I have the Sigma Pro. I’m a coin collector and stacker. The two most interesting fakes I have found are not what you would expect. One was a 1/20 oz Libertad (gold plated tungsten) and a small ancient gold coin that was too pure (9999 fine) so not genuine.

Out of curiosity, what year was the fake Libertad?

@@MichaelRighi I don’t remember its date it was a good while ago, I bought it mail order from Ireland and returned it for a full refund.

Thank you for an extensive process with the machine. It gives us more knowledge and awareness how to use it properly and to practice good practices.
    This video was very helpful.
    Thank you.

Would like to see the fakes cut in half to see cross section.

How are you able to get a reliable resistivity reading through the thick vinyl sleeves and hard plastic case?

For the 2 sliver maples, I thought that you have to have the reading of the fake (in this case) to get a accurate size, you used the good maple size reading that were calculated to measure the fake one. Does this work if you were doing bulk readings (same type of coins) but like 20 other maple 1oz coins to see if they match the original good one?

The texture in the leaf on that fake Maple looks off. I’ve been pretty confident in my ability to detect a fake maple from sight alone, but this will soon be put to the test when my Sigma arrives and I test my collection. Feeling a little nervous after watching this video. 😅

I don't understand what you are doing with the size test. It is never explained what is being done with the green line, etc.

Any idea about wait times for your Pro product? I notice that it's out of stock on your website as I type this. Is there any way to register for email updates to get notified once they become available?

Could you explain why the shown numbers for diameter and thickness are way off? My unit shows pretty much the same numbers as yours, but thickness and diameter as shown on the LCD are off compared to the correct specs for a Krugerrand and Maple Leaf. The LCD shows around 2mm in diameter and 0.2mm in thickness difference compared to the real dimensions of the coin. Check for yourself in your video compared to the published and caliper measured numbers.

You can run the Thickness Calibration (see manual). The device normally shows slightly smaller thicknesses (see manual) than mint specifications, as it measures at the face, not at the rim. The density test performed by the PMV PRO is correct.

21:53 The Silver Bar shows the Blue Arrows in the middle of the Yellow. Is that an indicator that it could be counterfeit? Should they be in the Green Zone? What do the numbers to the right of the Blue Arrows indicate?

Sigma Pro shows 999 silver per design in the yellow. Sigma made the PRO device like that on purpose, he explained it in this video.

Question about sizing. When entering the weight, do we enter the weight of the actual piece or do we enter the weight the piece is supposed to be (if there is a descrepancy in those numbers)?

    • @cschaka1
      @cschaka1 4 місяці тому +1

You're supposed to weigh the piece first and enter its exact weight. Not was it says on it.

The fake silver Maple Leaf could be a Pb-Sn alloy (lead-tin). The fake gold Maple Leaf would be Wolfram (Tungsten), my guess.

Can you test 10oz bars without bridge on the pro? Thanks

  • @TheBinaryHappiness

so why not make the device board wide enough to take bars?

Hello, we chose the make the External Bridge separate from the main device because not every customer needs to measure large bars. The external bridge is quite large and requires some specialized parts, so by separating the unit and the attachment, customers can opt to include it if they need it, but aren't required to get it if they will not be testing large bars.

Unfortunately you did not have one that tested with the arrow in the green but the arrow's color is red. And only on the top not on the bottom.

Don't forget to calculate the density AND test with ultrasound too ! The electric conductivity test alone is not conclusive !
