The gun debate in England is different. In a zombie apocalypse, most of the survivors will NOT have guns, because there are very few actual guns in England. That immediately leads to two scenarios - firstly you can survive without one against most street level problems, but secondly any group with access to weapons at the time of the crisis (soldiers, some private security, a few police, organised crime, farmers - I think that's everyone) will be dominant. Ammo would be a huge issue for everyone except the farmers. I only just tried to think this through so I might have missed some conclusions.

im Australian so my experience is completely different. My grandfather was state champion for pistol shooting, so i grew up around guns but they were for sport nothing else because it isn't needed. We also have quite strict gun laws so I don't have to worry about some nutjob on the corner shooting me or my kid.
