This was an incredible video. The 39 hours crew of folks make great videos because they are just great fisherman.
We catch and release probably 20 that size or bigger every year. Love you guys giving some love to the dinosaurs but now it’s time to come to NC and get serious! No sight fishing, just casting and catching up to 50 a day!

I always thought Bowfin/mud fish was a Florida trash fish. They are uneatable because of an enzime that causes the flesh to decompose quickly after death. Thanks for the ejumacation. signed, A Florida Man.
For the IGFA length records is it required to be measured on their bump board or does standardized commercial board like a Musky Bumper work? I tried to find it on the IGFA site but can’t find that specific information.

I wonder if you checked out Gagnon's sports just across the bridge by the sail that store is an absolute gem. that sail location has great stuff as well. Love the channel. I plan to book Taro with a friend of mine hopefully this year.
I just caught a bowfin by accident in lake Simcoe (Ontario). Same thing, sight fishing it, thought it was a huge smallie. Had no idea what it was when we got it in the boat. It was about that size, I wish I would have measured it maybe it was a record 😂

You maybe couldn't technically have caught less fish than day 1. However; you could have caught a bunch of rock bass, which would have put you down to negative numbers.
My biggest bowfin was 8 lb 4 oz and I didn't know until after I released it that it was a state record... At least I have the pictures to prove that I caught it lol!
Why does it have to be 2 cm bigger to beat the official world record? Technically a quarter inch is bigger….so I’m confused

Great Video Jay! Just a few days ago i was outside my house and saw a huge boat go by with a massive catch and cook logo almost the full length on the side of it and got so excited. I live near Sparrow Lake (few minutes south of Gravenhurst, ON) and i have never been so excited in my life. I had to explain to my wife what catch and cook was after that. Keep up the great work.
Great video and filmed in GTA congrats on the bowfin live release record, they are fun catching here off Lake Erie long point inner bay, highlight of Taro tasting the sweet stuff brings back memories of one of my fishing buddies eating live worms after me daring him r.i.p. old buddy. 🎣🎣🎣 he passed away a couple years ago not worm related lol 🎣
