It is 2024 and the “class” in this almost 30 year old interview is unbelievable. Simi ma’am is on another plane, another plateau. We all need to learn from her what being humble and yet classy is ! God like calmness and humility ! I learn so much from people like Simi ma’am.
That's what she knew as Iron lady of Tamil Nadu ❤

No "umms" and "aas" while speaking. No searching for words. I never knew she was such a good orator and has such clarity of thought and speech. Actually, I knew nothing about her until this interview.
Just came from Thalaivi, and thanks to the movie that now I am introduced to such a amazing lady
This interview should be shown in schools to young girls. This is pure gold 🪙

@@benaffleckisanokayactor I agree and disagree as well. The story is complicated. In all honesty she was unchained .. she didn't care about money and wealth, she was sick and tired of money and the societal push to "make it". The real issue is someone she hung out with - sasikala.
I too, watch and observe her word by word from this video whenever I am mentally down

Mantra of life at 53:43, 55:33, 56:50 , 1:03:15 by the Legendary & Inspiring Leader.
Mantra of life at 53:43.
May be it true,but
Assuming it true is more hurtful for me than the one whom I love more than myself (calling the love unconditional depends upon the judgement of this statement).
The way madam Jayalalithaa told how she used to grab her mom's pallu make us feel that we are so lucky to have our moms with us. We take are parents for granted but see there are people who crave for their mother's love and time. We should always respect them.
She did have her Mom’s love . It’s just that her Mom did not have time for her because she was the sole breadwinner of the family.
I have gone through the same situation..only person who goes through will ever understand her words to the core.
Tamilnadu can never get a better leader than Amma. She was so much talented. She was misunderstood because of the systematic vilification campaign by her opponents and a biased media. The DMK had foisted more than 54 false cases against her all of which she faced in the court and won. She didn’t beg anybody for help like some leaders.
Yes fully agree with you. She never seeked anyone's help..
Very true.
The best part about the interview is… ..
None interrupt others. One talking, other listen attentively. Both gave each other’s scope to ask questions & answers.
Well said!

My grandmother used to say, there are some people who come to this world only to serve people and devoid of any personal happiness or love. Jaya ji is one of them, salute you mam
She is the great genius and ironing lady of India politics behavior
Simi Garewal used to edit these videos at Crest Communications in Worli Industrial Estate. I had the honour of translating AR Rahman's Tamizha Tamizha song when they were editing that video. This interview is a text book on how to 'engage' a person. This is probably the only video where JJ showed her vulnerable side and her more human side. Full credits to Simi Garewal! Jaya and Simi are legends. This interview is a gem and a timeless classic.
All through the interview, there was a lump in my throat and tears at the brink of my eyes, but that last parting sentence where Amma acknowledged that only because of Simiji's persuasive skills did she open up to her like she never had, tears did begin rolling down. Simiji not once did you judge Amma, not once did you show false concern, not once did you fob your opinions; you were sooo warm that the iron lady too dropped her guard. And your true warmth even reached out to us. This is a classic interview.
Agree
Simi ji has a way of showing the same feeling in her eyes too. She shows lot of empathy in her eyes to which make the ither person pull the gaurd down and open up looking into simi ji eyes and her concern, the warmth, the care for you.

Thanks to Kangana for bringing out this strong woman's life before us, and further a big thank you to Ms Garewal for this civilised and candid interview. Hats off to all the three, Amma, Simi and Kangana.
Never thought a woman could have unlimited strength. In this complete interview she did not demean India. And what a graceful comeback. so inspiring
Why would you she demean India ?
@@ITGUY2023 that's a common concern for many Indians. Many people do not appreciate any alternative narrative apart from the narrative furthered by government propaganda. It's sad, some people would rather hear the lie that all is well with our country, instead of there's issues we need to work on to make this country even greater.
@@jonathankhare2966 sorry that's not the common narrative...most people are just tired of their nation being portrayed a certain way constantly, where our leaders and media speak only of regressive traditions like Sati and parda but never about syaamvar or takshila, where the only movies portraying India show either superstitious/spiritual vomit or stuff like slumdog millionaire, but rarely movies about the great minds of ancient and modern India. If you think wanting a better more justified image of India is government propaganda then maybe you follow a western colonialist propaganda whose sole purpose is to focus only on the negatives of Asian and African nations. Every country has issues, most Indians aspire to be like America or Europe but they have no clue what life is like in these countries and what issues these nations have because not much is portrayed about them in the media...so why is it India can't have the same priveldges without being called a government propaganda..look up some neighborhoods of Detroit Michigan, the crime rates of Chicago and Newark, skid row, east LA, then come tell me what real propaganda looks like.
You can make the country better when you and your fellow Indians start taking ownership of your country...and ownership (proud ownership) happens when you have something to be proud of...you would never claim an embarrassing thing as yours nor take proper care of it because you don't take pride in it and therefore no effort will be put in because you will treat it like trash...same way when you get a new car you take pride in it and take extra responsibility for it, because you are proud of it. That is the same case for putting in effort towards your nation.
@@karensmyth1215 I explicitly mentioned 'issues we need to work on' - working on issue requires acknowledgement and awareness of it, not sweeping it under a rug. I'm sorry if you feel constructive criticism of the country hurts your patriotic sensibilities. I'll leave it up to you to find ways to gloss over financial crime, the wealth divide, a faltering economy, and more. I also apologize for not being in touch with the news out of America, I generally don't concern myself with things like that, but if you want I can always be a hypocrite and condemn America, when my own country isn't doing anything better.

I wonder what she was made of? This interview doubtlessly changed how I picturized Jayalalitha. A personality that deserves great approbation. Anyone can derive so much energy from her past. Thrust into everything and yet the best in it. Such legends grace our country but a few times. She deserves a lot more publicity amongst the Indian public. This is a pure story of grit and persistence. A saint and a warrior combined, that's what she was.
Hands down one of the best interviews ever conducted in the world. Ms. Jayalalitha was the embodiment of good culture with extraordinary resilience. It is heartening to hear about her life, one that has been marred with more lows than highs, yet she persevered. One needs to be built different to have weathered such storms and still have the grace with which she carried herself. Ms. Simi Garewal will always be one of the best and probably the most charming interviewer I have ever come across. She is my family favourite and we used to wait in anticipation for the episodes to air. Grateful to now be able to relive that magic through UA-cam. I wish she would revive this program. Amazing that Jayalalitha was such a well rounded personality, a very fine dancer and actress, so good at languages, piano playing and well spoken and articulate in English and a dedicated leader. She was amazing as a human being, sacrificing a scholarship to enable her college education just to provide for a family. I’m moved by her story and the unexpressed tears I can hear in her. @@DeepthyAMenon why
I see a innocent child still hidden in her even after facing so many turbulences in life. A strong leader who succeeded in evey challenge life threw at her
Yes ..she told clearly in her interview that everyone took advantage of her innocence .. I highly suspect MGR also took her advantage. He got married 3 times n played with her emotions... I wish she should have married to a good man and had her own family too. Not sure why she didnt use her brain that time n understood that she should have her own family too.. she was good looking actress n MGR was way older for her.. unnecessary she wasted her life for such a old man...
@@snehalsankhe9985 it's not like everybody thinking. She never wanted to marry him or wanted a family with him. She compared her devotion to him to Krishna & Radha. Yeah of course she is manipulated by many persons firstly her mom second mgr. But they didn't take advantage of her in the way most people think. She couldn't find the balance in her life by differentiating what she wants & what her dear ones want? She just followed the path her dear ones what. I am a huge fan of her willpower & the woman she was. & I am not satisfied with the movie screenplay. They barely presented who really she was. They just showed the thalaivii jayalalitha. I feel they should worked more on the script if they are saying this is the biopic of Jayalalitha amma. They just focussed on the political growth of jailalitha
@@snehalsankhe9985 He didn't take advantage of her. He knew she would never be a housewife and had no desire to be one. Why would he want to be with someone who would definitely reject him?
He sensed her grand ambition to change the world and make the world a better place: she was naively pure in a way very very few human beings are. He knew he would have spoiled this purity of ideal by trying to "marry" her. So he steered her towards politics so that she can shine in a field that has the reputation of being muddy and rife with ego.
He was RIGHT.
Why don't we get such good interviewers these days? People in media now are just going in with a prepared set of questions carefully designed to provoke anger and get the interviewee totally out of comfort zone, sometimes embarrassing and humiliating. Just watch this video to know how to structure questions, what tone to use, what words to use, body language.... This is not an interview, it's a lesson. Masterclass. For free.

Betrayals made her tough..An innocent girl into ironlady !!
Mohana priya. True.....good observation about a person's attitude good..I like madam. Though I didnot belong to the state ...very disciplined dedicated lady...what a wonderful beautiful . Very hard working ...speaking truth.... ..but very innocent face...
.I didnot think that Mrs Sasikala betrayed her might be taken advantage of her solitude.. ..my mind says so.
Whenever she was talking about mgr... I can see the small smile on her lips.. Which make me smile too.... Ahh this lady totally drag me into her life and build a home in my mind to stay
The best interview in the world. The interview was done with elan and dignity with a touch of graciousness and class. Kudos to you Simi.
This entire episode should be broadcasted in each and every parent-teacher meeting.... for the parents to understand their INTROVERT CHILDREN.
We introverts are hugely misunderstood !
True 😭
Damn true
How about reading "Quiet" by Susan Cain.
Exactly
@language expert let me know u guys are misunderstood as what?
When she said happiness is gained by moksha...this shows that she is highest intelligent ...this is highest phylosophy to understand
Absolutely... It's the highest level of intelligence called spiritual intelligence.. not every intellectuals
can reach this highest hierarchy of IQ.
Yes.. I m totally shocked ... She is true divine feminine ❤️
I want her to be here , always.
She was done... Coz she was to be the nxt ... of India. May her Soul Rest in Peace. What a Great Soul.🙏❤❤❤
Obviously a person who strived a lot for love in his or her life and hurt by many, would understand that true love is beyond the boundaries of universe that is the abode of God or can be called moksha.
Today is Jaya ji birthday. Feb 24. Is anybody watching this fantastic interview in 2024 ?
No one, No woman should feel and experience pain inflicted in this manner, & this beautiful woman had to go through this! Blessings to her spirit to achieve pure & real & highest freedom 💖💖
She said politics and acting are not her chosen careers....but look how she stood top in the career she really didn't want to take up....
Real talent...
Yhaaaa really talented
She clearly mentioned her chosen profession - academician , that way she could do her best and not take the mud slinging , scandals etc ...
It's not a talent...
I wish Simi Garewal would come with this show again. She is probably the best talk show host Indian Television has ever seen!
Yeah this is better than koffee with karan
@@anjalibisht4779 Better than Koffee with Karan??? How can you even compare that dumb idiotic pompous show to this? Is Koffee is even a talk show? It's a platform used by Karan Johar to bully and belittle anyone he and his chamchas doesn't like.
Yes but her guests were dignified and respected too...now days we don't have that. People are too aware of the shady shit and nepotism promotion these celebrities do, so koffee with trash can is the perfect place for trash to come and speak.
She diluted her own brand name. She started calling audiences and her questions became weird. Her USP (making guests comfortable) was lost.
Which was this show??? In which channel this show was telecasted?? Idk , I am frm kerala. Pls reply
Simi and Jaya are both intellectuals! Hands down this was the best interview i've ever seen
Extremely sad after watching this interview. How difficult it must have been for Jayajis mother to leave her when her dearest daughter was clinching her saree in her fist . Oh! How I wish she could get her mother's love and care which she so much longed for 😔
Kangna Ranaut playing role of Jaya g and I must say she did justice and played very well.
Yes in the interview she said she would see aish playing her role in the movie in future , n sadly she is no more here to watch it ,kangana never disappoints though.
@@r0hini_P by the way I think kangana was just starting of that time or didn't even started acting
Kangna should also learn about Jaya's politics. Just acting out her character is not enough.
I don't know why tears filled my eyes..she is the real iron lady. Terribly missed her.
Same feeling
Was alamelu from the series sasikala??
They said iron lady.. How can iron dead in poison.. So,don't simply said iron, wood, or gold.. OK.. If said like tht wht we said to iron, wood or gold. Use ur brain on head.. Be smart. Indian TAMIL nadu people its class is low.. Cannot change even 2050
11:31 pure goosebumps
Every life is so mysterious and precious ..........every heart containing the untold and sensitive stories ........First time seeing Jayalalithaa opening up her heart .....All credit goes to Simi Garewal
Karan Johar , this is the standard ur show koffee with karan deprives of so badly! Learn being classy from Simi Garewal instead of bullying ppl
You're right! This show was so classy and awesome. Karan needs to stop his ways and learn to not be a bully
We should not even compare the both....Simmi has a different class
Exactly
Very true .
Well said. Simi carries the interview so gracefully . I love her the way she speaks.
She was so intelligent, n that's y she faced so many problems... Men never allow intelligent women to lead them or get ahead of them in our country...
Men always hate intellegent intellectual women..
Very true 👍
Women just need to be aware of such men and stop them at first instance. Talk less and not be friendly meaning too close. Reserved will be the word otherwise men will take
Advantage and belittle you.
This is the best interview of the century.
So much truth , surprise, grace and charm!
Oh my God! I got a like from the epitome of poise and charm! Madam your speech and vision is a treat for us . I being in my late teen years have always aspired to remain influenced by people like you.
If God and time allows, I'd love to meet you ❤️.
10:30 to 11:58 the best part of this interview. Simi asks Jayalalitha to sing and Jayalalitha obliges and sings. What a great interviewer, Simi is💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
My comment is long, because there are so many reasons I love Simi's style of interviewing.
1. There is no audience/unnecessary clapping, hooting or cheering. This helps viewers concentrate more on the actual conversation between the host and the guest.
2. The host, Simi Garewal, is not just an exemplary actor but also a very talented interviewer. She can gauge the emotional depth, tone, body language of her guests, and can switch between being succinct and elaborate. And ask the most intriguing questions, sometimes throwing her guests off their guards BUT in a pleasant manner. This provides immense emotional and intellectual intensity to the conversation.
3. She LISTENS. An invaluable trait, so very rare in interviewers these days. She is polite and passionately carries the interview by allowing her guests TO TALK. I can't emphasize how beautiful this quality is. She is calm, eloquent and asks questions with intellectual brevity.
4. The ambience of the set is very soothing for the eyes and ears. It isn't filled with cue-laughter and/or lousy background music.
5. She respects and dignifies not only herself but also her guests (Raveena Tandon's interview is a good example of this point.)
Thank you to all the producers and technicians, and Simi herself, for putting these series out for fans and audiences alike to watch. She elevates and makes all her guests instantly relatable, and human-like. Not to mention herself.
👍
I totally agree with you 👍
Jaya mam is the true example of woman empowerment and Simi mam is an example of a humble host. Honesty, courage, simplicity are the only words to define this interview.
True said ..even simi madam also his carrier best interview..
How many want another new season of Rendezvous ?
Simi ji come on… pls….
I lost count of how many times I viewed this rendezvous…
Love for Amma ever…..
I am absolutely in awe of this woman. I looked her up after watching the movie recently made and can not emphasize enough how she needs to be glorified in this world for how gracefully she stood in the face of adversity of lifes challenges.
Jayalalithaa ji's English makes me think she's an English scholar. And her smile when she talked about her mother made my heart melt.
While Amma looked like a goddess ,
SIMI ji looked like an angel in this interview .
I remember watching Mdm Jayalalitha’s this interview few years back and my dad asked me whether is this worth. I replied him as a woman, it is worth a million dollars and I have found walking reader’s digest book. What an interview.. what an intelligent and bold lady..
you look terific
The best interview of Jayalalitha. I never knew so much about her. She was such nice lady. I felt very bad and sad of her putting in jail.
Tamil Nadu misses her terribly now..
It's sad that only after her death people are understanding her and everyone want her today...
So true..
So true
S we miss our amma
So true.. we realise her importance now.. wat a bold and daring lady she was!
Yeh
You never hurt a woman and humiliate her Mr karunanidhi had done a great mistake by humiliating Mrs Jaya lalitha in his life that's why he lead his life in wheelchair for rest of his life
Karma maybe
Exactly said and his son Stalin is now trying so hard to become CM...if amma was alive, these gundas couldn't act like this
Karma speaks
Ms. Jayalalitha
Always watch ed her mov issue was a good actor very beautiful
