    I'm glad you brought up where people are most likely to be assaulted or killed. I mention it everytime I can: the monsters don't lurk in the shadows, they're your romantic partners, family, friends, coworkers, teachers, etc.
    If you're worried about safety, start with analyzing your home and your workplace and the relationships you form there.

    Thank you for sharing such a positive video. I hope to be travelling and living out of my car soon too. I loved how you were realistic enough to admit there are negative issues and sometimes we have to accept that they go along with the freedom we have. However, on a day to day basis, you have managed to come up with workable alternatives or work arounds that mean you can continue to enjoy the positives. You go girl. Enjoy life to the full.

      Hi there! Thanks so much! And congrats to you about your upcoming journey in your car. Even with the negative things, I've had the experience of a lifetime in the car. And sometimes things are really hard! Like right now, the heat at the height of summer threw me for a loop cause it wasn't this hard for me last year in the summer. But even so, I'm grateful for the lifestyle. Blessings to you on your travels! :-)

    Your video is lots of fun to watch. I do eyelash extensions professionally and we use a device that turns water into a mist. My clients love it and say it's refreshing. This might be better than a spray bottle for keeping you cool without getting you too wet and encouraging mold and using up a lot of water.

    I'm a full-time van lifer, from upstate NY now in Arizona! I purposely bought my 2019 Dodge caravan SXT, specifically for good gas mileage, 28 mpg. and plenty of room for my dog and myself to live in! I give so much props to people that live in a cars! I really don't think I could in that small of a space! In this life, less is better, and simplicity is key! What app do you use for the beautiful places you find?...

    Seeking freedom is not being irresponsible - in fact - it is probably one of the most "responsible" things you can do! We can't all live out of a car - or - even want to - but - when seeking something you want or desire to be in this life - we need to be honest and recognize that, far too often, our largest obstacle is "ourselves". I sincerely believe, that if we would just get out of our own way then the journey and results would be a lot better. Chew up energy on the tasks rather than preventing yourself from doing them!

    • @autumnandchloe
      @autumnandchloe  Рік тому +2

      Thank you Steve, I value what you shared here, words of wisdom indeed. Very powerful to get out of our own way... I often share with folks that I've wanted to live this lifestyle for 21 years before embarking... and the thing that held me back was lacking bravery to do something so "extreme" or "alternative." However, this past year has been the best of my life so far, and I'm grateful everyday I took the plunge. Thank you for your comments! :-)

    • @BoomerBlogging

      @@autumnandchloe - it truly is amazing when you finally realize how difficult "WE" make life's simplest things. We really do sincerely get in our own way. It took me forever to realize that Mark Twain was bang-on when he said "Worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe".

      I agree. I had to get a divorce in order to live the life I wanted, because I could never be myself while being married. I compromised myself and what I wanted out of life so much that I barely recognized myself. It was always about the other person and what they wanted with me. It was not an easy thing to do, but I thought about how I only have this one life. And then I thought am I going to just watch it go by, being a woman in a free country, in a time in history when I can actually have the freedom to do what I want and live my own life, IF I get out of my OWN way? No. No, I am not.
      So, I made hard choices, and I have never been happier in my entire life. I am so grateful to myself and for this opportunity before it's too late, and I feel like I actually HAVE a life now. A life of my own. Even if I only got to have a life of my own for six months and then it was gone, it would still have been SO worth it! Before, I felt as if I had a winning lottery ticket in my hand, that so many women around the world even in this day and age would absolutely love to have, and I was just throwing it away to live someone else's version of life until I die that I could care less about doing. So, it's wonderful to see other women being single and doing their thing and not even afraid to tell everyone about it. Keep on sharing!

    You can place a wet towel over yourself. This will help in very hot weather. Having a fan blow air over you cools you more. A cool washcloth on your neck helps. A neck fan did not cool me. Another way that you can cool off.... I have lots of pillows on my bed - one for my feet. On hot nights (when I didn't have a/c) I would spray my foot pillow with water. It worked really well. If you use a towel instead of a pillow, I would suggest putting a pillowcase on it.

    I camp in my Prius and use a jet boil to heat my water. Brings 2 cups to a boil in 60-90 seconds! I know it would take a few batches for those large thermoses but it would still be way less than 30 minutes. Probably more like 10. They are pricey but fast. Anyhow, I’m in my car - it’s the same car you have randomly -
    I find it so HARD EVERYTHING IS JUST SO HARD FOR ME! I am a 50something year old gay man who’s never camped in my life so I bought stuff to / for camping but I haven’t used any of them.. oy’
    I’ve driven from my old home area in San Diego to Canada and tried to go to new place but I’m lonely and I don’t do well trapped in my head… all I do is get angry at myself and at the person who forced me into this life. I just wanted to reach out to you and say that I’m watching and learning from you and I’m listening to you!
    Thank you so very much for your insight and your yeah all of it I’m really learning a lot…

I found that it took me several months to get into a rhythm and flow of things, and I still change things up often after 10 months to help with ease of life.

    • @dughiggs
      @dughiggs Рік тому +1

      Hi and thank you with all my heart for your support help and most of all your kindness!
      I can’t tell you what much it means to me that a person who I don’t know has take time out of your busy schedule to send me a kind note…
      You asked me what are my challenges as of today.. well one big one is using the bathroom!! You see I’m disabled and it’s a huge issue for me if and let’s say that I go to ask nicely for the key to the bathroom and I know it’s working but the owner of the gas station said it’s out of order and you can’t hold it anymore and ( yeah you have a situation and no where to shower so you have to deal with it) it’s a huge issue and it’s not fun at all,
      Or when I need something and it’s on the bottom of a few bags then everything falls over and out of the bags and you become a Disaster Zone and everything is unorganized all over again m.
      I’m having trouble letting go of my clothes and shoes because they are all I have left of a once very nice life until I let that happen into my life and he destroyed everything and everyone that I had. So I know I would have more room in here if I got rid of those things it’s just very hard for me to let go!
      I’m struggling with this thought of I can live in my car - nope I can’t I I need to find a place to live… living like this isn’t less expensive than being in an apartment and people think I have it made because I don’t have rent to pay … but living in the San Diego area is very expensive regardless.. also I don’t have a rue teen down and I’ve been in my car since the end of September.., O’ one last thing is being messed with in the middle of the night by strange people looking in your car and you’re trying to sleep or they will hit slap or yell at you and to your car to scare me and I have major trauma from what that person has done to me. So I get major anxiety and panic attacks
      Well thank you for letting me say all that I hop to see another note from you again soon…
      Take care and be safe
      Douglas

      @@dughiggs Hi Dug, I hear you on all of these things. When I am in California, I find myself feeling anger about the lack of public bathroom access - it seems uncivilized. I've felt this way for a long time... long before I became a nomad. And, I too found it to be challenging to find order and organization... I pretty much live like an extreme minimalist, and I've found that even living with so little, in such a tiny space, the car can feel cluttered.
      Your situation sounds like it came about from a big loss. That is hard, I am sorry for your loss. I've spent several months in and out of CA as a nomad, and I'll be honest, it's not a place I plan to spend time unless I have a pet/house sitting gig. The state is not friendly to the nomadic lifestyle and everything is extremely expensive. The one and only time I've been concerned about a safety issue was in California. The natural beauty is wonderful, but I've found the ease of life to be lacking. Are you able to set up a homebase in a different location?

    • @rachelrichards837
      @rachelrichards837 Рік тому +1

      @@autumnandchloe Sorry it is so challenging for you, Dug. I sincerely hope things get better!
      I was wondering about CA not being great for nomads - is this because the weather in San Diego is so perfect, that everyone who is homeless would want to live there to avoid freezing or burning up, so they are just frustrated with too many car dwellers? I don't know...I have never been there in my life. But I would like to go to the parks in CA for sure.
      Just guessing they may be less friendly if there were a lot more people because of the weather. I mean, you don't hear as much about people in cold weather states being super frustrated with all the nomads like you do in southern climates. Just because people are homeless, doesn't mean they are stupid. They are going to hang out where it's warm, and this can make it challenging for those cities as they have more than their share of people to try and provide services for. Especially of those services are already expensive. Just a thought.

    I learned this while living in a very old rickety moble home ( temporarily) on a very hot summer with no air conditioning. Soak a towel put it over yourself across your shoulders over your head depending on your need . Sitting in the shade or a breeze or in front of a fan; will keep you cool . Infacy be carefull you may get cold . The drawback in this method while traveling is you will use more water.
    How do you bathe?

      @autumnandchloe  Рік тому +2

      Thank you Maggie, this sounds like a great idea that I will try out once it's hot again. For bathing, most of the time I shower at the gym. I also shower in camp grounds (even if I don't stay in them, many allow me to use the showers for a small fee), truck stops, and friends and family's houses if I'm visiting. Sometimes I'll go many days without a shower and use a river, lake, at wet wipes during these situations. :-)

    Hi autumn and Chloe Billy here enjoying another one of your videos. I haven’t done much camping by Flagstaff I mostly go to the rim anyway I have one of those pop-up privacy tents and your video showed me how to fold and get it back in the bag THANK YOU :)
    By the way, have you checked out the lava tube by Flagstaff it’s on my list of things to do when I head that way, it says to bring at least three types of light in case you get a failure. The average temperature in there year around is I believe 35° maybe you can make a video of that

    P.S. ...I apologize, I meant to add these few references: Ezekiel 14:1-23; 18:1-32; 21:1-22:31; and 33:1-33 ( Col. 1:28; Romans 1:1-16:27; I Corinthians 1:1-16:24; II Corinthians 1:1-13:14; and all 150 Psalms are PERFECT PRAYERS! 25 chapters each day is a good minimum to PRAY! ...on day #7 than READ: Proverbs 1:1-31:31; the next day Ecclesiastes 1:1-13:14. And than REPEAT. Takes about 1 hour and a half hours each day. King James Bible ONLY! ( not listening to "an app," but reading aloud with your own voice. That is IF you want to have God's Word IN your heart: John 14:6; Deu. 11:18-32 ). ...Sadly, most could careless. They don't have "a clue," what joy, honor, and grace their MISSING! ( Ephesians 1:1-6:24; Colossians 1:1-4:18; Philippians 1:1-4:18; and Hebrews 1:1-13:25; I John 1:1-5:21 ) ...But, if all 8 billion persons on the earth in one accord rejected "the love of Christ my Lord," I'd stand alone by God's grace ( I Cor. 15:1-58; Zechariah 1:1-14:20; Malachi 1:1-4:6 ) ...but thankfully our future is WRITTEN: Revelation 1:1-22:21; Daniel 1:1-12:13; Matt. 24:1-25:46 ...So, I have hope ( in the Lord ) that many other will be saved, and come into the knowledge of THE TRUTH ( I Peter 1:1 - 3:18 ) ...Amen.

    Hi there young lady. After watching this first video of yours, I wanting to express my thank ( to the Lord God of Israel, who raised Jesus Christ from the dead: I Cor. 15:1-58; Phil. 3:1-21; Acts 3:18-26 / K.J.V. ONLY ) for your wonderful parents who raised a wonderful daughter ( Deu. 11:18-32; Eph. 6:1-3 ) ...And having READ God's holy written Word for 43 years, since age 21, I could say alot: but, I will give a few scriptural references concerning SAFETY, because, it the Lord himself ( the Almighty: Rev. 1:1-22:21 ) ALONE who can protect his people who truly love ( John 14:21-23 ), fear ( Psalm 89:7; Isa. 66:1-2; Job 28:28; Prov. 1:1-33; 8:1-36 ), and obey him ( Exodus 15:26; Prov. 4:18-27; Matt. 4:4; Acts 24:14; I Tim. 4:13-16; Psalm 1:1-6; 19:1-14; 119:1-176 ). ...Also: I found your video, as I soon to move into my newly purchased 1996 Toyota RAV4, that also needs some repair work, but runs fairly well. As a working poor man, renting a room ( $730 a month ), with bed bugs ( among other things ), I'm ready to simplify again. From Nov. 2006 - Oct. 2019 ( before renting a room ), I lived outside ( homeless Preacher: Zephaniah 1:1-3:20 ) without a vehicle; so this will be "a breeze," as it were. And, having watch several video on the subject of "Nomadic/ Car Living," your articulate sensible speeches, and clear details, etc., I've enjoyed the most. You also, in this video mentioned the word "BLESSED," twice: ...So I immediately remember: Psalm 1:1-6; 106:3; Rev. 1:3; Isa. 26:1-4; Phil. 4:6-9; ...and many like scriptures. ...the Lord said to me in a dream: May 2011 ( San Francisco CA ) ..."they have it ( God's Word ) in their hand, but it's not in their heart." ...Sadly, and SHAMEFULLY ( on their part ) that pertains to ALL the workers of INIQUITY: Ezekiel 2:1-3:27; 13:1-23; Matt. 7:13-15, 21-23, 26-27; 15:7-14; 23:1-39; Jer. 5:1-31; 6:13-14; 8:10-11; 23:1-2, 9-27,30-40; Isa. 1:1-3:26; 19:1-23; 30:1-3; 33:14; 56:9-12; I Tim. 6:3-10; I John 2:15-17; James 4:4; Rom. 16:17-18; II John 9-11; I Cor. 14:34-37; Zech. 5:1-11; Rev. 2:2, 9b, 20-24; 3:14-19; 9:20-21; and 17:1-18:24; 21:8; 22:15; 22:18-19, and many like scriptures ( Luke 6:20-23; II Peter 2:1-22; II Cor. 11:3-4, 13-15; Matt. 6:23-24; Prov. 28:22 ) ...Well thanks for reading my "comments." ...Prov. 28:4-7; Ecc. 9:13-18; Luke 6:24-26; II Tim. 2:24-26; 4:16-18, because most entirely ignore such WORDS. And rather SELL their "Christian Books, or Gospel Music," to become RICH, or increase their RICHES ( I Tim. 6:3-10; Dan. 11:14; Luke 14:11; ...vs: Matt. 10:8; I Cor. 9:18; II Cor. 11:7; Prov. 23:23; Isa. 55:1-9, 10; Rev. 22:17 ) ...But who pays ATTENTION to the details of God's holy written Word, in THESE LAST DAYS? ...Matt. 24:1-25:46; Daniel 1:1-12:13; Revelation 1:1-22:21 ...Amen.
