i can’t remember if you have done this or not, but i would love to see a cereal redesign video!
Yes!!!
Fruity pebbles!!
Cheerios
Absolutely. Also, considering the (nearly*) complete lack of female representation in cereal mascots, a mascot reinterpretation could be very cool.
*Are we really gonna let Pebbles hold down the fort? That’s a lot of pressure for a toddler.
@@iankellymorris lmao exactly!
“Not an illustrator” *draws the cutest burger I’ve ever seen*
why does this have no replies?
@@shutupandy6110 It does
IKR lol
That's what I was thinking lol.
@@Sebastian-ok8qs it does because he was the first commenting duh
i personally find the font you chose for taco bell was hard to read but the logo overall was very cute!
Yea legibility is very important. I agree. Legibility and simplicity also plays a major role in how memorable and timeless a logo is. Definitely a fun concept though!
I really like your logo redesigns. But I have the feeling that you often forget that the logo has to work in small sizes. The text in your logos is often so playful or there is so much going on that you can hardly read it. Much of it doesn't work in small e.g. on a ballpoint pen.
Exactly I feel like alot are too complex
It's probably just because she does them for fun!
No one:
Me: *Silently writing every single font she mentions*
It's better than typewolf
Hahaha +1
Who knew you'd have the perfect follow-up video not even a day later!
sameeee
Thomasmeable
I have a really long list of fonts now-
the burger king one would look amazing on a shirt stg
True
Yes lol I need that shirt now
Yh defo it's super retro and has a great illustration
@@FaithlessGhost I need itttt
i’d buy it if she made merch of it
Challenge video idea: redesign some logos without retro/vintage look.
oh damn... good point tho
i cant read what does this say
@@breadandicecream "Challenge video idea: redesign some logos without retro/vintage look.
"
That's all she does though I think
That's what's in, my guy
These designs are okay but don't feel modern. This is all my opinion.
Taco Bell was fine, it just had a weird font.
Burger King had way too much detail (? i guess) to be a logo.
KFC's design was... simple... but too simple. A bit lazy.
She said "vintage" like million times XD
How can you remove the colonel when he was literally the guy that started the brand. And he just recently died in like the past 10 years
I agree what you were saying about the kfc one, but they were good, try doing it yourself...
@@harrisholding U don't need to be the best to criticize others -_-
@@harrisholding that's a weak argument. are you saying i need to make a movie to be a movie critic? no. that's not how it works.
i was today years old when i realized the burger king logo has burger buns in it and it’s not just a yellow circle with words in front of it
ikk
I- didn’t know that I thought it was a circle-
*hol’ up-*
BRO SAME
how
Personally I felt like the Taco Bell logo was even more overly detailed than the original, and the font is kinda hard to read, especially when it’s small. That being said you always do a great job choosing colors!
I didn't mind the bell, but I just really didn't like that font
Didn’t like the font either but once I saw it on the taco mock up. I was like this is definitely playful design.
@@dinnolinno yeah she could have gone with a different font but man that design!!
the new one felt like too much tbh
the colors looked too recognizable, very similar to baskin robins
The problem I have and that I think most of the general public would have too, is about this new edgy wave of design, yeah it's aesthetic and fresh but sometimes is hard to understand and not always easy to use in different objects
Plus fast food logos need to be simple, bold and colourful. This is important because most of them advertise with their logo on giant poles designed to be seen from a few miles away. The first two designs were too detailed to be recognised from a distance and KFC was just too plain to be recognised. It was nice to see as a fun project, but none of them would be accepted as suitable designs for fast food businesses. Maybe for a local independent place.
and it doesn't speak to many people. that design only speaks to a certain demographic. The reason why these brands are big is cause their branding can be consumed by everyone.
Meh, I personally prefer a logo with character rather than a vectorized, modern, sleek design. The Burger King Logo seemed to perfectly capture the essence of a lot of local Burger joints in small town areas. Personally I think the Taco Bell logo would have been fine if the second bolder typeface was chosen. KFC was not the greatest, but it was true to a lot of simple type solutions that local restaurants choose. That being said, I probably wouldve taken it in a different direction.
Hi, responding to this 8 months later. but yes, you're totally right. She shouldn't approach this in what she thinks is cool but from a perspective about what every single consumer would like. At least in graphic design, she isn't thinking right. She could be doing great in being an illustrator, fashion designer or a photographer. These are industries where you can really be stubborn and develop your own personal style.
ah, yes, my favorite fast food chain, Taco Belsls
Nice pfp, one of my favorite bands! :)
@@djunaskye6220 ty!
side note, i really miss taco bell's old interior design. i remember that american southwest 80s geometric pastel design scheme so well haha. those were the days
Me too. And I miss the bright magenta and dark indigo vibe they had going on. (The old logo)
y’all must be old af damn
@@tripleaaa4409 im 16 and i remember it too. its not that old lol
My TBell hasn’t been updated since then. It’s a little gross but you could always come check it out for nostalgia 🤣
Keith N lol I’ve heard some have never been renovated. That would be a cool theme to plan a road trip around “unrenovated fast food places and Targets”
this was awesome! i loved the burger king one in particular. also thank you for all the illustrator tips + tutorials. i really appreciate those extra little tidbits of ur process, keyboard commands etc
didn't expect you here :)
It's weird when you're not sure about one of the logos, then you see it once you've contextualised it and put it on to packaging and things and suddenly you really like the look of it.
she has talent for packaging but her logos are just an extra tool to fit an aesthetic, good for a youtuber doing videos for funsies but not for an actual brand
The title "vintage redesign of popular fast food logos" would be more accurate.
exactly
Facts i was expecting something more modern...
this
Well, that is her style... Plus, vintage is in. 😎
the title only said "redesign" - which didn't imply updating or modernizing the logos, at least to me. She designed them how she wanted, often with a vintage Americana vibe that feels v trendy ^. There is nothing inaccurate about her title, it's just not specific to her style while redesigning.
you should redesign popular band logos :) ( like metallica, nirvana, kiss, guns n’ roses)
Or modern music artists that don’t have logos 👀
the vibrant machine none of those really have logos either, it’s just album covers
Redesigning album covers would also be cool 👀
In A Nutshell All of those definitely have a logo.
London Lutt legit never heard of those besides guns n roses
Since u have synesthesia, you should design some music/ album art for songs. Like Lady Gaga Chromatica, or other new or personal favorite releases. I think it would be cool to see how your brain works in that way.
that’d be so cool
Omg that would be so cool
PastelWorld ur right that would b soo coool
Yasss Chromatica. I really like the whole album concept and aesthetic
She did one for Owl City’s ‘Ocean Eyes’ a while back. Maybe check that one out.
I LITERALLY LOVED THE TACO BELL AND BURGER KING LOGOS THEY WERE SO PLEASING TO LOOK AT AND YOU REALLY NAILED IT! The KFC redesign was also really cool but it got a bit weirdly patriotic lmao
Clearly she only went for looks here instead of practical use, and I mean it more than just the package.
And, all of this companies are international, and a traditional USA old design does not appeal to all countries for example, that's one of the reasonss most companies migrated from this old design.
The three logos from this video would not resonate in Brazil, India, China, Russia for example, big markets. Because of looks and readability. KFC used only "KFC" internationally because it is easier for foreigners to remember the brand.
well yeah, it's a redesign video
@@aerina444 but a redesign must have its purpose, and she does try to provide a meaningful reason for each of her design. But as of my comment above, these redesign do not apply for other cultures other than the US.
@@aerina444 Hey Bob! How's Amy?
I don’t know if it’s just me or what but the final Taco Bell font was hard for me to read
Yes its difficult to read, all the fonts she selected were difficult to read but I liked the shape...
The font kinda gave the logo and all over chinese restaurant feeling!
right? and the burger king one was way too detailed for a logo. I would never in a million years pick any of them to replace the current ones. The taco bell design is OK but the font is hard to read. She's better at illustration and creating original designs, because the current logos are better than hers right now. I was hoping for something really cool in this video but I'm shocked lol.
Hey i see ure a fan of falling in reverse
@@chandraabudiman yes very big fan lol
Me while looking at the taco bell redesign process: 😐
Me when I see the mockups: 🤯
ok

I personally have difficulty reading the Taco Bell font, especially the L’s. They sorta look like S’s.
they look like my mind in school
I thought they looked like the letter U. Taco BeUU
Every single time I watch one of your rebrand videos, the entire way through I'm like 'Why are you making such terrible choices?' And then by the end, I'm like..."f*ckin' brilliant."
i couldn't stop looking at her earrings lmao
I love her earrings
Same hahaha was trying to figure them out
Now i cant either
They match her big Girl Genius glasses.
same lol they’re so cute
I'm not sure how appealing of a video idea this would be to you or anyone else but I love history of all sorts. I think it would be super fascinating if you did almost like a "lecture" type video on the history of popular brands and their logos and the trends they followed and set throughout time and how they each were a reflection on their eras. Whenever you do these redesigning videos, you always mention specifically the late 90s, early 2000s how a lot of brands changed up their logos and how more recently they've scaled back and weirdly modernized them. I would love to learn more about the trends of branding throughout our time.
that taco shell design with the letters in between the rays... chefs kiss
omg im obsessed with the burger king packaging!! the lil character is so cute! as a marketing major id say the taco bell font is a lil too hard to read but i loooooved the video :)
The Burger King one was my favorite 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I really don't get the burger King love
i really recommend a website called indieground!! most of their stuff is paid (but affordable) but they have tons of useful free stuff including textures and fonts
It would be totally cool if you do an episode for a charity, while you redesign charity logos!
i love how you as a designer can envision what things would look like mocked up. when i look at most of your logos while you're making them, i'm like "nah" but then you mock it up and it looks so good!! i really liked all of these.
That burger is so cute! One day late for national hamburger day 🍔
I'm French and you help me to upgrade my english and I learn a lot in graphism, I love your creativity and your ideas. Moreover you look so kind.
Ne prend pas ton inspi là.. c'est nul ce qu'elle fait..
Honest feedback? you basically poured tons of "Americana" on those logos, without the business understanding or the appeal of the global market. Nice concepts as an experiment, but I can't see how any of those logos or branding will appeal for the global behemoths that those businesses are, and not just to a local market, one store business.
They’re American companies tho. When these are global everyone knows it’s not traditional to their country
@@naturallyeccentric05 Fast food restaurants do serve foods tailored to local tastes though, so they probably want their branding to represent a wider variety of things than their American standards
Because she is doing a fun video on youtube? ;) It's not a serious process when you make 1000 versions of the logo, think about the market, competitors etc.
That's why the video isn't called 'updating the graphic identity of three major fast food corporations to consolidate and grow market share'. Its a fun experiment utilising her styles and favourite aesthetics. Ain't that deep.
The Burger King redesign is super adorable, and is definitely my favorite. I wonder if they never went that direction because it's too Hamburglar-like?
Your videos are just a huge vibe
the vibes are immaculate
Me at the start of the video shouting “SODA!!!!” at the screen
lmaooo same. and when she finally said it was like phew
heres the final redesigns:
14:48 - Taco Bell
29:24 - Burger King
38:10 - KFC
Kel: I want a bright orange
Me: *sees red*
You've inspired me to pursue a graphic design minor!
Really liked the Burger King logo. Not too much a fan of the other two, but overall good job ✌🏻
Same
burger king is the least worst ,i wont say best cause its an overstatement
Nah taco bell was the best imo
Amazing stuff, loved the episode
can I say Kel Lauren's voice is so soothing? I keep on listening to this video while doing work and I actually get to finish my work
when you create your moodboards for these, how do you go about researching, what kind of places do you look and what keywords do you think of using to find stuff x love the videos as always :)
pinterest, Tumblr and vsco are all really good for finding aesthetic and cool images
Behance and Pinterest are good. I would avoid tumblr and vsco... They tend to be kitchsy
You should do cereal logos/boxes!
Yes, please!
i loved the taco bell redesign but i think it wouldn't work as the official logo for the company since the font is kind of puzzling to read, but it looks way more creative and inspiring than the original one 🥺❣️
Did not realize, as much as I do not miss creating ads, how comforting it is to hear you talk about font vibes ✨✨🌟
Thank you for blessing us this Friday with your amazing graphic design
CAN TACO BELL PPPLLLLEEEAAASSSEEE FIND THIS BECAUSE I WANT TO LOOK AT THESE BEAUTIES EVERY TIME I ORDER A TACO.
AGREED !
her voice and these videos are always so chill so i put these on while i draw at night bc it makes me feel like i’m not art-ing alone 😂
You have such a nice voice to listen to! I love watching your videos when I'm actually doing work myself.
This has been by far my favorite video from you. I love fast food, and these logos needed a change. Love the new KFC logo you made, and they should honestly use that.
I kind of love the taco bell design and it works on the packaging I think. I also love the font you used but I really don't think it's suitable for a logo because it's so hard to read. Also close up it looks like a trippy 60's font which, I love that style but it doesn't fit here and from far away it looks like Chinese lettering or something, especially with the yellow and red background. I'm so torn on the design because i really wanna love it :D Oh man, but great video anyways! thank youuu
i love it when you talk to the person next to you (bf maybe? idk im new) cuz it’s like the opposite of breaking the fourth wall lol anyways i absolutely adore you and your work
i just love how quick and yet calm you are working
anthropomorphism & personification!! that was one the subjects of my art projects a few years ago
Please write the font names in the description in these types of videos! It’ll be so helpful for easy access! 💘☺️
I really love these redesign video's, it gives me so much inspiration and motivation as a Multimedia Graphic Design student. Thank you for these, and sharing your tips and tricks and visions!
Yes! Topo Chico's branding deserves a gold medal.
5:00 I got so confused while reading the “Suave Geração” poster, was not expecting to find Portuguese branding in one of your videos 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
brazilian indeed
o melhor idioma 🇧🇷
So many pt-br here! Wasn’t expecting that yay!!
danihell I feel like you were trying to reference the “portuguese 🇧🇷” joke, but brazilian is a nationality buddy. The language is still portuguese 😂
Já somos dois ahahaha
oooohhh the BK logo is popin'!! I love the packaging soooo much!! And she said she ain't an illustrator...please!!
Me: a 40 minute video of someone designing logos? who has the time to watch that?
-me 40 minutes later...
I'm taking Graphics Design in college this fall and I cant wait to learn!!! These videos fascinate me, I love seeing other people"s design process!!
i was literally smelling chips and salsa while she was talking about taco bell
I used to go to the Outer Banks to go to the beach in the summer and there would be a restaurant called Big Al's. Big Al's looked like it was built in the 50s and to this day keeps that retro, diner aesthetic (in which I absolutely love). The restaurant had a small dance floor with an old jukebox and the entirety of Big Al's would be covered with Coca Cola branded products as wall ornaments. They even had a Coca Cola bicycle on the wall! Your redesign of the Burger King logo reminded me of Big Al's.
You have SUCH a Danish vibe! I don't mean only your physical beauty (which looks extremely danish!), the way you speak and what you say (your activism in certain topics) but somehow also your sense of style, taste in clothes, accessories and definitely in design! Do you have any danish roots by any chance? (and I don't mean the commonly known simple, white Scandinavian minimalist vibe, this feels pure danish on so many levels !!)
I feel the Taco Bell one is very difficult to read from a distance...
I felt personally attacked when you described one of the fonts as “too mom blog-y” 😂
I love your process. Great job on the burger illustration and lock up!
watching your videos is literally so soothing
I love your earrings!
the taco bell logo was a stroke of genius...literally so perfect 😍😍
Just found your channel and this is exactly what I've been looking for! You inspire me to try more different things and get out of my comfort zone in graphic designing. Love the designs!
You're so compelling and talented! Your art is incredible and I love that you share the process with us!
Burger King looked great, Taco Bell i prefere the original. KFC needs the coronel.
It ain't KFC if it don't got the colonel
Did anyone else know this video was coming because they saw her Pinterest board for it? Just me? Okay
what's her pinterest ?
What a real fan lol. But yes, what’s her Pinterest?
kris Kelly Lauren
yea at first i didn’t like how many lines were in the rays of the taco bell one but after the finished products i saw that you had changed the lines and it looks way better and not too overwhelming
Kel, I really enjoyed your process. I am new to illustrator and it's good to see how you talked through your ideas. Thank you.
dude you should redesign the sour patch kids packaging design, idk how i feel about it
How dare you remove Kernel Sanders from KFC he’s the hottest man in the world
the way i've learned more about design from ur videos than i have at uni for the last two years is wild
awesome! I love the little Burger King guy with the main font and texture you chose. I especially liked the large "Burger King" on the cup mocked up. The only thing I was iffy on was his little flag, at a glance I kept reading "hhoper". Great redesigns and love your merch work!
There's no branding and nothing really recognizable in the KFC branding. Like it fades in and looks bland.
The taco bell one wasn't even readable and the Burger King one wasnt distinguishable...definitely gave me checkers vibes.
Idk I really enjoyed some of her rebranding but I feel like she only goes for vintage feels that don't fit modern brands.
Is no one gonna talk about how the original Taco Bell logo has a taco as the inside part of the bell
I love allll of these! They really breathe new life into the brands/logos 😊
you’re so chill thanks
"I'm not good at illustrating." *proceeds to make fucking cool burger king character*
I'd also love a sketch to tshirt tutorial!
You have such a unique style and you’re so sure of yourself! I love it!
YESSSSS EXACTLY the entertainment I needed. NEVER get tired of your videos😩
I'd be interested in seeing redesigns of popular streaming sites! Netflix, Prime, Disney+, etc.
Great vid as always! :)
unpopular opinion: the taco bell font was actually really cute
your voice is so calming & i love your videos soo much, they’re perfect for right before i go to bed 💕💕 thank you for such good content :-)
your burger illustration is so good and so cute! idk what you were talking about not being a good illustrator
In an alternate universe, she’s turning the logos she made into the original logos
Well I love the font you used for the Taco Bell logo it has very strong hippie vibes with doesn’t really align with Taco Bell’s branding
That Burger King design is ADORABLE. Honestly that’d be an incredible move if they went more vintage. I think they could totally play with that and make it their own away from McDonalds
OverGlowed 🤷♀️ still looks cute.
I’m obsessed with your channel omg
Dating Apps logo redesign!! Would love to see you reinterpret Tinder and Bumble❤️
