I just discovered this beautiful movie. Obviously, it is fantasy, so there will be continuity challenges, but something that could have been avoided was how he wrote the numbers on the map at 0:25. No halfway decent architect would write like that (style-less and inconsistent). And now that I think about it, chances are VERY high that he would not have written in cursive. He definitely would have printed, almost certainly in all caps. No worries… this was otherwise a really heartwarming movie.

Good catch! :) I was sort of thinking the same thing in the back of my mind when I first saw it; but I agree, it's not a big enough detail to spoil the movie. It's always puzzled me how surveyors, architects, etc. can print so uniformly as to make labels on blueprints (for example) look as though they'd been typeset.

These secular, romantic comedies ALWAYS idolize romance over marital commitment and go completely out of their way to ignore God's will to have a personal relationship with us.

I completely get what you're saying; and I agree. but I still like the movie. :)
Morgan would not have been a better choice for Kate in this context. Morgan and Kate were sharing an apartment together outside the marital commitment; which was definitely outside of God's will. If the man had any spiritual or moral integrity, they wouldn't have been sharing a bedroom.
If you noticed during his time in the hospital, Simon-Alex's father, played by Christopher Plummer-described the foundational importance of the different types of light present in famous world cities and its harmonization with architecture (being "captivated by the light... Always the light. Always."). Although the movie's producers didn't likely intend this, to discerning viewers it can easily serve as a metaphor for Christ being the Light of our lives (John 3:19-21). That is, just as architectural designs show their true beauty only in the right type of light, similarly are we utterly dependent on the love and light of Christ to redeem and bring us to our full potential in God. Not to mention that the portrayed relationship between Alex and Kate emphasizes personal sacrifice and genuine affection, along with the value and importance of being patient in matters of the heart.
So despite its imperfections, there are redeeming qualities to the movie. PluggedIn.com, a Christian entertainment review website rated it 3 out of 5 stars - www.pluggedin.com/movie-reviews/lakehouse/ There are much, *Much* worse movies out there, especially from that same genre ( _P.S. I Love You_ , for instance).

Greg LaPrade for an romance movie, this is actually a pretty good one. I mean, Kate and Alex were in love and their only way of contacting each other was through letters. This means that they actually talked and connected. They were more intimate than those couples in movies who are sharing a bed by the second date. Kate and Alex had no way of doing that but it didn’t stop them from loving each other. Alex had to wait four years to actually be with Kate while most men can’t wait three months for the, erm, physical activity to start. Think about it, the part where Alex was tempted to meet Kate at the valley plaza was an analogy for the temptation that many men who are dating face. If he did it, he would die. Instead, he waited. And when they finally did meet, they simply kissed and went home. It’s my head canon that they got married right after that, since they already knew each other so well. Also, maybe you haven’t seen the movie before, so just to clarify: in this scene, they’re not actually admitting they’re married. Kate has been single for two years and Alex is also single. And if you have seen the movie and are worried about Morgan, just know, Kate and Morgan weren’t married. And bringing Alex back May have somehow erased Kate and Morgan’s relationship. Anyway, Morgan was never a great boyfriend to Kate. He didn’t really seem to care towards the end. That’s my super long reply! Hope it was helpful lol

Well that comment went theological quickly. But I disagree: I think that the romantic-comedy as a genre is a direct descendent of religious notions of marital commitment. Keep in mind that all of Shakespeare's comedies (which are always romantic comedies) end with marriage. The entire drama of a romantic comedy is misunderstanding, action, reconciliation, and resolution via marriage. To your point, however, a "secularistic" romantic comedy does not end in marriage but hints at it, while a truly "secular" romantic comedy would not end in marriage, and would hint away from it. So, given that this film does not end in marriage but does hint at it, I'd rate it secularistic, while a romantic comedy like "Her," which totally excludes the possibility of marriage would be secular in your sense.

It was God's will for them to be together.
That's only something you understand when you understand spiritual marriage.
It's something that is guided together against all odd and through space and time.
So this movie actually is more about God than your idea of what God is.
God is love and it transcends us through space and time and everyone we meet is a puzzle piece that brings us closer to the big picture.
Gonna have to get new wineskins for new wine...if you try to wrap your head around new concepts with an old mind...it'll literally blow your mind which is why God guides us into growth with Him, from death to death to death.
I'm waiting for the man that was promised to me just like they were promised together by forces unseen.
The veil is what separates them so they have to find a different way to love eachother which is a higher love than what most people experience.
They have to exsude a lot of faith believing that what they are experiencing is even possible.
I believe it because I am experiencing it right now 😆
In love with a ghost I haven't met yet.
But something tells me we'll be together soon on the physical as we are already connected in the spiritual and that is a connection only God makes and a connection no man can sever.
      ❤️
