Your Plaidington story is very touching, especially for anyone who have been taking care of their older parents. Also the location, with this historical red lighthouse in the background is perfect as continuity symbol between past and new technologies.
Kyle had the Lucid longer than Dave did. I can’t believe Dave’s gonna let him take it to Colorado, hook up that big trailer and haul a bunch of cars to it, beat it up, you know he’ll be taking it to CA a few times putting a bunch of miles on it, before Dave gets to really enjoy it. Dumb move with this beauty.
Congrats Dave I recently pick up my Model S in Ultra Red with Red Interior sadly I did not get the Model S Plaid I needed the more range but Plaidington is such a great Tesla Model X.
We got model x plaid same config with yoke ane there is some creaking when turning into interior and a big gap between the falcon wing door and the small window in the trunk area
Dave, Reseat that visor a couple of times. We have a slight rattle from the passenger side when it isn't "snapped" back in correctly. It will look secure, but a quick unsnap and snap clears up the noise - Good luck!
My grandma had a 1985 chevy impala 4 door that all the grandkids called the red sled. Rear wheel drive, small block v8, crappy tires..great for Wisconsin winters. I will say i miss bench seats.
Awesome car name thanks 4 sharing the back story. Just picked up my Model y 7 seater got the 7500 tax credit, free supercharger, and the new hardware 4 with all double pane windows
6:50 I can't believe your Dad had an Audi 100 LS! I had a '72 from '81-'84, and I think I put 200 miles on it total (not running the rest of the time) 😅

Usually it's a gray sticker with the manufacturer and the date it was made...it will have other info was well..and the vin will have a bar code so service centers just scan it. It's been this way for a long time.
Can't resist this tongue-in-cheek reaction: shall we place bets on how long you will have Plaidington before playing musical cars yet again? Not gonna hold my breath, Dave.
The Sentry mode footage should be hilarious as people who look at your car will see the bear in the back seat!! And should you ever be caught speeding, you realize that the cops will think you are nuts right? haha. Just teasing because I can. The car is stunning!
Thanks Dave for your Model X journey and Plaidington. So special. Question for you… just reserved my 23 ultra red x plaid and I see there are no park assist. That’s a big deal when parking in a garage space. Do you see it as a limiting factor? Thanks
Congrats, Dave. Are you going to ppf the front hood, bumper, and side view mirrors before you send it out west to Kyle? Enjoy it. I love my brand new Model S long range in the ultra red color as well. Did you know that these come with rear fog lights?
Dave, I took advantage of Elon’s offer to transfer my FSD from my 2017 X to a new one. I checked and found there was a new Inventory X in stock for $10,000 less than if I had ordered one with the exact configuration that I wanted. Checking Inventory is always a smart thing to do!
If the Paddington bear holds sentimental value to you, you may reconsider keeping it in car as I imagine it may get sun-faded overtime. Or maybe that's not a concern up there, but it would be here in sunny Texas.
Dave, congrats- I’m up in Fairfield and just ordered a Red X, 5 Seater w/ Cream interior. BUT… there is no way Dave still owns this car after Memorial Day. He’s going to be heart broken by the MX mini problems and annoyances that are coming both our ways. Dave’s wife is an absolute saint. He will be in a slightly used Taycan 4S sometime next year and then back to a MY with the front camera and Matrix headlights. These are predictions and not criticisms.
The Tesla configurator has a 2024 Model X Ultra Red, 20” wheels, White interior, dual motor, round steering wheel for $81,990. Delivery between January 2024 and February 2024. This config may have some upgrades like the front camera that Dave was talking about. I see no reason to get a “Plaid” as the range of 348 miles with 0-60 mph of 3.8 seconds is plenty and you do not need the 6 seater. The 5 seater is large enough. I realize Dave wanted this ASAP.
@@ArnoldWinters6 seats is the best MX configuration and the difference in price between MX and MXP is minimal if you want the 6 seat configuration anyway. Makes sense to get the MXP
@@jaychu3850 I’m thinking about problems as a combo of potential know issues and annoyances. On the known issue side: The Shutter/Drive Shaft issue is my biggest worry and I hope Tesla has fixed it or reduced the occurrence. Quicker tire wear is probably more self inflicted. Falcon Doors mechanism (improving problem), Squeaks and rattles (general wild card). On the annoyance side: no regular horn button, no blind side detection light, no 360 Birds Eye camera. A fiend of mine’s 2022 MXP had to have components of his steering column replaced as well as a 3 weeks job to replace some sort of inverter/motor related to regen… he did not have a good technical description for me (these do not appear to be major recurring known problems?). I’m still getting the car but from my research, the X has more issues the other models.
@@leanderzulu3494The difference between what Dave bought for $91K and what I configured for $81,990 is $9,000. I do not think much of Plaid, and 6 seater vs 5 seater. I did figure the 20” rims, and white interior. Plus by ordering off the configurator, you get a 2024 model which may have some new hardware like the front camera which Dave wanted as well as other refinements. Delivery is January 2024, to February 2024. Also, I believe this may be eligible for the $7,500 tax credit, which may be immediate. That means the retail price is reduced at the dealer level. Not sure if the tax credit will be there or off the dealer sticker.
Thanks for sharing that personal story Dave. What a great name. Your Ultra Red MXP looks amazing. I'm over here trying not to trade my 23 MYLR for an MXP lol. I'm just going to keep MYLR until I get my CyberTruck

Yeah no way in heck id let that happen. Unless Kyle chipped in to this purchase which Dave said he did with the Lucid
Its probably a "company" car. Maybe for tax reasons or something. Who knows. Bjorn Nyland use to haul stuff all the time with his old Model x.
He should be honest about that then, instead of looking the fool.
