Dandruff is a skin condition that mainly affects the scalp. Symptoms include flaking and sometimes mild itchiness. It can result in social or self-esteem problems. A more severe form of the condition, which includes inflammation of the skin, is known as seborrhoeic dermatitis.
The cause is unclear, but believed to involve a number of genetic and environmental factors; the condition may worsen in the winter. It is not due to poor hygiene, and the underlying mechanism involves the excessive growth of skin cells.

Sucks having dandruff especially when getting a haircut. It’s always embarrassing, even if I treat my scalp beforehand it’s still flaky. Why must we be cursed with this

actual tips?
- Don't use head and shoulders ( I use baby shampoo ).
- Lather your shampoo until bubbly then apply to hair gently ( ROOTS ONLY & not with your nails ).
- Wash it off, then apply conditioner to your ends only. ( it damn helps )
- Then wash, don't leave hair damp, and don't wrap your hair with a towel, please.
-If using a blow dryer try not to make it hot, cold is better ( ye, ik it takes time ).
-If using a comb afterward then use a comb that won't make use hair hurt. ( I use a paddle brush/all-purpose comb ) Like if this worked so people can see it :)
edit: also try to comb ur hair as much as possible ( not too much tho ) and to make your hair shiny use hair masks.
How many times you shampoo your hair in a week? And how abaout applying oil?

I understand what that's like. I've had dandruff since I was young and even lice I think. It sucked and I remember just last year a girl pointed it out and I was really embarrassed about it. I don't really get bullied for having dandruff but I've always hated my hair for that reason.

If you got brown hair u REALLY know the struggle. I remember when I was a bit younger I would ask my friends to braid my hair because my hair is SUPER thick and they would ask what’s in my hair and would pretend like I didn’t know it was there because I was embarrassed and they were disgusted by it. I thought my dandruff was gone until recently it started showing up more and more and it’s SO BAD as of right now… but, this helped a lot and will hopefully make a difference.

I have thick and curly black hair. When I was young I had always envied girls braiding other girls hair or styling them because I wouldn't let anyone touch my hair because of dandruff and also head lice 😭 Lice was such an issue that I had it for years growing up!
Thankfully, I have recovered because I went and shaved all of my hair off last two years ago, but now my hair has grown long and I started to notice dandruff!
I'm out here struggling with all these hair issues and having curly, dry hair and living in a tropical country does not help at all. My boyfriend has straight hair and he doesn't even have to manage it as thoroughly as I do 😭 I hope we can get rid of this gurl.

I would like to share my experience with dandruff as I was suffering from severe dandruff for past 5 years. No shampoo could help me out. I was also suffering from pcod, so dandruff made my hair worse. Then I started massaging my scalp with hot castor oil with vitamin E and coconut oil. I used to apply it before sleep and wash it next day with shampoo(I used dove anti dandruff shampoo). I did this thrice a week. On the other days I used to massage my scalp with ashwini hair oil. As my scalp is dry, I prefer to use oil. Besides it was lockdown then, so I felt no embarrassment having oily hair everyday. I continued this treatment for more than 2 months. And now I have almost no dandruff. I even forget to shampoo my hair once in a week due to peer pressure, but those flakes do not come back. Though I still try to have a castor oil massage atleast once a week because it also helps hair regrowth. One more important point, never scratch your scalp even if it is super itchy, it may worsen the condition.

I absolutely hate dandruff, I can not put my hair up, I can not scratch my head, everytime I put on some conditioner that helps, it just comes back in 10 minutes. Even without scratching my head. It’s also kind of hard not scratching my scalp, because sometimes it gets all itchy. And it’s so hard walking out with dandruff on your head. It is my #1 insecurity. But seeing other people also having it too, doesn’t make me feel like the only one that has to deal with this problem. I just wish this UA-cam video would have helped a little bit more. This wasn’t as helpful as I expected, but thanks for at least putting this video out and giving some tips.

I had COVID that lasted around 10 days. At first, I believed I was fine until I started to lose more hair than normal. After doing some research, I've come to realize it’s from the strain my body went through during that time and also the shampoo that I was using. Guys, I treated my 20yrs old dandruff issue with in 2 weeks completely.
I wish somebody would have told me this before. Basically dandruff is scalp pH imbalance issue. Your skin is more alkaline than acidic.
Simple solution - buy a bottle of raw apple cider vinegar instead of dandruff shampoo and keep it in bathroom. Mix 1 spoon of vinegar in 1 mug of water. And rinse your har with this everytime you bath. Your skin pH level will come to normal and the dandruff will never ever occur again.
Note: do not shampoo or wash with normal water after vinegar rinse. Vinegar rinse should be the last.

@@aclinx no dot not stop vinegar rinse. I made it my normal bath routine to wash my hair with (1 tea spoon baking soda in half litre water ) instead of shampoo and after that rinse with (1 tea spoon vinegar in half litre water ). I had stopped using all hair products. It's been more than 6 months now. I am completely on this routine and dandruff and hairfall free.
Stop using shampoo. No matter how much they call it chemical free, it always has. I learnt that shampoo generates foam only because of chemical which is there in detergents. Without which foam generation is impossible. I found no-poo method. On UA-cam and ditched all hair products since then.
@@Ryan50257 I have been facing hairloss and learnt it hard way. That it was because of my dandruff. And yes, once you are able to clear your scalp from dandruff, it should stop hairfall as well.
I personally,
1. Stopped using shampoo. Instead use baking soda wash. Now on no-poo method. Search this no poo method for hair wash.
2. Started vinegar rinse
3. TRimmed my hair to lowest to start my hair repair journey.
4. Started applying neem oil to prevent my scalp from any skin infection / algae on scap which causes dandruff.
5. Also apply rosemary oil everyday night for hairgrowth. It's as good as using chemical like minoxidil. Never ever use minoxidil for hair growth. Else you'll have to use that lifelong which you don't want to.
I have been following this routine from 6 months and I have started getting results. One thing to note. Once you stop shampoo and move to baking soda wash, you'll may see increase in hairfall and for few days you may find your scalp greasy for few days or weeks. But don't worry. And keep following it. Your scalp skin will slowly accept this routine. And stop producing extra oil. And that will stop greasy effect in few weeks. Then after that even if don't shampoo, your scalp won't be greasy at all and dandruff free.

I did something and it worked out .....just hear me ...put aloe vera in your hair especially In scalp...then wait for one hour ..now mix lemon with water ...one bowl full of water and squeeze one full lemon ..and dab that lemon water in your scalp for 5 minutes ...and wait for one hour ..then wash your hair ..you will thank me later just try it ..I have still some dandruff left ..but it's now okay and itchiness is gone too

I'm 13 and I'd get these bumps on my head and I have a really bad habit of scratching so I'd scratch it and it would start to bleed and I would continue to scratch it leading it to get infected, after I stopped scratching because of my mom, I tried using coconut oil and I even went to the doctor and I got this dandruff shampoo and this scalp lotion. My hair thinned a lot because of this and it did get better but I feel ashamed of having thinner hair because you can see my scalp sometimes :( stress doesn't help :')

@@theduck9564 I don’t believe so but I don’t think I used it long enough to really notice a difference, however, it’s different for everybody as we have different hair types, I’m sorry I’m not that helpful but I hope you find your answer!

Get scalp brush. You prlly have all that chemicals building up on your scalp. It’s works for me. Also don’t use shampoo everyday and hair routine

Sunlight for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis treatment best I ever get. In summer 5-8 AM , Winter 6-9 AM . 1 hr is sufficient, Front face against sun for 1/2 hr backward face against sun 1/2 hr. Diadvantage -- don't go afterwards 9 AM because Sunlight become worse by UV rays .
