@@augustal4243 It's similar to salt pork and bacon, but mostly fat. People use it alot to help season greens, beans, etc. Despite it being mostly fat, it's pretty good
will this also work with a smoked turkey leg, a bit of lemon zest, garlic, pearl onions, or a diced sweet onion? I'm just now discovering greens and i love them!
Doing this today it'll be my 1st time eating can greens I can't believe im bout to fix can greens 😩 I don't feel like cleaning & cutting up no greens today used my last frozen zip lock pack last week
You can do this with most of the can vegetables and fruits. Especially black eyed pea , Lima bean, pinto bean, green beans, just add what seasoning and meat you like. Using can food get the cooking done quicker. Some folks sometimes can’t afford fresh vegetables and fruits. And sometimes fresh vegetables and fruits are in the grocery store are molded spoiled and sometimes just don’t toast right. You can’t always store up fresh vegetables and fruits for along time in your freezer especially if there is major power outages. There probably will be come a time when folks will have to depend on can foods. It very good to Canned your food from your garden.

Did you use salted or unsalted fatback? It looks so delicious. Thank you for sharing ❤️ Abba Father God and his Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ Bless you and your family always amen ❤️🕯️🕯️🕯️❤️
Miss Georgia, are you sure you’re from Georgia? Your deep southern accent sounds like you’re so far south you’re 100 past the tip of Mississippi. Whew!
The time depends on your stove. First you wash your season meat and have it cooking about one hour, before adding greens and one tablespoon of oil and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar if you like. You will cook these canned greens until the juice cooks almost out. But may sure the pot is full of water when adding the greens. The time it takes the water to cook out estimates 1 hour and 15 minutes. Everyone stove cooks different.
What do you need to know. Rinse your greens, have some seasoned meat already in the pot nearly done or cook them with some type of meat that could be added at the same time as the greens can't be any meat that take long to cook. Take to the stove and add one tablespoon oil, pinch of sugar, salt to taste have pot half full of water. Add accordingly. If you watch one of my videos and don't understand how to cook something just ask, and I will walk you through it.
I’m amazed to see you put sugar in your greens 🥬 causes that’s how l learned to cook my green vegetables including peas and butter beans and corn 🌽 10-3-2023-4:38♥️
I'm So Glad That You Cleaned The Greens 1st Even Though They're In A Can! Because If You Don't They Will Taste Gritty! 😋👍🏽❤
I pour the water off and wash all my canned vegetables. Wash the frozen vegetables too.

So good, Ann! Seems to me the secret is a little sugar in there, like you do. Yum!💛
Oh yes Sus! That sugar really enhance that favor.

Canned fresh food or frozen foods are way better than food in a can that's my last choice. Thank you for your comment!

Can you use butter instead of oil?
Yes; you can.
Are you saying the water you put in the greens, is better than the juice you drained from the can? 😮
That's exactly what I am saying, because my water turns into seasoned water with seasoned meat

The liquid at the end of cooking is delicious “pot liquor”! 🤤🙂

Thank you for sharing this! Do you think I could make canned greens work with a smoked ham hock?
Yes, absolutely!
She's alright with me! She's left-handed! All that's missing is some cornbread!
I had some on the side, can't eat collard greens or any other type of greens without cornbread.
Those greens look great ! I don’t eat pork. What would you suggest I season my greens with?
Josh. Turkey Wings or any smoked part of the turkey would be good.
is fat back and bacon the same thing ?
No, they are two different types of meat.
All the water dilutes the nutrients.
Don’t cook it if you don’t want to K Freeman.
No Joke!
Thanks!
Not as good as fresh and traditional but works from the can... Great job in a pinch
Everything you said is true. Although it works if that's all you can cook.
