    Climbed NW Face route V 5.11 A0 in 32 hours car to car from Happy Isles via the Death Slabs 5.5 to base of 2,000ft cliff.The Cables are great...afterwards we had a hearty meal of lentils, kale and chickpeas with 6oz of wheatgrass juice..yum !

    Holy smokes, literally! Honored to have done one of the first several free ascents of Half Dome NW Face in 81 (no permits needed back then, in fact on some of the crags, we used to drive right up to the bases!). I recall descending the Cables with our haul bags and it was no joke! Great vid! THANK YOU! Head bowed from Durango...

    I always wear a helmet and a climbing harness for the cable section. Unprepared hikers/runners could easily fall to their death taking you along the ride.

  • @marlinweekley51
    @marlinweekley51 2 роки тому

    Going up half dome is amazing but just as interesting is the hike up the sub dome , it has nothing to hold onto. When i got to the top there were several young guys laying down with severe leg cramps. Nothing anyone could do for them. Ya gotta get yourself back down no matter what.
    I know they take the poles down in winter but i thought they left the cables lay there - maybe that’s changed.

    Hey! I have a question… I want to do this hike! I love to hike and I do some “semi “ scary hikes lol but this would be the craziest! I want to do it though… to the question. Should I prep first? Like do a certain type of hike or something to prepare myself. If I get lucky to go on this!

    Hey Sage! Nice blog, great d’aventure, Sandi is such a beast 😆 “recovering” from an ultra like that... you guys rock!
    I was thinking about buying your “not so beginner” training plan for a HM, but for me it is a bit overreaching... I was thinking about adapting down the mileage and the goal (finishing under 2h for me...). So I was wondering if as a coach you would recommend finding a program that suits my level better or if I could just run less but still take advantage of your programming and workouts... I wanted to support your business and also I trust your knowledge, but there is no program for my level 😭

    • @Vo2maxProductions
      @Vo2maxProductions  2 роки тому +2

      hey thanks! the "not so beginner plan" is actually designed for sub 1:50 kind of time range as well so pretty close to your sub 2 hour goal. The real question is probably your mileage (Weekly mileage experience) and time commitment? So the "not so beginner Half Plan" tops out around 35-40 miles per week. Were you a lot less than that? If not, yes you certainly could reduce the volume a little bit (but not by a ton) mainly be shortening a few Easy day runs and the Long Runs by 2-3 miles...so if you are up to 30mpw that would be okay I'd say. If you are less than 25 mpw then it's probably too big of a difference. We are looking to offer more plan options in the future. Thanks for your support and consideration!

    • @nak6072
      @nak6072 2 роки тому +1

      @@Vo2maxProductions hey Sage, thank you for the kind and detailed answer and questions... My highest mileage has been around 25mpw (22-27) which I have been hitting consistently lately... I decided I will give it a try being extra careful and listening to the body. I got the all in add on to help with that also... my training won’t start till November but I am already appreciating the read. SO detailed, gentle and smart! You guys rock

    Thought the cables required gloves. Not sure of it's scarier to be hanging by the paws on a vertical cliff or to be stuck waiting for all the animals in front to move out of the way while the wind grows steadily stronger.
