Have you ever seen the movie Mississippi Burning? I tried to watch it as a kid a few times, but I couldn't get past a scene where the KKK burn down a black church and a young black child falls down and a Kkk member kicks him in the face. I was horrified because even though it was a movie, I knew that these things happened and that reality was very difficult to reconcile with. I finally sat through the movie as an adult, and it was still difficult to watch. Wouldn't matter who was hurting who. Anybody hurting someone for no reason is just not something I can understand or relate to.
Bill Burr was friends with Patrice O’Neal!! They were very similar in their way of jokes. Always thought Bill was angry BUT HE’s FUNNY!!! I ❤️ him now!! From DC!!💙💙💙💙
I am a 55 year old, half indigenous person of the Sioux Tribe. Not Native Americans. Ancestors were here long before it was called America! But, what makes Bil Burr so funny, is that he can makes jokes about anyone, family, race...without being derogatory, or insensitive. He comes at you with his own truth.
I am a 71 year old, white, Jewish woman and I just subscribed because I love your attitude, Rich. I've been a Bill Burr fan for many years because of his raw honesty, and I can see you share my appreciation of that. Honestly, I think the reason it's funny is because we all recognize how hilariously fucked up we are as a human culture. As far as guilt goes, my husband says that guilt is that feeling you get right before you do it again. I try to stay out of that - I want to live in full forgiveness for all those who have maliciously hurt others that don't look like them, those who have hurt others through neglect or unconsciousness, and forgiveness for myself for all the times I didn't know better and have regretfully hurt others. The human condition can be a nightmare, but I'm committed to learn how to be part of the solution by looking at each human in front of me and seeing my own Self. I cling to the truth of Maya Angelou's words, "when you know better, you do better".
Thankfully his wife approved of the jokes neither one of them believed... Bill Burr was funny when he had everyone convinced that he actually believed what he was saying.
USED to be. Not anymore. The second he got involved in his current relationship and he went ‘super-woke’ his comedy died! I didn’t even finish watching his last 2 specials! Such a huge disappointment. There was NOTHING even remotely funny about any of his new material. Smh
1987 i was 7 and i bumped my face on my bmx bike trying to wheelie. My lip shredded. Blood everywhere..Didnt even see it or feel it because some big black guys laughed at me. I saw them turning white. I was like why they look so scared? Then i noticed my shirt was wet...from all the blood...the 3 black guys picked me up and ran to my house and knocked the door... The point here is we all human and help each other These guys even returned my bike later...such heroes!
62 year old white woman. I feel sorrow when I think about the horrific history of slavery and the genocide of Native Americans. I don't feel guilt, but I feel empathy for people who did not (and do not) deserve to be mistreated by people who look like me. As you said, those who think they are supposed to feel guilt, are afraid of looking at their own negative feelings and mindset. Racism is a huge part of our history and there are still insidious ways it impacts our culture. Don't worry about whether or not you should feel white guilt, just remove your own barriers to treating all people with the respect they deserve. Then, just be kind to people.
No guilt here but I absolutely empathize for all ethnicities that have been and still are enslaved. I'm lucky I grew up in the Bay Area, it's a gumbo pot of cultures here and there hasn't been a single one that hasn't invite me into their home to break bread at one point or another in my life. I'm so thankful I grew up that way. My parents were considered "cool" by my friends (even though they were square as all hell!) b/c my mom would always cook for them and my dad would wrestle/roughhouse/ joke around. I guess it felt like a second home to them. I really like where your minds at and I enjoyed this video. You got a new sub, bro. Keep it going!
Another great reaction video!! Great job! I'm with you, if we could get rid of ignorance and closed minds, life would get immeasurably better for everyone!!
I have zero white guilt. My family immigrated from Italy in the early 1900’s and slavery was never part of anyone’s life. I judge people for what they do, not the color of their skin. Excellent video. Love Bill Burr.
So brother I am a 65 year old white man. Everything in my life I've earned. I've been working since I was 14 years old and I've taken care of everyone around me since I was 19. Like many people I've often worked more than one job. I don't think of myself as a white man. I think of myself as Charles Wells, the individual and I give the respect to others in direct proportion to the respect they afford me as individuals. I think most people in the black community have such a strong sense of identity with other black people that it stifles their individuality because they often feel compelled to think like their brothers and sisters. The victimhood bug has infected this nation and unnecessarily divided it and the only ones who prospers from our division is the elite political class. Down here at the bottom we're all just trying to survive and derive some happiness and contentment in this crazy thing called life. I loved Morgan Freeman's take when was being interviewed by Don Lemon when he said we get rid of racism by not talking about it all the time. Even true racists which by the way comes in all shades of colors, are way too busy trying to get along in life to worry about someone else. You can't legislate love as Denzel Washington once said. And finally you can't get rid of racism. It is a human condition that has pervaded all of human history since the beginning of time. I support the right to think as you wish even if it is wrong or ignorant, as long as you leave others alone in their quest and journey. Your rights end where mine begin and visa versa. Prejudice is simply people making generalizations about other groups of people that may or not be generally true in an attempt to make sense of the world around them. And the only way you dispel destructive generalizations is to talk to all people. Everyone can teach you something even if it's sometimes how not to be. I don't generally subscribe to channels, but I did enjoy your reaction to Bill and hit the subscribe button.
Okay, I was hoping for more than a heart. I like discussions. If you're going to make commentary on social issues and people take the time to give a lengthy reply, it would be helpful to know how you believe and perhaps learned since you've had your channel and heard from people how they feel.
Love your reactions, dude. Seen at least 10 now and this is my first comment. Grew up in England and 38, so don't really have any racism in me at all since I barely experienced being around other "groups", and I just share love. No negative energy in me, and that's why I like you. You spread a positive message. Keep it up! Hope your channel goes viral soon. Much love
White Welsh boy here. I love Bill as he's married to a black girl, and you know he's immersed in the culture. I've been lucky enough to fill many passports and have been around a bit. Engaged to a black Brazilian girl and am now married to a Cambodian, so I can say with confidence it's been a great experience. When people think they know a culture because they went on holiday somewhere, I just look through them. You've got to get to know people, and that doesn't happen in a 2-week holiday. But there's so much ignorant s**t going on it boggles my mind. My advice is to be very careful when listening to your own media; it's all loaded left or right; figure it out for yourself, Luv and peace, good channel mate. New subscriber.
Human. I love your attitude, brother. I’m here with you and I’m 63 year old white dude from Canada liven in North Carolina. North Carolina is now a trip to live in.
zero white guilt here. i didn't own slaves, you were never a slave. as far as i'm concerned, you and i have a clean slate with each other and both deserve the same amount of respect as fellow human beings. neither of us are responsible for the actions of the people that came before us, so why carry that hurt and anger forever?
No Guilt? REALLY? Come on man even though your words are true that neither of us has experienced that. The fact is that your Ancestral lineage treated people that way just for the way they looked. I might be different but if I saw Roots and it was the other way… I would feel guilt. Find your empathy brother.
@@hkaufusi42 was waiting for this comment.. i'm irish dude. my ancestors were getting fucked over by the british well over 500 years before the colonies and slavery was even a thing. and fyi, we didn't have a great time when we finally started coming to america either. so maybe don't make assumptions of my ancestral history based solely on the color of MY skin, kay?

I don't feel guilty for others' ignorance. I just speak up when I can . I have always loved the black culture around me. The great music and wonderful humor, the incredible courage they expressed during the movement.
Bro I feel like you are bringing us back together my man, we all gotta laugh at ourselves, keep it up… I don’t feel evil, grew up in Fresno Cali and I was the minority as a white kid 🤙🏻
I’m 66 years old and have been ‘educated by life. I joined the US Air Force as a lily white kid from a lily white family and neighborhood. My first roommate for 4 years was a black kid from downtown Detroit. Mic drop! We embraced each other’s music, food, culture… I miss that man… and playing Backgammon standing up like a scene from Over The Top! Hahaha
bills hilarious. ive seen him live and hes even better. he has a way of talking about race that everyone can relate to which makes him a dam good comic
More sympathy or empathy than guilt. I am 30 years old and I played college football a lot of my brothers who I went to battle with everyday who I trusted with my life and they knew I had their back were my black brothers! I will always be empathetic to their ancestors struggles that my ancestors caused! History sucks but I do everything to love people and respect those who respect me. I think we all need to move forward but not forget our history so we don’t repeat it! I get what my ancestors did but if we swap roles which is what I feel like is happening we are progressing we are repeating and that gets us nowhere! We are all one family the human race family and I would love to be able to come together and start going after the government who only want to divide us! We are stronger together than divided! I love your channel and hope open conversation gains popularity so we can become one! God bless and keep doing what you’re doing!
I remember my uncle, who grew up in the 30's and fought in Korea would use slurs. The N word for African/Americans and the Cnk word for Asians of all sorts. What I found interesting about it though was that he never used it as a real insult. When he talked about Asians, he always said that everyone thought they were stupid during the war...he made sure we understood that they were anything but. He had admiration for them. I never saw him talkl down to anyone. He loved all his Asian nurses, people who took care of my aunt, etc. He would tell us stories about some black guys he used to work with in the factory who were the hardest workers he had ever worked with. He would have a couple shots with them once in a while. He lived a few blocks from Wrigley Field, on Melrose. He took them to the first game Jackie Robinson played there. They had to sit in a different section, but they went and had drinks and talked about it later. It seemed to be just a word that he used. Until you sat down and listened to his stories and saw his pictures and read some of the letters, you would think he was a racist. Friom what I can see though, is that the word has gone through many iterations. Forgive me here...from N****r to N***o- to Black to African/American. Some use/used it in a derogatory sense, some it was just a word. The closer we get to modern times however, those older words become more and more deragatory. I may and probably will get some pushback here, but I thought my uncle was racist for the longest time. Until we started doing the history of our family. We sat down and talked about it. We started with Jackie, and it went from there. I was shocked.
I grew up in northern utah in the 80s. There wasn’t much people that I encountered that were not white. I just didn’t get the chance to meet many until I moved to the east in the 90s. That’s when I met many people from all over the world. I can say I enjoyed meeting them and becoming friends with them.
You're not watching the right comedians then haha Andrew schulz is one of the best when it comes to that shit, he just knows about alot of different cultures so he let's them all have it haha
You do realise what your Spanish ancestors did to the Mayan and Inca right? Well let's ask them...oh wait we can't because they were completely wiped out.
I day dream about people like Bill Burr would run for president. Because common sense should still exist. And he's an authentic, realistic, decent man. Love Bill...
When I joined the Air Force in 1979, I never knew a black person. I was…. Lily white. My first assignment was Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. I was thrown into a Dorm situation where my roommate was a black man from downtown Detroit. It was uncomfortable to say the least, until we shared music. When he played Fantastic Voyage on the stereo I was hooked. I say this because you are 100% correct. There is a latent prejudice in all of us, and it is from ignorance. “Hey come on, come along, take a ride, there’s a party over there that ain’t no jive.” Jodie, luv you man! You are missed!
I’m white British and my step father from the age of 4 is black American from north California. I’ve heard and seen so much racism from both sides of the pond and all races during my life. My step grandfather is from the West indies and came over as part of the windrush generation, he was a part of my life from the day I was born. People are just people. An a hole is an ahole. It doesn’t pick a colour or race. If that make sense? Good vid 👍
Old white head from Pittsburgh. Went to city schools and the burbs. I heard the things Black kids said when they thought I couldn't hear them. I fought them from 1st grade on. I heard what White kids said about me when they thought I couldn't hear them. I fought them from 5th grade on. It's all the same. I've had too many Black folks I call family. We're ALL ignorant sometimes. As you said, it's experience and how you're raised. Comedy and music is a place where we should all come together. Being offended is for the weak and/or stupid. This was good and, to answer your question- I love Bill because it's brutal comedic honesty. White Evil is Bill being funny. I don't feel White Evil. I'm Irish, Italian, German, Swedish and Finnish... that I know of. Who knows? I could be African, Asian, Hispanic, whatever. Who cares? I do feel proud of my genes, though. Who doesn't? That doesn't mean I wanna go burn crosses. If anything, it makes me relate to as many people as I can because I think that's what we should all be doing because our things that are common amongst us all, outweigh our differences. THAT is why Bill Burr is funny. He has no fear to make us laugh about things we've been constantly told can't be funny. Nice job on this. I laughed even harder than when I watched the original with no reaction 😂
Richmond Cali growing up,playing football, I was known as a hitter , our quarterback and out inside linebacker was white also , we were treated with respect, we treated our team as brothers , there’s no color barrier, team sports is the way.
I spent a majority of my life here in miami going to predominantly black schools (Maybe like 2-3 other white people across grade levels) and nobody around me really used it against me whether we had to watch a movie about slavery or during black history month so I never felt any guilt
I'm 73 year old white guy. I have no guilt about slavery. My ancestors were in Italy and eastern Europe when that happened. Even if they were here, I was raised to respect everyone and I have. I don't judge people I don't know and I am doing my best to help people get along.
Yup, mine came from Sweden and had their own farm they worked on. When my great great grandma went into labor she would raise a white sheet so my grandfather knew. It was only the two of them working the farm together
I think the concept of “white guilt” is literally only the people who know they have some sort of racial bias or even out right racism….. people who don’t have have those proclivities have no such reaction…. Bill is making a joke of this of course
Roots was a fake story that had no backing ing facts except about the whole being enslaved here in America. Every nation had and allowed slaves, the term comes from the “Slav”s or people from Easter Europe. My wife’s earliest trace able descendants were Irish that were sold to colonists here in America. White people didn’t want anything to do with going into Africa, they rolled up in their ships and bought their slaves from black kingdoms and got the heck out of there. I’d check out some of Thomas Sowells books. He is one of the most travelled, historians. I love his take on economics and geography
@@vicegrips188 no says anything about white people inventing slavery or anything like…. The white guilt idea is specific to U.S.A. Culturally as in our country it was white people who perpetuated slavery (and even wrote it into our original constitution) Brining up the fact that “other people did it too” is a childish argument and completely irrelevant
We have nepotism, cronyism, tribalism, classism, feminism...all evidence that we favor or act differently towards those who are more like us in some way. It is deeply engrained in our DNA as a way to survive against the potential threat of 'others' or those who are 'outside' the groups we most closely identify with. Racism is often a convenient pejorative label slapped upon someone who may just be acting on an instinctive level without any actual malice. Of course whenever there is malice we can condemn this behavior, but we should not automatically assume that malice is there.
I’m white, don’t think we are any more evil than anyone else, I see the world and evil shit happens every day I love your reactions!! I think we are all racist. Knowing that and realizing it’s wrong is the first step to becoming a better person I try to accept all people on an individual basis. The older I get , the more open minded I get
I'm 65 years old and I do not feel guilt over anything my ancestors did. My ancestors left their farms/businesses in Connecticut and went south to die in a war freeing black people from slavery. So, I'm proud of my ancestors if anything. Good reaction. Thanks for sharing.
then you don't understand what it means. The life you have exists because of slavery, it would be very different otherwise, england would be a lot poorer. You don't have to be directly involved to benefit
Greetings from Bali, Indonesia. Thanks for your reaction and your question. Regardless of race, no one is guilty of their ancestors’ sins any more than they deserve credit for their ancestors’ achievements. We are born and die as individuals and are only responsible for our own behaviour. We should not fear punishment by an angry God (let alone some angry woke mob) FOR our sins. We are punished BY our sins, according to the Law of Karma.
29 year old white guy from England here 👋 I don't feel any kinda white guilt, i couldn't feel guilty for something I've never done. and I never have tbh. Maybe it's different for white Americans because there seems to be much more of a racial divide there. Of course there's racism and all that bs everywhere but it seems more emphasised over there
30 white guy from US …lol. Zero sense of “white guilt” or “white evil”. Same reasoning as you, I don’t feel guilt for something I didn’t do. Also, attaching “white” to guilt and evil is in my opinion is nasty to do. If you change it to black or brown or anything else, you hear how ridiculous and messed up that sounds…. Bottom line is some people do bad things, some people do good things, and whatever your combo of good/bad decisions in life, it has to everything to do with character and mentality and sometimes culture, but nothing to do with race or other immutable characteristics. Those are my thoughts.
I mean, "you guys" were literally the first to legally ban it... AND! Once the colonies revolted, you guys didn't send your full naval force over... You left enough behind to still patrol the African coasts to catch slavers and liberate slaves
In the US, white people have it pounded into our heads that we bare some personal responsibility for the evils of the past. I think more white people used to buy into it than do today. I've got too much shit to do to worry about taking on responsibility for things that had nothing to do with me
Bro I appreciate you being vulnerable and saying that you believed a way because of your environment, I was the same exact way. Thank you for opening your mind and trying to understand other train of thoughts. That’s why Burr is a goat.
I’m Irish, we were colonised by the British for hundreds of years. The atrocities carried out in Ireland were among the worst ever recorded in human history including a halving of the population over a 15 year span in the mid 1800’s. I personally don’t feel white guilt. I hope we can all learn and move on and never repeat the mistakes of the used.
But the Irish bombed children and tried to romantice it by it being saying they're in a struggle. Bombs in bins full of nails in a High Street on a Saturday afternoon is not romantic. And many of the people who did that in Ireland hundreds of years ago were Irish. Just because they had lots of money and had big houses and owned farms doesn't make them English. They'd been in Ireland hundreds of years. And what is Ireland anyway? It was a country invaded by Vikings who killed and raped the original inhabitants so you are descendants of Vikings. And the people they killed? The original Britons who had to escape west from the Saxons who invaded from northern Europe. That is why gaelic is spoken in the western coasts of England, Cornwall, Wales and Ireland. I'm afriaid civiilsations move. Europe has been invaded by North Africans and Asian people in the last 40 years or so and in the next 100 years or so, everyone will have mixed race genetics. Just look at the US in a few hundred years. Just about everyone has mixed race or at least lots of DNA from many countries.
Mr Burr will stop you in your tracks with his frank in your face comedy, he speaks the truth, love him, love his politics, love his wife, the brains in this duo.... 😂😂😂
There is a perception that "white evil" exists, which can be attributed to the history of European colonialism and expansion. It is important to note that Europeans were not the only colonizers, as every race has participated in expansionism or militarism at some point in history. However, what sets Europeans apart is their "success" in colonizing. For a considerable amount of time, the British Empire, France, Portugal, Spain, Germany, and other European nations controlled around 85% of the world. Unfortunately, becoming the most successful colonizer comes with a lot of shady history. While it is true that modern humans had no involvement in the atrocities of history, it is crucial to learn and understand history. One should not feel guilty for something they did not do, but being ignorant of history is not an option either. Sometimes, people try to deny or downplay unsettling historical truths to make it seem less heinous, but it is essential to acknowledge them. Education is key to understanding the past. All that being said, this is a great bit by Bill Burr, and I am glad that you got to experience more of his comedic genius!
Allthough I understand where the expression comes from I don't feel that kind of guilt myself. But I can SO understand where it comes from. I used to not tolerate Bill Burr, but I think I just didn't understand him before. I think he's brilliant.
37 from St.Louis. I do have some white guilt. There have been a multitude of situations in my life that I look back on and can't help but ask myself, "Did I get this job because I was white and not because I'm qualified?" "Did this cop give me a warning because I'm white?" Back to the question, I know at least half of my family is racist. From that, I shutter to think what my great greats did during their years on Earth. I can say confidently that ever since I was a little kid, I have always had people's best interest in mind, and I have always had my friends / family of different ethnicities' backs. I grew up in a very diverse area. From a young age, I was taught by my friend's parents what the world was like. When I was a child growing up TV was a relatively new media and news programs showed me horrific things being done to black people who just wanted to go to school, or vote, or be treated fairly. I saw police set dogs on them, beat them, folks line up to scream and spit at little black girls trying to go to school. For the first time in history, racism wasn’t just words in a small story on page 6 of a newspaper, about something that seemed only theoretical. You SAW injustice, in your living room. I never felt ‘white guilt”. It was shame.

Great take on this video, thanks. Short story, I was prejudice in grade school and through H.S. growing up in a predominately white burb. The blacks that I encountered through those years were bullies, so naturally in my mind all blacks were bad. Enter trade school where I met entirely different black men and women, changed my whole perspective. Now I look at individual conduct and not as a whole. And, ignorance is not stupidity. Ignorance is not knowing something, stupidity is knowing and being blind to it. Bless you Mr. Richhouse.
Hey, Rich. First-time viewer, glad to find you! As a life-long musician, I recognize the blessing of finding common ground to build relationships. Sadly, the world seems intent on celebrating and exploiting our differences instead of rejoicing in the things that bring us together. I find great value in what Bill Burr does in terms of exposing racism and prejudice for the small-minded and petty foolishness that they are. Hate is a learned behavior and I do not believe that old dogs cannot learn new tricks. Peace and love, Pastor Jim.

This is my personal favorite special from him
62 year old white woman.
They were killing each other long before people that look like you were there.

Bill is still ranked in the top 3 comedians on every list you look up.
Your laugh is Infectious young man. 👍👍👍
Much love
"if you're offended, please explain why so we can laugh at you" 🤣
White Welsh boy here. New subscriber.

zero white guilt here. i didn't own slaves, you were never a slave. as far as i'm concerned, you and i have a clean slate with each other and both deserve the same amount of respect as fellow human beings. neither of us are responsible for the actions of the people that came before us, so why carry that hurt and anger forever?
No Guilt? REALLY? Come on man even though your words are true that neither of us has experienced that. The fact is that your Ancestral lineage treated people that way just for the way they looked.
I might be different but if I saw Roots and it was the other way… I would feel guilt. Find your empathy brother.

Culturally as in our country it was white people who perpetuated slavery (and even wrote it into our original constitution)
Brining up the fact that “other people did it too” is a childish argument and completely irrelevant
America didn't invent slavery, it was adopted from European nations, we was just the last to outlaw it...recently

If I hear the German language, or I hear Viking music...I get fired up, it's in the DNA

The reason bill burr is my fave comic is his delivery..His anger lowkey reminds me of me😆🤣
We have nepotism, cronyism, tribalism, classism, feminism...all evidence that we favor or act differently towards those who are more like us in some way.
Cause, he's hilarious! Plus, very realistic!💜💙💜💙

I have no white guilt . I am English & my ancestor’s never were involved in keeping slaves , they were poor coal miners . Some were farmers .
then you don't understand what it means.

29 year old white guy from England here 👋
I don't feel any kinda white guilt, i couldn't feel guilty for something I've never done. and I never have tbh.
I'm responing to the question posed by richhouse at 8:25

Hey, Rich. First-time viewer, glad to find you! As a life-long musician, I recognize the blessing of finding common ground to build relationships. Sadly, the world seems intent on celebrating and exploiting our differences instead of rejoicing in the things that bring us together.
