wow thank you so much for this video. My baby monster just got its third leaf exactly like this one you recorded. It just started unfurling the leaf and I was curious to know what would happen next. Then voila! Here it is! Now I know what to expect and I am very excited.
My daughter bought me a cutting of this a year ago with just 2 small solid leaves. It took quite a long time to settle in and make roots. First new leaf it grew was also solid. Then one day there was a 4th leaf with splits. (It had out grown it's pot by then so bigger pot and sunnier window followed.) I was sure leaf splits must happen after they grow and stretch out at the edges. NOPE. Watched the next 3 unfurl like your slow motion video. :) I don't seem to notice until about Day 7!
wow...amazing. I bought the plant 3 weeks back and have a new leaf sprouting, now I know what to expect :) Unfortunately my new leaf has a black tip, any advice on why that would be happening. All other leaves are fine.
Hey there! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I haven’t had this problem before myself, but a black tip is an indicator of necrosis, or dying plant tissue. I did a quick google search and it appears it could be caused by a range of factors, such as overwatering or nutrient deficiencies. If you haven’t repotted your new plant yet, make sure you use a good quality potting soil that drains well but also retains enough moisture. Don’t let the roots sit in water for too long, and give your monstera lots of bright indirect sun 😌
@@horticultureme5538 thanks for replying. I have not repotted. I was planning to keep it in the store bought pot since its 12 inch and the plant doesn’t look root bound. I use moisture meter to water appropriately. I haven’t fertilized it since i bought it other than watering with fish emissions once. I keep it a foot away from south facing window. I saw another new sprout today will keep an eye on it to check for any black tips.
I thought I was seeing things but the leaves do change position depending on where the light comes from. Mine is turning all of its leaves towards the same direction and I've been trying to re-position them by rotating its pot lately
@@horticultureme5538 Yup, they somehow manage to move several inches a day! Very noticeable with anthuriums as well, I'm having a hard time getting their leaves to look evenly positioned because as one turns to the right spot, the other ones are turning to face wrong directions😆
very cool time lapse but with the way you edited your comments in to be there for like half a second it was so tedious and time consuming to always go back and pause just to be able to read them.
I rescued a sick monstera from a box store. I had to prune back hard as all leaves were crispy. I pruned back to a new leaf 'flap'. ?How long b4 new leaves begin to appear please? Thanks xx
Depends on lots of things! It will grow faster if the weather is warm and there is lots of light. But don’t get disheartened if it takes months. I pruned one back 9 months ago, and it’s only shooting a new leaf now 🌿
Hey, i got a monstera deliciosa from a friend and im propagating it rn. Sadly the new leaf is getting brown/black. Any ideas of why its happening? Its really sad since its my first time dealing with something like that and i dont want her to die
Oh no! How big is the new leaf? To try and save the plant I would cut off the black parts a couple of centimetres into healthy tissue. Then I would treat the leaf with a systemic fungicide/bactericide to try and kill any pathogens inside the plant. Is the new soil very wet or dry? If neither of those is the problem then I think there must be some fungal or bacteria issue
@@horticultureme5538 hey uhmm. Its i think fixed. Since i was propagating it, it concentrated its energy to its roots and well the new leaf died. I now put it in a brighter spot and new roots are already coming
@kızgın tosbağa the plant is currently healthy and even has fenestrations. The problem was that the plant didnt have much roots to support the new growth so the new leaf died.
I'm watching one aboutvthe same size as you plant. The first leaf i think must be at about day 9, and the second perhaps a day or two behind. Plants are so time consuming
Hey i bought this plant nearly 3 weeks ago. I cant see any new leaf coming out of it. What shall i do.. to fasten up the growth i have added up the moss stik and gardening soil as well and my leaves are not thicker as yours.. cn you please tell what shall i do..
My monster came to me looking very sad and I had to wait a while before it grew a new leaf. I would say as long as your plant is in a sunny spot, has good soil and water then maybe it’s just settling in and needs some time to adapt before sending out a new leaf 🌿
Depends on the season! If you're in the cool season, leaf growth can be a slow process. If your plant is otherwise healthy, just make sure it has enough sun and is warm and hopefully a new leaf will follow soon.
Hmm maybe there is something wrong with the plant either nutritionally or disease related. Check the roots for disease, consider a repotting, and keep the plant in a warm, sunny spot with high humidity. Hope it comes right!
Hello nice video umm I have one but it's a cutting I've had it for a few years now, n it was doing great for a while when it just wasn't growing right so I propagated it , n gave 1/2 of it away to a friend, then when it had enough roots, I put it bk in a pot , it was doing good for a while but the last leaf came out it didn't fully developed so it is still like that . 🙁🤔 so what went wrong I didn't know what to do any advice people 🤦🏾♀️
When you say it isn't fully developed what does it look like? If you mean the holes (fenestrations), they could only appear when bigger leaves emerge. Because it's from a cutting I would just give it some more time, especially if the leaves and roots are still healthy. Good luck!
I watched the video in 2x speed and it was still slow xD Just saying. Maybe for future videos you might want to speed it up more. Thanks for the content anyway
I never occurred to me how much this plant moves during a single day
I was also intrigued when I saw 🫢

Ohh so exciting!! Hope there are lots more baby leaves in your monsters future 🌿
I love this the 3rd leaf on my baby Monstera is starting to unfold
Thank you, and that’s so exciting! 🤩
What a beautiful video. 🌿🌿.
Ah thank you!
This was a really cool video so thank you for making it 🥰

I just adopted 2 babes in a pot…wish me luck. 🍀 🍃🌱

Oui, vous avez raison. Merci! (I hope google translated that correctly) 🌿
That plant is breathing 😳
Never thought of it like that before 😍

That was my way of trying to boost the watch time of the video, seems it had the opposite effect though 😅 Thanks for the feedback!

🤩🤩🤩
I can see there’s no much sunlight, it usually doesn’t takes this long
Fair enough! It felt even longer having to keep the recording going for that long 😅
Howlong did it take the new leaf to become more still andess shiny like the other leaves?
Hmm… it started to blend in after a few weeks if I recall

How frequently do you see new leaf growth? I saw only 1 new leaf in past 8 months.

mine unfurled 3 weeks ago but it still looks lifeless. please advise -.-

@@horticultureme5538 :) yeah time lapses are so cool but it was a tiny bit slow

This is a Borsigiana not a Deliciousa
Thanks for the heads up!
