As far as I'm concerned adventure bikes are the new standards. Good riding position, a little more suspension travel, nice neutral cornering manners.

Congratulations on riding the entire video with your turn signal on!!! LMFAO. Sign of your maturing mind!!! Rally Raid stage 3 conversion kits are available for these bikes that really address most of the issues holding this bike back for true adventure riding. Picking one of these bikes up used and adding the kit offers a very affordable and capable beginner 0ption for around 7k Canadian.

Great review, but most for people looking for an used up to 2018 model. The 2019 has got some great updates that may should be focused a bit more, I don't find the gearshift "clunky" on the 2019, it is perfect. The engine has also got some more torque. The new slipper clutch is super easy to operate, the handlebars is improved a lot too. You mention the new 19 inch front, but it also got longer travel suspension which in sum makes it better off road :-)

Hi Sven, I went riding with a T7 yesterday (I was on my '16 model CB500X) and your comments re size, weight and center of gravity were very apparent when parked side by side and on the gravel sections I was at the same speed 80 to 115 kph). I think your comments on why you went back to the 500 are sound....But I do want a 120/90 aspect on the front and new pegs.

The "exaggerated engine capacity" thing is specific to '500' bikes, nearly all of which are 470cc and 47bhp to make them A2 compliant out of the box. Nobody makes a 500cc/50bhp bike anymore. Sizes are often rounded up (often to reduce the road tax payable on them; in the UK one band starts at 400cc and another at 600, so a 397cc bike is cheaper to own than a 400cc) but this particular quirk is consistent across brands and that's the reason.

The obvious CB for more pavement, DR for more offroad... but having never ridden either not sure which one covers their lesser area better. Lots of grey area but will the CB cross over into the offroad (nothing crazy) better than the DR handles pavement. (reasonable comfort is the concern) Typical day riding 1 to 1.5 hrs out to the fun stuff and then of course the same ride back. See a well farkled DR local that I may go check out.

Everyone would have a different opinion Jeff, but I don't think there's much overlap at all. The water pump drops oil, not coolant, from 560km point. Handelbar wobble from new and the abs disc is touching the fork. In one year and 3500 km, I very close to sell it. I have a 2021 model. I thing Honda is a peace o shit those days. Now the handel bar wobble is worse, and the warranty doesn't give a shit on the customers. Maybe in other places is different, but in my country this is the situation.

Asta nu este o veste bună, Andrei. 🤔 The CB500X is made in Thailand but generally the quality control is very good. The dealer won't fix the bike under warranty? Did you contact the Romanian distributor/head office? Perhaps they might respond?

@@crosstrainingadventurei went to the warranty, they change the gaskets, but the pump still drops oil, and they tell they will solve the wobble isue, but they don't want to realy solve it. Now i'm wayting for a new pump, for over 3 weeks. I call them 4 days ago, they said that they will call me back, and thwy did not. Tomorrow i will go to them and see what I can do. Because today I put some weight in my top case, and the wobble is worse. On my old bike, a gs500e i used to put the same weight and I didn't had any problem.

I wish Honda would make a mix of the CB500X and the NC750X. A real small adventure bike "a halfrica" and good competition for the new Tenere 700. A bike with 19/17 spoked wheels, NC engine and the trunk, 60-70hp and around 200kg. It would be awesome..

Max, the part that has more known issues on the 500X are usually the kits that change out the entire footpeg bracket to a dirt stance - even Rally Raid hasn't cracked that nut quite yet (they don't sell one, but others do). That said, Jenny Morgan of Rally Raid says she very rarely stands except on the most aggressive of dirt when riding her fully-modded 500X, so I might take that approach and not stress the pegs.
