Your video here was so helpful to me. I just bought a 2021 Explorer and your guidance to all of the features were great! Thank you!!
Glad the video helped Tristan! How are you liking the Explorer so far?
Such an underrated channel. Keep going man you're doing great!
Thanks Matt, appreciate that!
Thank you!!! Your video helped me understand my Apple CarPlay better.

Happy to help Andres!
I just bought a 2021 and I am able to connect my phone but I have to do it and paid each time. How do I get it to reconnect automatically?
I just rented this car, but I don’t have the middle media panel area that you have in your car… it looks like it is folded down, how do I open it?
That's odd.. The Explorer doesn't have a folding media screen at all. So that makes me think the car rental company has installed something aftermarket. Any way you can share a pic or video? Share the link through Instagram or Facebook!
Plugged the iPhone 11 I had into an explorer and it worked. Did all the steps and disconnect/reconnected over and over and CarPlay not showing up
Have you tried removing the vehicle from the phone? Other option would be to go to
Settings -- > CarPlay
Select your vehicle and then make sure that CarPlay is turned on!
How do I connect wireless?
No option to do that through the Sync3 media screen unfortunately
When I plug my cable in car play screen doesn’t come up. I think I remember when I first bought the car and tried to charge phone it came up and I canceled it. Now it won’t come up. How can I fix that thanks
Check to see if the CarPlay or Android Auto logo are visible in Settings. Then make sure it's turned on! If the logo isn't there, easiest thing to do would be to remove the phone from the vehicle, add again and then re-connect your USB cable.
What if when I plug my phone in, it doesn’t show the Apple car play option? And when I went to the settings in my phone, it won’t find my vehicle to connect it? I had to reset my settings in my suv because it kept messing up, previously it was working. Now it won’t connect at all! I don’t know how to get the Apple car play to show up back on my vehicle. Please help!
Few things you could try..
1. Perform a soft reset --> Press and hold the left seek and radio power buttons for 5 - 10 seconds which should make the screen go black and reset after 1-2 mins
2. Delete the phone from the vehicle and the vehicle connection from bluetooth and from Settings --> General --> CarPlay and then re-connect over USB
3. Last one is to replace the USB cable. Older cables or some 3rd party ones have trouble with data connections
I just bought a 21 Explorer today and when I go into settings, all I'm presented with is the android auto option, why is that? I don't see the apple car play prompt. How come?
The previous owner most likely owned an Android and didn't remove their phone from the vehicle. If you plug your Apple device in via USB, it will prompt you to connect to CarPlay and that icon will show up
The apple car play not showing in my car, I mistakenly remove the car play in car after my map stop working. Need guidance
The icon will go away if you only have one phone and click remove in the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay screen - but it will show again once you connect to either one again
Disconnect the phone and then reconnect for it to work again
Need help please, I have the Explorer 2021, I got a new IPhone. And after this the CarPlay sometime connect and disconnect.
I did reset on the car, also I remove everything from car and from the phone.
Sometime is working and stop working when I drive.
What can I do, or I need to go somewhere
Have you tried getting a new Apple branded USB cable? Make sure that the Explorer software is up to date in the media screen. It’s under the Settings menu
If the software update and cable swap don’t work have your local dealer check it out
Thank you, I just change the cable
Sorry to bother you with one more question.
I have the Explorer 2021, when I buy it, I didn’t get the full Co-pilot360 Assist+ because Miss information.
So I just have Co-Pilot360, Without the Option Assist+ .
So I see I really need it that option, is anyway so the dealer can install it, and I have to pay after.
@@majkelanastasi55 Not bothering at all! It would be pretty expensive to add that in aftermarket.
Installing factory navigation after purchase means replacing the whole Sync3 screen that has a GPS module - that would be at least $1,000 for the part plus the cost of labour. The adaptive cruise and other features would require even more reprogramming and sensors. My guess is that if you find a dealer that would be willing to do it you'd be looking at $2,500 or more
@@CarsWithSteve wow to much, thank you for your answer, very helpful.
And I will try to ask the ford dealer for that, how much can exactly cost.
I wish you all the best brother
It work but how can i do it whiout the charger
You can't connect wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play in the 2021 Explorer because the Sync3 system doesn't support wireless unfortunately
@@CarsWithSteve ok thank you
@@samyjmail2251 any time!
Can you use the android phone music without having Bluetooth connected I don't want to use Bluetooth
You’d have to be connected through USB for that to work without Bluetooth. It is possible though
Thanks for the quick response, it's just I don't want to lose sound quality that Bluetooth compression causes
@@patrickcarlson1400 Makes sense! I'd say connect right through USB instead. It'll give you the best sounding audio
Help please 😢I tried to do all the steps but it wasn’t working so I tried to delete the Apple car play from the car and now I have no idea how to get it back?
No worries, when you delete CarPlay it will remove the icon but you can always reconnect to get it back!
Try this:
1. Delete the car connection from your phone as well. On your phone go to Settings -- > General -- > CarPlay and delete it there
2. Reconnect to USB where it should prompt you to connect to CarPlay
If that doesn't work, delete the phone connection from the vehicle and vehicle connection from the phone again. Replace the USB cable with an Apple original. I find that sometimes 3rd party cables don't transfer data properly. Connect over USB again and you should be good to go!
can apple and Android co-exist ?? we have two different phones
You can only use either android auto or apple carplay at a time.. unfortunately can't have both connected simultaneously
@@CarsWithSteve Thanks
It is really annoying how when you have apple car play, You can't switch to Android real quick, Instead the Suv wants you to turn off the Vehicle.
You could go into the settings screen and disable car play or android auto as needed instead of turning the car off

- Actually I figure it out, So my mom had her Iphone plugged in with the USB adapter, so when the 2021 Ford Explorer is On Drive,
-Noticed how you can't disconnect at all even if you press all the buttons on the touch screen display it will not exit off Apple Carplay Then I realised oh wait the reason why Iphone Carplay can't be remove and go back to Ford Explorer Normal Screen Display Mode, Unless you Unplug the Iphone's Charging port from the USB cable,
- No matter what buttons you press it will not come off unless you Simply Unplug the charging port , I HATE iphones I am a Android Only type of guy, so this annoying because if mom wants to charge her phone the Screen Locks On AppleCarplay ya know.
@@818SMERK818 Well that's good that you found another way to do it!

When you connect over USB again the CarPlay or Android Auto button should pop up if you swipe through settings. It won't be able to auto play CarPlay or AA though
