The fact that Rob is still this good at his age is incredible. This was one of the first bands that I latched onto when I was in my early teens(in the 70's)...and I still listen to them ...really epic band and great reaction.
you picked a great version of this song. just loved your face when it got hard and you knew it was coming. always enjoy your reactions and have a great day!!!!!
Joan Baez was one of the most influential folk singers of the 1960's and beyond. Her songs of protest against the Vietnam war, injustice and government oppression inspired millions of young people. "Diamonds and Rust" is Baez's story of her past relationship with the legendary Bob Dylan and how a phone call from him ten years after they broke up reminded her of their time together. Well I'll be damned Here comes your ghost again But that's not unusual It's just that the moon is full And you happened to call And here I sit Hand on the telephone Hearing a voice I'd known A couple of light years ago Heading straight for a fall
Try out "Blood Red Skies" from the same concert; a metal masterpiece combining story telling and vocal dexterity and accompanied by musicians at their very best.
When I saw Judas Priest way back in the day, during the encore, the band started playing "Hell Bent For Leather". Rob Halford came on stage riding a Harley....along with a topless girl, who promptly waved to the crowd and ran off stage. Those were the days.....😁
Had a similar for Jethro Tull. The under wraps tour. The whole first song, there were a few piles of paper around stage and at one point 3 topless ladies burst out of them, ran around stage for a bit then exited. Was my first concert and thought, what have I been missing?!!
*Perhaps people are recommending those higher pitched songs for their "shock value." But there are many Priest songs not like Painkiller. And I hope you try more...maybe: The Green Manalishi __ Victim of Changes __ The Hellion/Electric Eye __ Fever.*
When I was 16 - and these guys were young - I saw this song in concert. My guitar teacher had told me that I had no hope as a player, well 3 years later I was playing this song in bars and still love it. Good lights I think I will get the nebulae!

if you want to see a good Priest classic where Rob stays in his chest, check _You Got Another Thing Coming_ or _Breaking the Law_ . Rob staying up in his falseto constantly really became more common later as the band progressed ; so if you want to hear his normal voice, older stuff (i.e., pre-Painkiller) is where it's at (he does still do some in the older stuff , just not as much)
Hi cutie always have loved this group since beginning Rob Halford in 70's still sounds great invincible shield 2024 album trial by fire many great songs on it check it out
Judas Priest new album is call Invincible Shield. It came out last March. Yes, They are on tour. They started April off in Switzerland and Italy. Working there way in Europe by June. Great Reaction
Second that! You know what's crazy is that I was in high school when kids were coming back from their concerts wearing Defenders of the Faith t-shirts, and I totally slept on it. And I was even into metal! Loved Ozzy and Dio and Iron Maiden. But I thought of JP as just hard rock, since all I saw on MTV was 'Breaking the Law' type songs. It wasn't until I was in my 50s that I started listening to them. Now they are my favorite metal band.
I think the first time I saw Priest was in '82. Might've been '83, but definitely during that period. Seen them a few times since and they're always great. Also, congrats on the sponsor and well done on the presentation.
love me some early PRIEST - THE RIPPER is great and off of the same album SIN AFTER SIN that features DIAMONDS both SINNER and DISSIDENT AGGRESSOR stand up really well over the decades
I wonder if they knew that this song was about Bob dylan when they first recorded it, if not it would have been quite the coincidence because they actually got the name Judas priest from a Bob Dylan song.
I freaking LOVE Judas Priest! 🤘 Other songs you should listen to (unless you've already heard them): Breaking the Law. Hellbent for Leather. Painkiller. Living after Midnight. Hellion - Electric Eye. The Sentinel. Turbo Lover. Locked In. March of the Damned. Leather Rebel. Hellrider. Before the Dawn (great rock ballad!). Judas is Rising. Nightcrawler. Hard as Iron. Better than you Better than me. United.
Not sure anyone has said it yet but this is a song about the failed relationship between Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. And it’s worth a deep dive if you’re interested.
Alright, let's go: firstly, I must say that you look magnificent as always and red looks good on you, talking about the song I like it, although honestly I prefer her original version, but overall it was a good show from her and your reaction is always magnificent Madalina (Bisscute), if I could recommend a song I would recommend the song Self Control by Laura Braingan, it's a song from the 80s and I think you'll like it, that's it, keep up the work is doing and Brazilian greetings to you! 💚 💛 💚 💛
So, just for context, Joan Baez, who did the original, is a legendary singer songwriter that was a folk singer in the 60s that was a big part of the counter culture movement then, that sang songs that criticized and protested societal problems. She was basically like the queen of the hippies, and was very influential at that time and place. If you remember in "Forrest Gump", Jenny was saying that she wanted to be like Joan Baez. I think it's probably fair to say that she was like the female version of early Bob Dylan from that era, and in fact, they were long time close friends, and I think may have had a romance at some point. I personally know more of her, but don't really know her music all that well. It is funny though, because you would not imagine that Judas Priest would cover Joan Baez.
That song was a lot of fun, and I was thinking it was going to be a straight cover like Disturbed doing 'Sound of Silence' but I loved the more hardcore ending. Great review as always!
The high notes are kinda the singer's thing; I remember the singer did a song with the Japanese act Babymetal, and in his 60s he was hitting notes higher than a trio of Japanese teenage girls. If you'd like to see him do a song in a lower range, Rob Halford featured on a song by the band In This Moment (which are really cool and have a lot of songs with really catchy pop hooks in them) called Black Wedding, and I'd really recommend it. Great reaction, as always!
You should definitely react to the original by Joan Baez, a folk ballad from the 70's. It's a song about her relationship with Bob Dylan. And the album version from Judas Priest completely and utterly blows this out of the water.
Try their new album. Any song will do, it’s amazing stuff! Especially seeing a few of them, including the singer, ate in their 70’s now! Personal favorite at the moment…Gates Of Hell. 👍
Love seeing your metal reactions especially the heavier stuff. Would love seeing you react to Silent Planet. Recommend the songs Antimatter and Collider.
У нас в России не купить такого астронавта, к сожаленью, милая... / We can’t buy such an astronaut here in Russia, unfortunately, my dear... P.S. And finally listen to the old hits of Uriah Heep, I ask you?!
This is a cool, sort of unplugged version. But nothing compared to the version on their live album 'Unleashed in the East' from 1979. Probably the best live metal album ever made. Unfortunately there is no video, but the sound quality is great. If you want to hear some really good melodic Judas Priest songs, check out Before the Dawn or Dreamer/Deceiver.
Now you really made me cry.......... Rob Halford is from another planet. Only metal guys like Robert can bring such dispair and pain in their voice. Love it! (although not the best version of this song by JP).
Happens To Us All.. Ask IAN GILLAN ,GLENN HUGHES OR DAVID COVERDALE... ( PAUL RODGERS ROBERT PLANT ,ALSO ,Of Course.. Father Time Is Undefeated!! Actually it is somewhat wrong image of Judas Priest as of band with consistent high notes. These songs are popular because they are unusual and impressive, but most other songs are very different and diverse. Halford voice is much lower baritone indeed and his speaking voice proofs that. The band has A LOT of songs with low and middle voice, harsh and aggressive and smooth and romantic. Rob Halford's voice is so flexible and unique that he can perform very different genres. To experience that other side of Rob Halford voice I recommend next songs: Run of the Mill, Cheater, Dreamer Deceiver (masterpiece!), Island of Domination, Last Rose of Summer, Here Come the Tears, Epitaph, Before the Dawn, Some Heads are Gonna Roll, Out in the Cold, Turbo Lover, Monster of Rock, Eat me Alive, A Touch of Evil, Rapid Fire, The Rage, Death, Angel, Alone, Worth Fighting For, Halls of Valhalla, Secrets of the Dead, Beginning of the End, Sea of Red, and from Rob's solo band called Fight are songs A Little Crazy, In a World of My Own Making, For All Eternity, and from Rob's solo band called 2wo (or Two) is the song Bed of Rust, and from Rob's solo band called Halford are songs She, The Sun, In The Morning. There's a LOT more to research. And by the way imho the best live performance of Diamonds and Rust is at the Slavi Show (you can find it here on YT). Cheers!

Judas Priest’s best version is on the 1979 live album “Unleashed In The East”
