Do I NEED a Precious Metals Verifier?

  • In this video I talk about the sigma metalytics precious metals verifiers and who should own one of these machines. Not everyone needs to own a precious metals verifier. The PMV Original or the sigma metalytics original model is able to test your gold and silver coins to determine if they are real or fake. The PMV Pro or the sigma metalytics pro model has the ability to test all the way through samples and preform a specific gravity test. The Sigma Pro Model can also connect to an external bridge to test large gold or silver bars. The Sigma Metalytics Pro Mini model is portable and connect to a phone, tablet, or computer. The sigma pro mini is also able to preform specific gravity tests and it can test through samples as well. I like the sigma metalytics original model because of the price. I like the sigmal metalytics pro model for the versatility and all of the options, and I like the sigma metalytics pro mini for the options and the portablility. PMV stands for precious metals verifier. If you want to purchase a sigma metalytics gold and silver tester then please use the link below for a discount.

      I bet that firearms business is not in the UK.
      IF it were, when the SHTF, I would be queuing up outside hoping that you could assist me, without involving a bank (which would probably be shut and offline anyway).
      You couldn't begin to imagine the relentless pressure we endure in the UK, constricting our human rights for self defence.
      The default position is a crime number, with the establishment expectation that you are insured for any losses.
      Paradoxically, I would hate to pull a trigger only to be subjected to an inquisition and probable jail time, that could involved being sodomised.
      Being shafted one way or another for protecting our person or possessions is not a happy outcome.

    I'm a newbie to this stacking of precious metals. I love your videos and i don't have a lot of money so I'm getting my stack on in a slow process. I have a question. I ran into a pond shop and they had some quarters that were minted in 1999 and they were very silver looking so I didn't know what was the deal with these quarters. The man who owns the store was on vacation so the man behind the counter didn't know much himself about it but they had a spectrometer. It was a very high percentage of nickel but it also had 2.24% gold in it. And they were States Coins. Are these collectible or do they have any value?

    I have a few metals with no idea what they are. Most must be zinc, lead and tin but I need to distinguish them before using them. Can anyone suggest an inexpensive way to do that? There is also a collection of zinc scrap that might have high content in silver and copper in it. A tip for that one could help too!

    I was sold a fake Morgan by a legit coin shop. When I brought it back, he immediately noticed, as I did, that it pinged like base metal. His sigma machine insisted it was a legit Morgan.
    Anecdotal and sample of one, but as it was my first Morgan and I just started stacking, the experience left an impression.
    He exchanged the false coin, and refunded me the difference in numismatic value, in case you care.

    What does the regular one not do that the pro/pro-mini can do?

    • @subaction
      @subaction 2 роки тому +4

      The regular one measures 0.4mm into the sample on the main sensor and even less on the probes. The pros measure all the way through on the main sensor. The regular one can't do small coins like 1/10 or 1/4 oz gold on the main sensor and requires the probes. The pros handle any size on the main sensor. The regular one's strongest probe, for bars, measures up to 1.5mm into the sample. The strongest probe for the pro measures all the way through a bar up to 45mm thick. The pros have wifi for computer connectivity. The pros act as calipers, telling you the thickness of the sample, which, combined with the weight if you input it, lets the device tell you what the other dimensions should measure.

    Acquiring one of these is currently on my agenda, with a preference for a non invasnive model.
    However, ive since learned that no machine, even the most expensive XRF machines are foolproof.
    Im leaning towards a Kee £400 German model, that requires a 18ct gold sampler to calibrate it, it uses a 'pen' that has a salt solution in the nib, if the top is not replaced the nib will dry out and a replaceement is about another 12% additional cost.
    From a review of 10 different models tested/reviewed the German made Kee model came out top.

    If you the viewer reading this dont aleady know the "ring test", it is pretty reliable for minted coins since there are millions of others to compare to in most cases. Take 2 morgan dollars, balance one on each pointer finger, and gently clang the edges together. Gently, not hard. A high pitch ping is the silver sound that youre looking for. If one coin sounds totally different than the other, that coin needs to be further investigated. This is not reliable for random lumps of silver that you do not know the weight and size of. The ring test is essentially a measure of density to determine if your coin is made of the metal you expect it to be. Everyone wants to use the chemical tests that change color on the surface but i would suggest not using these chemical tests on any coin that is collectible because it will leave a visible mark, even if you only use a tiny dot.
    Just my opinion, hope it helps. So far in my silver journey i have not bought any coins that were counterfeit to look real, and when you find a reliable seller, thats good news because chances are that person will consistently be selling real not fake metals. Best of luck to you all out there

    Took my half oz gold is art medal to a coin shop. First they didn’t recognize it as gold and their sigma machine showed it as not gold!!!! All other stats such as size, weight, ping test didn’t convince them it was real. I’ve personally seen it tested with a XRF scan, density test, and above all it came from APMEX!! Their faith was not shaken in their sigma. I asked them if they would test one of their pre33 coins and they laughed and said they knew gold when they see it. My opinion is the sigma machines are hit and miss.

    • @subaction
      @subaction 2 роки тому

      Certain items have a shape or composition that is known to often give a problem result. Certain items need the probes to be used rather than the main sensor. Setting the machine to the wrong purity or composition setting will give a bad result too. It could have been operator error on their part. If you email the Sigma people, they may be able to tell you why this happened. They may be interested to know about it too. They might be able to do something about it if it was not operator error. I believe they release firmware updates that increase the accuracy and capabilities of their machines. It sounds more like those guys you dealt with were just smug pricks who did something wrong, though.
