Mount Killam & Amigos Peak Hike | Backcountry Camping at Gambier Lake on Gambier Island, BC
On the weekend of June 8-9, we ferried to Gambier Island where we backpacked to Gambier Lake via Mount Killam and Amigos Peak. The trail to Gambier Lake over Mount Killam was 12.5 km. On our return trip to the ferry, we took the 10km Gambier Lake Trail, which bypasses the summit (22.5km overall distance). The entire trip had 1,122m elevation gain, most of which was hiking over Killam and Amigos. Gambier Lake is a great spot to backcountry camp. Not too many other hikers on this trail. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll answer as best I can!
THE STORMAWAY FERRY FROM LANGDALE TO GAMBIER ISLAND IS CASH ONLY ($7.30 AT THE TIME OF FILMING).

I found there were more bear encounters on Burke Mt in Coquitlam than in the N Shore, for myself. Bring a bear sack/canister , keep away from camp and carry bear spray/bangers just in case. I did have a cougar encounter in Lynn Headwaters two weeks ago. I’m also doing this trail mid July too if you’d like to double up for safety.
