- Vietnam currency can be quite confusing at first sight when you arrive for your Vietnam holiday. All those zeros, different colours and similar notes with values of $1 and $22. Get them mixed up as a backpacker and you will not be a happy chappy!
Here I will go through each individual note and explain what you should see on both sides, what the amount is in various currencies around the world & what you can buy with it. I will also help you say each amount in Vietnamese.
**Don't miss the taxi scam tip, you must watch for this alone to avoid being ripped off!**

are they rving what will be the rv price after the rv
Thanks for the money tips never been before I have a question on carrying a back pack for buying things or carrying money what’s the best way of doing this ?! With out it being grabbed on a bike or off your shoulders .. does anyone use bum bags ?!
Thanks Deborah. I'd say bum bags would be a good option, don't keep too much cash on you and don't hold your mobile phone out in front of you on street edges or corners would be my first thoughts. Any pockets in bags, keep them zipped up. A lady in our group of 40 last week had her smartphone stolen from her bag, but she forgot to zip it up. Night market and Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi) are prime spots for pickpockets. Maybe others can chirp in with their own thoughts and tips. Thanks for watching Deborah.
Hi sir can i ask a question the old dong money will still change in money changer thank you for answering my question?
Depends how old I suppose. I wouldn't count on it.
500 dong if change Philippine money how much sir?
How can I get some currency? Like $50 dollars worth.
How much the value of 5000 in convert in peso in the Philippines
I'm sure you've googled it by now right? 😁
This had helped thanks before I travel again i watch again. But in dont trust anybody there
Don't travel if you don't trust anyone...:) Seriously though, keep an eye on the different notes and you will be fine.
Thank you. Appreciate your info from a local Vietnamese citizen. Thanks for watching, hope I explained it well enough for the tourists. :)
Can you tell me how much they are ?
What do you mean please? How much is what?
5000 in usd
it's 22k now per dollar now
Not quite. It's 22800 as per xe.com, nearly 23000!!!
@@TravelAgentHanoi how can I sell my Vietnam paper bills and where to sell here in Philippines
It's 24k dong per us dollar now
No worrys dont be confused 1 usd = 23220 vnd
Do you work that out in your head when buying things? 😳😂
😂😂😂
I counted about 7 ads this clip...thats ridiculous
I'll look into that, that is too many. Thanks for pointing it out.
That's been reduced Joe. Sorry if the viewing experience was not up to scratch. The revenue since it was published from those ads, wasn't even the lowest 7 denominations added up of the Vietnamese currency so its not like it was doing anything. Thanks
@@TravelAgentHanoi no probs
@@TravelAgentHanoi do you live in Vietnam?
@@joejackson3668 Yes I do. This is my Vietnam life here at the moment. With all this pandemic and no clients to visit, most of my time is made up of this channel at bit.ly/VietnamVillageLifeUA-cam Hope to see you there Joe 🤞🏻 Edit: No ads 😁
When it revalues I'll be 8 million plus wealthier!!! 👏😀
Why is that?
I have plenty of Vietnam paper bills
Send them here...:) haha
Great info, I'm happy you decided to add Malaysian Ringgit in the exchange list. I've only seen 500 dong once. And never even heard of 200 dong. That'll be interesting to see.
Haha thanks Danial. Yeah the 200 Dong is not often seen but I have had it stuck in my wallet for months before and it always ends up in a drawer somewhere gathering dust! 😳
For me, those are the cheapest lightest best souvenirs
Wouldn't it be easy for an American to be cheated out of money is 1:48 Kansas City Kansas USA.
hi , i have over 1 millions VND collection
👌
You are rich!
Hello sir I have one 2,000 Vietnam money
👍
nam is 5000
Nam is 5.
Funny money.
😁
Fascinating video Si, I've got a collection of notes and coins, I don't think I've got any dong though. I remember when Italy had the Lira, it was all thousands. I kind of miss seeing larger looking notes. Euros are boring in comparison.
Yeah I think I had loads of currencies back in the day before the euro..nightmare! I’d say they could do with a 1m VND note but doubt it will happen. Thanks Emma 👌🏻
Tất cả những mệnh giá từ 200 đồng trở đi thì luôn luôn có Bác Hồ còn riêng tờ 100 đồng thì lại không có
Thank you for the info. I have only seen one or two 100 Dong notes and didn't notice to be honest. Thanks
I couldn't stop laughing when you mentioned the donuts man!
Oh man now I'm curious about this donut man, can you show me what this donut looks like?
😄 Hate people getting ripped off. 👌🏻
Doughnuts being carried around in baskets by the ladies aren’t that nice anyway Danial. They’ve been dragged around all day in the boiling heat and tasteless. You pay a pretty penny for these too. Best place to buy fresh doughnuts is at 1 or 3 (can’t remember exact number but you’ll see queues of Vietnamese on their bikes waiting outside) Luong Ngoc Quyen in Hanoi’s old quarter. 👌🏻 Thanks for commenting guys.
Very useful, thanks. I'm going to vietnam soon, my first time, and now familiarizing myself with the cash money. Maybe someday they will remove some zeros from these notes. Seems like a wise thing to do.
Thanks that's nice to hear. I will probably do an updated video on currency to show what prices are like now and what each note can buy you, especially now in high inflation times. Thanks for watching. Yeah I wish. But when we work on our calculations for our tours etc with clients we don't bother with the last 3 zeros and divide by 23 (ish) for the dollar. Hope that helps too. Cheers
Wow , when I moved abroad I though people stopped using the 500 VND. I'm so happy to see it's still there!
To be honest, it probably isn't used by many people, but is used as a trick by the supermarkets. They price things at 29500 and take 30000 from the customer, more often than not don't give change...I've found anyway. Or, they will offer a 5 Dong sweet in its place!! Shocking actually. Imagine all those 500 VND from all their customers, amount up to quite a bit...!
Vẫn còn nhưng mệnh giá nhỏ quá nên đa số mọi người sẽ không còn dùng nữa chỉ từ 1000 đồng trở lên mà thôi
Mickey Mouse Money....
Didn't do Walt Disney any harm. 😉
Currently in Vietnam and it's 2.38 mill per $100 🫡
👍
I was shocked the first time in Vietnam. I became a millionaire instantly. I cannot wait to go back to Vietnam and to become rich again.
Yes it can be a shock your first time. It does get easier the more you spend. Let's hope for a 2022 full opening of Vietnam. Thanks for watching, please help the channel by subscribing and share to your friends and family. Thanks
