Every time I hear this now I'm all of a sudden back in a P-3 Orion heading from Rota to Sig in '89, this blaring over the engines on a Walkman. I can scarcely recall breakfast yesterday, but this will be with me forever.
Miracolo musicale familiare, questi Clannad.!!
I think this is their most commercial sounding song, it could have been a much bigger hit. I think Macalla was when they perfected the mix of traditional and pop/rock music.
Two awesome songs--especially the second one, Almost Seems Too Late. Beautiful video--thank you so much for all the work you do to share material like this with all of us!!
'Enya' is a lesson to any reasonable singer, or any musician, to be brave and get it on record or film, work to progress and refine your art. From a humble shy looking 'choirgirl' in a family group that moved towards more commercial productions of still traditional Gaelic style, to lush universally appealing music selling multi millions of albums!
"When someone just stands you". Why does it not sound like "When someone astounds you" like it is supposed to? Or is she saying "When someones astounds you"? Is this an Irish way of saying it
@Steven Griffin...10 YRS HAVE PASSED SINCE YOU MADE YOUR STUPID COMMENT PRETENDING TO BE MOYA'S SON AND 9 GULLIBLE PEOPLE HAVE THUMBED YOU UP.., MOYA'S KIDS ARE PAUL & AISHLING JARVIS ...I HOPE YOU'VE GROWN UP BY NOW YOU STUPID TROLL.
As rufus566 said, it was very common to mime back then. Playing live was quite tricky on live tv. Too many things to go wrong. Although I think the producers could have made an effort and at least had leads plugged into the guitars. As a musician myself it used to wind me up big time. But it was not the bands fault, they just had to roll with it.
@@ShadowCamera definitely not denying that! This was the first Clannad song I ever heard. I walked into a bookstore and they were playing Past Perfect. I loved the song and bought the tape, and the rest is history. I got to see them in concert in 2012, when the were here in the US. They were marvelous!

Miming a singularly beautiful song, but radiates niceness, care and love. Well done

I have seen many many bands in my lifetime but seeing Clannad in 89 is in my top 5, they were amazing & filled my Irish heart with joy
I think this is a forgotten song ,one of their best in my humble opinion ,great musicians & Moyà is simply incredible 😊😊😊

I'm not Irish but I love and I hope fully understand Clannad's music.
Never thought of Clannad as a rock band!...
Though the ballads are even better, like Banba and Lore.
what a family the Brennans ... O' Braonans !
Most programs back then required that bands do playback, or at least instrumental playback. Its not Clannad's fault, that was the way it was done.
Still done like this in the majority of tv
Very Gary Moore vibe to the solo ..
Just a beautiful composition ( as usual )

A bit strange to see the Duggan brothers playing electric guitars.
Love
Always thought this song sounded similar to 'if you love somebody set them free' by Sting. Funnily enough they're both from 1985 too!
Love the band - hate miming to the tracks for which i blame auntie - the bbc - live is best period.
Like Jefferson Starship
Who stole Moya Brennan and put that 80's babe in her place??? This video is great fun.

I only hear "when someone discounds you" and I know that's not a word haha

On top of this amazing performance, the sky and trees outside the windows look lush.
