I lived in Dublin during most of the 70’s and got to see Clannad a lot. I also saw all the great bands of the time. It was a golden age of Irish music, The Chieftains, Planxty, The Bothy Band, De Danaan. It was so wonderful.
@@adrianabustamante2860 It truly was. The "next generation" played with them.Moya's kids, Aisling Jarvis & Paul Jarvis. I was honored to be there, in the first row of the balcony. A magical evening.
Sempre fui apaixonado pelo trabalho da Enya, e não conhecia Clannad. Graças a esses vídeos agora também me apaixonei por eles !!!!! Sou Marcelo - Brasil
Joder, me encanta el grupo y nunca los había visto tocar en directo. Suenan IGUAL que en disco, lo cual dice mucho de su calidad como músicos. Por cierto, vaya pintas... la de la época, imagino. Y la cantante tiene cara de loca 😂
What a treat! Never seen this one before. My favorite period, the transition from Crann Ull to Fuaim, before their big breakthrough. Love this so much! Thanks for the upload.
@@garycollins6710 Hello GC...Im not sure what you meant by your comment, but nevertheless, it's all personal preference. For me, the magic of Enya is not her voice, but her uncanny ability to come up with such beautiful melodies! All of my Enya favorites are instrumentals ... Moya shines with her voice rather than song writing or playing. It is unbelievable they come from the same family
I noticed that, too. Enya has a softer voice and a slower tempo than her sister. Moya's singing is more energetic and folksy as well, and it comes through in her lyrics. 😎👍
This is the Clannad I admire from the 70's. I saw them the first time live in the 90's at Vredenburg Utrecht NL concert hall. Unfortunately, by then, they were influenced by Bono and U2 and played at a sound level which was painful to the ears and totally unnecessary because the concert hall was designed to accommodate classical orchestra's without electrical amplification.

Enya actually left at that time as she wanted a solo career during 82 fuaim tour. She did contribute a bit along with her clann in the first 5. An tUll was the first she was credited

@@cp0tyr It was a fun time but there were bad things too. I was in Dublin in 74 when the bombs went off. That was horrible.
Sounds like a great time!!!

Moya Brennan is an angel
I came across Clannad's music in 1992, those arrangements and harmonies still give me goosebumps.
This music invokes the very soul of Ireland.
A truly special group
A great set from that 'transition' period. I can't believe it was forty years ago now!
I can believe it was forty years ago: the guys all had hair!
What a privilege -- *thank* *you!*
Beautiful music!
So happy I got to see them on their final tour to the US. Beautiful show.

Appreciate the upload, my favorite of theirs is Banba but I love listening to their old tunes as well, cheers.

I dare anyone - ANYONE - to keep a dry eye when they perform it.
The song that she sings at 5.30 approx is the same as a song that Martin Carthy recorded as High Germany, with a different set of words.

Chris Meehan on keyboards.
Thanks, I was wondering.
I will probably get a lot of hate mail, but Moya has such a stronger voice than Enya when she did this song.
Moya is 10 years older than Enya Moya is about 30 at the time of this concert

You can tell that the one guitar player is Enya’s and Moya’s brother.

An tÚll

Enya sings the lead on that song on one of their albums.
