summit, Unnecessary Mountain, The Lions (Twin Sisters), Magnesia Meadows, Deeks Lake, and more. At almost 30 km long and with almost 2,500 metres elevation gain, most people attempt the HSCT as a multi-day hike, but it can be done in a day if you pack light. I started at Cypress parking lot and was picked up in Porteau Cove. There are practically no water sources from Cypress to Magnesia Meadows, so be sure to bring enough water to get you there!

Did this beautiful hike a couple of times and it is certainly challenging! Good job and thanks for all your effort in walking back to pick up your camera!
Wow, landscapes are truly stunning here. Absolutely marvelous scenery my friend!
Outstanding video, be safe.
Thanks Dave, appreciate the comment!
Thanks for another fantastic proxy hike. You take me places I never knew could be accessed (I grew up here!). Thanks also for being a proxy bug target!😳
Very therapeutic to watch Caleb 😁 when I'm back I'll bring my boots and we'll cover some ground!
That sounds like an incredible plan, Shane! Let's get it :)
Fabulous video. Hope the water filter worked.
So far, so good! Haha
I cant imagine that tiny pack has room for the NSSR 10 essentials
Hi Sammy, thanks so much for the comment.
You can rest assured that I never head into the backcountry without my ten essentials. I’ve put a lot of work into acquiring the ultralight necessities that allow me to travel light while also staying safe. Here’s a quick list of all the 10 essentials that fit into that little daypack of mine:
1) Light: RovyVon A5 rechargeable flashlight with clip to use as headlamp + battery pack to recharge it
2) Signalling device: whistle
3) Fire starter: Bic lighter
4) Warm clothes: thermal layers + Frogg Toggs ultralight raincoat
5) Knife: Opinel No. 6
6) Shelter: reflective emergency bivy
7) Food & Water: I always bring more food than needed + water filter
8) First aid kit
9) Navigation: clip-on Suumo compass + phone GPS + battery pack
10) Cell phone with satellite access
Thanks for watching!
@@calebsavage wow! well done!!
Hi Caleb. i will do this hike mid July. Since Bears are everywhere, are there any sightings you heard just recently? i havent encountered bear my whole life. hope you can give some insights. i will do camping too. thank you
I found there were more bear encounters on Burke Mt in Coquitlam than in the N Shore, for myself. Bring a bear sack/canister , keep away from camp and carry bear spray/bangers just in case. I did have a cougar encounter in Lynn Headwaters two weeks ago. I’m also doing this trail mid July too if you’d like to double up for safety.
@@sammymua9888thanks for the info.. which exact date you will go? your contact please.
I did this hike awhile back. It was a lot tougher than it looks
He went the other way, 2500 m gain is from pc. From cypress is less then 2000. Still long and hard though, I want to do both versions
