I like my new MacBook Pro 13 inch base model. I enjoy the new keyboard, trackpad, excellent screen, and amazing build quality. I use this laptop solely as a device for school. I don't need any crazy ports, and stop crying about it too. $40 on amazon gets you sd, micro sd, 2 USB A, and an hdmi port FROM ONE USB C PORT. if you really wanted to you could get more ports out of these 2 usb c ports than the dell xps 13. The MacOS is the easiest most simplistic I've used coming from windows up until this MacBook. Time and time again id say windows deterioration is real.The laptop does have low specs for the price, but the optimization with the specs is what shows. The performance out of the relatively low specs is faster than many windows laptops and the butter smoothness from the MacOS is unreal. Id recommend this laptop to those with the money because I do agree it is VERY steep. If you don't like the laptop stop hating and crying about it on all the videos I'm just getting tired of it at this point. If you don't like it don't buy it, if you don't have the money for it the world doesn't have to know either. I enjoy this MacBook and this has no bias as I came from windows my whole life until now, I only switched because I needed a laptop that lasts, and windows never last for me.

It is too early to replace everything with avan-guarde technology, there are just no devices to fulfill that space, and Apple are not that much of a monopoly anymore to force new technology on people like that. I'd rather switch to Windows new Surface laptop, than deal with all this cord bullshit that Apple gives me for extra price.

USB-A is currently globally recognised, and is the port for most devices. My mouse for example uses USB-A, my phone, my controller etc... Having a device that wants to be compatible with the future will be neglected by the present. Sure, USB-C is quicker, and generally better in every way, but the fact that only a handful of devices use it just makes it a nuisance. A slower approach, with what I've suggested- 2 USB-C and 2 USB-A would work.

To everyone on about the ports.I don't miss them. I bought this to replace a 3 year old PC and I love it. The ONLY thing that I don't love is that the keys are so loud. They start to grate after a while.

Rockmanu I upgraded to the 2013 retina and it still runs like the day I bought it. Retina and weight reduction was worth it.

Removal of the glowing Apple logo was inevitable. The logo is lit by the displays backlight. Apple's next display tech will most likely use self-illuminating pixels (OLED or some variant) which means no backlight. This is a good thing because we'll finally have perfect blacks. The glowing logo looks really dated to me anyhow.

i agree but in a way ur hand would be blocking part of the screen. also in iPhotos when u are scrolling through photos ur hand has to be up there for a while which gets tiring and u can't see the full photo

I don't get all the hate on the new MacBook Pros. If you're not a fan of them, just leave it and don't even watch the videos. And it's just the few "bad" things which actually also have its good side which all are hating about. And all the good things Apple does are just being ignored.

Fabio Mota it is also because many of us are already using/used previous versions of mbp's and were waiting to upgrade. Now, not only we are looking at spending $2500+ for a not so pro computer but will also have to purchase dongles and carry them around. Speaking for myself, that is not what I was hoping for.
I have used apple products my whole life and have loved them. I rely on mac products for my job. The "pro" in Macbook pro is there because this device is directed at professional customers. The changes they made in this generation make it no longer appropriate for the work I do. Lots of people are in my shoes. Apple took a product line that was an incredible productivity tool and made it no longer useful. They seem to have changed their direction of focus as a company and that upsets people that relied on their previously incredible projects.

This macbook "pro" is by far the worst "pro" machine I've ever seen in my life. Every single apple product has increased by at least £200+. The 5 year old mac pro has gone up £300, why? Because of brexit? Why hasn't other firms increased prices, they get rid of SD cards, USB-A's, magsafe and the glowing logo and increase prices because of a touch bar and it's thinner. It's cpu is old gen and its gpu is a joke. 256gb for £1399. You could buy a top end windows laptop and pc with that money.

NightVision110 honestly, built quality is normal for a premium laptop; a larger trackpad does the same job as a normal one; the touchbar is cool but does not justify the price increase. The major screen improvement is only a brightness increase and in fact, I find myself using medium brightness on my 2013 mbp, so there's an impact for me. A larger contrast ratio really doesn't matter.

You don't really need dongles for anything, but yes, you might need new cables or new devices. There are USB-C thumb drives for instance. I must say that I personally rarely if ever use a thumb drive though. And with such an awesome trackpad you don't really need a mouse, but if you do you can use a bluetooth one. And for the iPhone, there are cables from USB-C to Lightning - no dongle/converter needed. I'm not saying it's great, but I personally kind of like how Apple pushes the industry by just dropping things. As long as you keep supporting traditional USB, people will keep using it and you'll never get rid of it. It'll be like this ridiculous VGA cable plug that you still see everywhere.

Sam Gates It's not. Not with digital displays. It looks great on CRT screens though. I have a dual 1680x1050 monitors setup, one which has both DVI and VGA ports and is plugged into the HDMI port of my computer, and the other which only has VGA and is plugged into the VGA port of my computer. I can clearly see a difference between the two monitors. The image appears crisper on the DVI/HDMI monitor.

I bought 3 of these macbook pro's. Bought 2 for my kids ones 11 other one is 14. I got them the basic 13" with lightbar and i7. For me I got the man's mac I got the 15" maxed out cost me $4k but so worth it. Total cost for all 3 macbooks where $7k including Apple care. Happy with my purchase bruh.

wow.. to have the exact same configuration as the 13'' retina macbook pro that I purchased 16 months ago on the new 13'' macbook pro it's 520$ (canadian) more expensive! 3149$ vs 2629$. Also, it's the same price for the same specs to have the macbook pro early 2015 now compared to when it was released.. even though a new macbook pro has been released!

I doubt that. Laptops usually are charged at a different voltage, usually higher than that (5 Volts) on a typical power bank for phones or tablets. The charger included is 61 Walt. If the charger output voltage is 5V, than the current will be over 12A, which is abnormal.
Besides, most power banks have a max output power of 5V 2A per port, which is 10 Walt.
So there isn't USB on this MacBook Pro

I was hoping to consider using the new Macbook Pro in the 3D modeling space and switching to the Apple eco system, but even the top end unit is under powered. There's nothing Pro about this, it's the console of the laptop world.

If the previous ones were ok then how are the new ones not? I understand that the no touch bar version is underpowered and the touch bar version is very expensive but it is still more powerful than the old models (especially now with 2017 release). They are not the console of the laptop world, they are simply more expensive and also much better designed and made.

If you are starting to learn programmation you already have a computer. I do program all the time and i have some 5 years old computer, I'm able to code from anything without any problems... even grandma computers. So how will it help you to LEARN to code?

with every video I think I get more and more convinced that I want to upgrade
I'm all for bringing in USB-c as the new connector, but... Really? No USB 3? No SD? That's a dick move to anybody who wants to jump over to Mac and will make any true techie cringe away. Only the loyal Apple apologists could stick behind that... Especially getting rid of the light up logo (which would look amazing against space grey). Also, why is Apple still working at i5? Almost everything nowadays is using i7, considering how many years it has been out. Nothing could every justify the Apple Price Point, if you look at the technical aspects. It's cute to be trendy and flashy, but not really worth too much substantially. However, I will admit any day of the year that it is far more convenient and easier to use. I would definitely like one, but realistically won't get one for many years simply because of the price. Especially because there are industries, such as the music one (which definitely affects me, as a music tech major), which use Macs as the industrial standard.
Also, the dumbest thing (this goes back to the USB complaint), is to not be able to connect my iPhone to a MacBook Pro. Perhaps that's a nonissue for people who don't connect the two, but that's a really important feature to have for most people (myself included) without having to carry around whatever dongle or adapter is required. Apple puts out a new product but can't integrate it's other flagship product (the iPhone) with it? Also, that's really just hypocritical of them to have a headphone jack. If they're going to jump onto lightning port headphones, they should make all their products as such.
But the diehard Apple fans who can accept no criticism will surely lash at me. I'm not against Apple. I use both Apple products and a PC.
EmoMFr2 USB-C is the future and Apple is just ahead of the curve. And you can just get the USB-C to lightning connector and the USB-C power adapter to use your phone connected to either your laptop or power adapter without any dongles. This is coming from a person who has never owned a mac so i'm not lashing to you because you criticise Apple.
KayJay using adapters is not solution. Noone wants to think which adapter to carry every time he takes his laptop out and also - noone cares what is future, we live now. Now 99% of stuff is USB3. It should have at least 2 standard USBs and for sure HDMI. Sd card reader is not such a deal as I use CF card anyway. But still - imac has USB ports - so you cant just buy usb-c reader, you must also have adaptor for it. Annoying.
Well, my response is simply that there's no point in investing in the future if you can't connect and transition with the current/the past. Like I said, I'm all for pushing the future, but you can't just ostracize the current system that's been in place with years. The only thing using the current USB-C only system is Apple, they're trying to push for a legal monopoly over the market. It's hypocritical of them because they don't care for the future. If they did, then why did they bring back the headphone jack - the removal of which being a huge controversy in the iPhone 7. Any current laptop you can buy with better specs and for a cheaper price has native USB 2.0/3.0 and HDMI support. Why? Because that's what everyone uses. It's "convenient" (the platform Apple has rode for a while). You need to have backwards compatibility on every step forward because not everyone can make the step forward without some form of security (especially things like industries that have been long set in their ways/haven't had many technological upgrades in a while). And, let's be honest, there's no real reason Apple can't have the backwards compatibility - not with all that space still left on the sides of the new MacBook!

There are two 13 inch macbook pros. One cheaper with regular keys, lower specs and just two usb-c connectors (the one in this video), and then there is a more expensive model with a little higher specs, display instead of function keys and four usb-c connectors.

I would have loved to see new iMacs. Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C is the future but I have a 27" 2015 5K iMac with Thunderbolt 2 and a 2015 13" Macbook Pro to go along with it, so I am not likely to upgrade the next pair of years given the fact that my Macbook still has an 10-11 hour battery life and I only use it for work out of home (software industry / Physics at the university)
why are all UA-camrs so biased for Apple? the new macbook pro sucks. it's overpriced, underpowered and will force you to buy a lot extra accessories. for the same price you get the amazing surface book. plus the touch bar is such a dumb thing, they should have made it at least a touch screen! i was expecting so much from the new macs this year specially since they took ages to upgrade it.

The biggest problem is they maintained the 'Pro' label when this particular model is anything but: 13-inch variations have Dual Core CPUs and no discrete graphics options, no SD card, the new butterfly switch is very subjective as to which you prefer, the touted Apple Ecosystem is disrupted before you even leave the Apple Store since you can't connect your phone to the machine without a dongle...this should be in the same product line as the normal Macbook, like you mention, but even then a minimum $1500? This just seems like a hard sale this time around...

I type a lot so I am curious about the new keyboard. When I tried out the Macbook's keyboard I actually liked it for some weird reason. The trackpad, the screen and the keyboard are the main reasons why I would upgrade, shame there isn't a glowing logo cause that looks dope.
