    That was Wonderful!
    Really Great Man.
    It’s totally appreciated & more than rather refreshing to hear you speak on the quality of aesthetics as well as the symbiotic beneficial aspects of what these plants do for us in return for something as simple as paying a bit more attention to detail & actually giving a damn. Rather satisfying.
    Not to mention also enlighteningly informative as per their growth habit when actually
    trimmed/pruned/manicured, & overall cleaned up a bit…
    🫡 MaD Respect to you Sir!
    🥂-Cheers

    I like the look of a Sago Palm with a huge crown of leaves. I think they lack luster when you cut so many leaves off

    I just trimmed an overgrown sago.Then I read you're not supposed to cut the green palms, but how else are you supposed to trim and shape it? It looks much better trimmed.

    I have heard that if you want the trunk to move you leave some leaves on the side. But I can't remember which ones to prune. Like if you want it to turn left do leave the leaves on the right? Or visa- versa.

    I have 3 very large Sago Palms, one of the Palms is tall and wide whereby
    blocking a view of my front door creating a safety hazard. How do you properly control the growth of a Sago Palm.

    Nice job. Do yours ever get white scale and if so how do you treat it?

    • @milllumine2246
      @milllumine2246 7 років тому +1

      I've read coffee grounds help. I tried them out and it didn't seem to do much, but my dad works for a company and he sprayed my plants with some systemic stuff from Bayer that doesn't harm the plant, but kills scale. If you go to a nursery and tell them you need to get rid of scale on a cycad, they should be able to help.

    • @garyK.45ACP
      @garyK.45ACP 6 років тому +1

      Yes...treat with Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed. It is a systemic insecticide you pour around the plant. For an active infestation...apply the Tree and Shrub product, the plant absorbs the treatment through the roots and it kills the insects when they suck the plant juices. Then spray the leaves with Neem Oil once a week for three weeks. Then spray off the dead scale with a high pressure garden hose nozzle. Treat with Bayer Advanced at least one time per year. I do it in September and April.

    Kinda crazy
    So I just got done doing my wife’s grandmothers house yard.
    So I start pruning her sego and I do the front half of it. So this lady comes out yelling at me cause she said I don’t know how to prune her sego. I’m a 33 year old person that has done plenty of yards in my time. Came across this video. I have to go show her. So she knows that I do know what I’m doing. This Sego is exactly like Hers same size. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ poor sago only front half got done 😏

      They are fine if they freeze. Just cut off the fronds that turn brown in the spring.

    I accidentally trimmed the branches (by 1ft) when my wife usually prunes the whole branch from the stem. Now the branches are not growing back & looks like they’re dying. This plant is an outdoor planter in our dry dirt with sunlight but shaded all day. I live in Southern California where’s its hot & dry. HOW DO REVIVE THIS PLANT AND GET BACK BROWNIE POINTS FROM MY WIFE 😂 ~ Help!!!

    I was told that Sago Palms are poisonous. Is this true? Can you get poisoned by pruning it or does it mean internal, by eating a part of it??

    You did way too much. I grew up around those plants in the tropics and if anything, you're overstressing it by cutting off the lush green leaves/fronds. Just let it be. It will be even more beautiful in its own natural pace of growth.

      Gary Cooper, I agree with you, I have 8 or ten, I'll have to go outside and count them one day, Sago Palm, Have had them for Years.. They are all different ages and sizes. One has even Become a Mother. HAhaha, Yes, She has developed that Beautiful Golden Crown of "HAIR which means she is a FEMALE and is Producing SEEDS which if this man, Mr. Richard Daigle, would have realized he should have began collecting once the Plant had OPENED its SEED POD and BEFORE she BEGAN Producing MORE FRONDS AMONG HER BEAUTIFUL Mass of Golden Hair ! Hahahahaah, I know I sound like a Nut Job... Trust me, I am Not, But I do know a Few things about SAGOS... I have been raising them for more than 40 years !!!
