I’m a 56 white lady named Karen, from California (no joke😂😂😂) however, I moved to Georgia two years ago. Thank you for helping me level up my greens. My Okie relatives cooked greens and black eyed peas my whole childhood so I grew and cooked them my whole life. I was definitely the only white girl doing that in Southern California! Love your channel. Subscribed!

Never had them w/ sausage. Will try it! That’s a meal! My mother use to have a “Greasy Spoon Restaurant before I came along” Her claim to fame was that “Cab Calloway” used to love her food!” I learned how to cook from her.!!One thing she did with greens is that she made “Steamed Cornbread Dumplings“ cooked on top of the greens. (She used the pot liquor from the greens mixed w/cornmeal, flour & baking soda & a pinch of salt) to make the dumplings! I never got the exact recipe (I was just a teen when she passed) but I’m sure you could figure it out! That’s some good eattin’!

Lookin good, AB. I always add a lil apple cider vinegar to my greens and it gives it the best taste. Also, if anyone ever encounter tough greens or they take too long to cook, lightly sprinkle a tad bit of baking soda in the greens. That fixes it. Your greens will be so nice and tender. Don’t sprinkle too much though or you will have spinach greens.

Dad grew collards to sell to local grocery stores. I’m pretty sure he brought home as many as he sold. We had them constantly. I hated them. My brother took over the Thanksgiving greens after Dad passed, but It was up to me to cook them this year. The sausage and boiling down the meat in a broth is key. Looking forward to making them again and growing a row. Thank you for the instruction.

I prefer mustard and turnip greens, with bits of turnips in the greens. That’s how my mama made them and it’s the best in my opinion. With some cornbread and hot sauce. That’s some good eaten. I’m definitely adding andouille sausage from here on out. ❤

Collards are so good, but I do love them turnip greens too. I'm the only one in my family that likes it spicy, so I usually have my own personal bottle of hot sauce to add to my bowl.

Im watching while eating my thanksgiving night "soup" which is brown beans slow cooked with a ham shank with some collard greens mixed in. So so good. Needed a simple supper after the huge thanksgiving lunch - or "dinner" according to my husband. Definitely doing them like this sometime!

For me, I love collard greens but always need a little pepper to kick it off. If I am feeling extra excited I add some hot sauce but overall....gotta be the meat. Gotta have it. looks so good
