I fished that Longbow tournament and it was some of the toughest fishing I've ever experienced in Ontario--Jay is an absolute hammer of an angler and yet so humble, just a class act of a guy. I also love the enthusiasm when he sticks a good one, it never gets old. AOY was well deserved!
Congrats Jay !!!! Very well deserved , you are busting your butt and making it happen !! Thanks for pluggin your battery choice , I'll check them out ,,,, Been getting the run around from Dakoda since the beginning of July , hopefully I can get my refund and try my luck with Norsk .... Thank you .
Got a Jackson Coosa FD. I'm getting an Old Town 120 auto in the spring. Really liked the footage showing how fast you could go and the spot lock feature. Congrats on your win and fantastic video as always.
Loved this as me being a kayak angler I love these videos I have gone in some tournaments myself with my kayak but against big greatlakes boats in salmon derbys fishing up to 4 miles out when you tie into a 20 plus salmon on the kayak now that's a feeling I just can't explain.
Come out to Oregon and do some kayaking for white sturgeon. My pb is 10'+, 2.5 hours of being pulled around. Thankfully there were other guys fishing and got a few cool pics and helped me release it.
What an awesome video jay man i totally look up to you im trying to become a fishermen just like you i would like to compete in all these tournaments like you and get into guiding as well thanks for uploading congrats
I wonder how many other anglers had live scope to use. I feel like it takes alot of skill and fishing intuition out of fishing especially in Tournaments. I really do hope they stop allowing the use of it and then people can rely on their own skill and not on the screen in front of them.
I feel it takes a lot of skill to learn how to use live scope and time on the water to get yourself to areas that contain fish. Live scope helps dial in locating fish on the spot on the spot and then helps dial in techniques. Webe in his early video did the same with side imagining which is adorable most fish finders have. Live scope will only become more affordable. I don’t think Jay caught many more fish than the top 10 anglers in this tournament his happened to be bigger and the right species.
Here's an example. You get brought to a lake you've never fished before for a 1 on 1 you just get your boat and no electronics but a depth finder, the other person also doesn't know the lake at all either but they get a livescope and know how to use it. Now I ain't a betting man but even you can't tell me that they don't have a greater advantage over you in that situation. I think live scope is great for content creation, but I don't think it belongs in Tournament settings.
@@prestonblake-j5cmaybe for walleye fishing that is more true, but I’ve went to lakes for the first time to bass fish both with livescope and without and moreso than not I catch more fish using my intuition and knowledge shallow where livescope doesn’t help. I’ve went out with livescope and wasted so much time chasing blips on a screen that maybe weren’t even the target species. There’s a skill to it forsure more than any other sonar tech, and it still has its time and place. No need to draw the line on progress until it’s catching fish for you imo. No tech will make a fish bite still up to bait presentation etc
Also I think trolling takes no skill and covers tons of water and catches a lot of fish. Same points I hear people say about livescope might as well be made about trolling 3 lines at once (wisconsin) all around the lake. Way easier than casting one rod with no tech just like livescope. To each their own I guess I think you need to use it to have a worthwhile perspective on it
@@prestonblake-j5c tournaments no matter the size no matter the species no matter the era have always been pay to play. As long as the rules allow something anyone that takes tournament fishing seriously will do what they can with in the rules to get an edge on the competition that is the nature of all competitive fishing from your Tuesday nighter to the Elite Series. It has been like this for ever.

Woohooo! Well doneJay.
Been kayak fishing for 10+ years now. We prefer it over our boat. Glad to see you pushing the modern kayak scene.
If the root is good the fruit is good, God bless you Jay, from the golfer on Sturgeon River Road
