Steve Di Giorgio Signature Bass SDGB1 | Ibanez

- Known as one of the most proficient and prolific bass players in extreme music, Steve Di Giorgio’s range extends out from heavy-thrash-death metal, progressing to the technical side of fusion and the fluid & funky field of jazz. While notably performing in Death and Testament, Steve has also established himself as an in-demand studio musician, as his technical and recognizable bass skills have been carved into over 50 albums in his 30 plus year career. When looking for a reliable bass that could adapt to any gig, Steve has trusted his Ibanez BTB models to do the job. So naturally, when designing a new signature model, Steve leaned heavily on many of the key BTB features as the framework for this bass. The final result is the combination of Ibanez’s modern innovations and Steve’s decades of experience - the SDGB.

Finally!!! The legend has his own signature model!
Agreed!
He had an esp model i think
About fucking time!
But Ibanez:(
@@KILOPONDIO99he long time has used BTB...🤘
The Philospher bass solo at 1:45. 30 years ago I bought a fretless bass (mostly) to play this song, which I did (badly, but with pleasure and conviction) at a couple of gigs. Thank you for being an inspiration, M. Di Georgio. And thank you Ibanez (I have also always been a fan of Ibanez gear, I own 2 basses and a whah pedal).
A riff isn't a solo just because it stands out lol
The Godfather of Fretless Metal finally gets his signature model. About bloody time.
I did not realize a fretless bass could sound that aggressive, very impressive!
He is afterall the John Entwistle of Death Metal.
Steve is so under rated. Thank you Ibanez for recognizing him. This bass looks incredible.
I don't know about that. He's a legend. He's a wizard. He's one of the best. How is he under rated?
@@TheCyberMantisunderrated in bass circles outside of metal IMO. I hardly ever see him mentioned outside of metal
under rated? he influenced a whole generation of bass player and pushed the boundries of the bass in death metal and fretless in metal, what are you talking about
How is someone who is heralded by ANYONE who knows his name underrated? The man played on the best death album. He's only underrated to people who live under rocks
One of the most respected bass players in metal. Hardly under rated.
Under rated comments are over rated.
Oh he finally got a signature model, he has been playing Ibanez basses for a while already. It's nice to see a BTB model that has a gloss finish, most have only the open pore natural. Steve is a great bassist that deserves more praise and recognition.
No man more deserving, truly a legendary player, took ya long enough Ibanez!
Steve Di Giorgio is the reason why I would like to get into fretless basses. And now the SDGB1 would definitely be my dream fretless bass!
A monster player. His work with Death was amazing!
I started playing an ESP 4 string fretless back in 2002 because of Steve - he was the number one inspiration for me way back then. I had never heard fretless bass in metal and it changed everything I thought I knew. Absolute legend!
"The Explorer" bass lines OMG so amazing, i ♥ Vintersorg and the work you did with them , amazing , the SDGB1 sounds and looks great 😻 you're a legend Steve!
One of the greatest bass players of all time. Long time deserved signature model.
Thanks for playing those Death parts 🤘🏽
About damn time! Easily my number inspiration for bass playing. Never understood why ESP never made a signature model for him back in the day.
This man is a legend! And the bass is beautiful, good job Ibanez!
Steve makes any bass sound good. Top ten best players that have ever lived (so far).
that is a gigantic stretch that doesnt live in the realm of reality, and im a BIG fan of Steve. He has pushed boundaries and carved out his own lane in the world of bass which is much more than most musicians can claim but we really need to be realistic when it comes to definitive top 10s (yes its subjective but sometimes the black and white answers are exactly that). Flea, Les, Vic, Jaco all have confirmed spots. And I know old heads think this is absolute sacrilege but modern players like Charles Berthoud should absolutely be shown respect. Older players will dismiss them because by default acknowledging anything new makes them feel old but bassist like Charles and Davie are doing things on the instrument that have never been done and absolutely could not be achieved by many living bassists. Same goes for other instruments too. Bonham is an all time great and as pivotal/influential as it comes to the history of drumming but in his prime he couldnt dream of playing most of what El Estepario has mastered on the instrument.
@@justmedee including Flea in this top ten is an even wider stretch. but we can agree to disagree.
No one:
Absolutely no one:
@@justmedee: mentions Flea but not Stanley Clarke 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
been a fan of his for over 20 years, love this!
cheers to Steve and Ibanez both
Ordered, shipment due in three months in Australia.Super excited.
What a rad birthday present! Happy birthday, Steve, and thank you Ibanez for recognizing and supporting this legend.
I've waited my whole life for this. I bought an ESP fretted bass because I loved Steve's playing, and I would have bought a signature if he had one back then. When I go into fretless I got a Warwick 6, once again because Steve didn't have a signature model.
If I ever end up getting a new bass this is it.
1:53 Love your throwback to Death's 1993 album and song "The philospher." Easily one of the most amazing heavy metal albums ever fucking made.
Steve and Les claypool are the reason i started playing bass. About time he gets a signature model very interesting to see a fretless for a change , curious about the pricetag i like that it doesn''t look toooo flashy like some signatures with bloodsplatters on it or the artist name on the front of it.
Before I look it up I'm gonna say... $4200. Correct me if I'm wrong lol
1499 EUR at Thomann right now
My 2 favorite bass players by far
His playing on Individual Thought Patterns made my brain splatter. Incredible player by skill, but where he excels over essentially everyone else is the creativity of his lines and creating a unique style that you can recognise within a few seconds.
great to see more signature basses. steve is a legend
@@SatisfiedPopeye symphony x is the best🤘
I don't think I've seen anyone play the bass that fast😲😲😱😱😱🤯🤯❤️❤️❤️
His work in Defiant Imagination is absolutely stellar.
Steve di giorgio, sean malone, gary willis, great fretless bassist. Steve mentions Gary at the beginning, he is a big influence for all bassists of any genre.
Finally Bass!! My wishes came true! We all love the BTB! Another dream Bass you made there!
And Justice for Steve!!! Un instrumento único para un artista único. Muy feliz por Ibanez y Steve!
The funny thing is, Steve had his own "...and Justice" moment when he was nearly inaudible in the mix on Human.
That mid knob is genius, very cool
0:57 - 1:45 The song name is: Vintersorg - The Explorer
Name of the song 0:00 0:54 ?
Testament- Code of Hammurabi@@bassplayergt7474
Just when I thought I was set with both my Stingray Special 5 and Sadowsky ltd ed 5, here Steve comes with a fantastic fretless Btb
This is very very tempting. A six-string version would have been a no-brainer. I’ve been looking for one of the relatively few fretless BTB 6-string fretless models for a good long while, without luck. But very very nice to see Steve Di Giorgio get a signature bass.
Individual thought patterns was one of my favorite death albums- I think the bass on that album has to be the most epic recorded bass of all time on any album !
Amazing crunchy, bity sounds!
That bass is killer! Steve is a legend. Gratz on the signature model! Ibanez rocks!
I love that he’s playing fretless in heavy music. Sounds so cool. ❤❤❤❤
It's about damn time! 🤘
It’s about time!
Steve is a Legend!
What a beast of a bassist!! Such a killer style!
Steve is everything that's right about Metal. What an awesome player and what a beautiful bass!
Nice to hear all those songs with the bass on top of the mix.
Justice has finally been done with one of the most influential bassists of the genre, his originality and mastery have finally paid off, it had taken a long time to make his personalized model. AT LAST
This is amazing to see 🎉
Took long enough. One of the best bass players that ever walked this earth.
Beautiful Bass BEAST. Sounds amazing and it looks awesome. Bravo Ibanez, bravo Steve. You guys nailed an outstanding versatile Bass.
Name of the first song? 👀
Looks amazing. Really nice color.
Wow! Wasn't expecting that! Nice bass.
Few more deserving of a signature. Congrats ibanez on landing him.
it's about time; congrats 😊
That tree is helluva amp. Killer bass ❤❤❤❤
A well deserved Signature Model!! Hell Yeah!
Looks like a really potent instrument, fit for the monster of a player Steve Di Georgio is.
BTW, I have noticed quite a while ago that Steve uses a fairly unorthodox technique to mute the lower strings by sliding his thumb underneath. It's perfectly evident on "The Philosopher" solo here. Looks like pretty effective method especially if one has fat pickups that give enough space between the strings and the body. Might give it a try myself as I have even fatter humbuckers on my bass.
I think I’ve seen Steve Harris do this too live now that you mention it. I’m going to try it out. I agree it makes sense
Awesome bass and fully deserved, Steve is a great player.
Masterpice! Total speechless here! Hope finds one of this soon here in Brazil!
el papá de todos los bajistas de metal Fretless! Grande Digiorgio!
It's about time!!! \m/
Congrats Steve D.! You deserve.
Horror Show was such an awesome album!
Thats an amazing sound i just bought an Ibanez 300 bass probably more than half the price of this and luckily it has frets. I love it great bottom end humbuckers that cuts through the mix unlike my old SX series standard bass that was a bit of a battle to get heard or felt in the mix.
I was looking at it on sweet water and wasn’t sure what to think about the green. I didn’t dislike it but seeing this video it all makes sense it blends so well with the natural background haha
Amazing! A well deserved signature model for the Hippie of Doom. Super cool to hear "The Explorer." Congrats, Steve!
DEATH-HUMAN is a masterpiece.
Emerald green..it is a very beautiful bass guitar.
Ibanez truly aiming to be the king of bass.
Yes! A true metal pioneer gets a well deserved signature bass!
Oh man, that solo from The Explorer gives me goosebumps every time! 🤘
Awesome!! You really deserve it man
spectacular bass
This guy kicks so much ass. Testament is the best. Even though I quit playing, I might get one of these just because.
The Philosopher rips man used to watch that on the power hour/Loud on much music i used to have a stack of VHS tapes of recorded episodes. They played that song a lot thats how i discovered Death in the first place.
Excellent. Love it.
Awesome bass sound. I also have an Ibanez bass, love its sound. There are 2 great giants named Steve in metal world. Steve Harris and Steve Di Giorgio :).
I am dying to see a 6 string version of this beast
Happy birthday Steve!!!
Ok now I want a fretless bass. That one. Great tone and the extra control over the mids is an excellent feature. I’m sure you can play a lot of different genres on this and not just Metal.
Looks good sounds great I want one
Favourite bassist favourite bass brand,it’s kind of perfect. And it’s a gorgeous instrument too! And I mean the bass.
This needs to be purchased…. I’m definitely investing!
I’m totally not a bassist in a sense that I have trained to be one, but any bassist I’m working with has to use this if we are playing together. There is a huge lack of respect for fretless, it’s a problem.
I am so curious what will come out of this model’s existence, this has a lot of great potential.
Awesome to hear him play some Vintersorg.
Sweet! Can’t wait for a 6 string version to release, but very grateful for this!
Is there really a 6 string version on the way?
@@seanhyena3769 no official word, the 6 is just more iconic for Steve I feel
The Explorer bass solo 😍😍😍😍
Yeah baby, Hippie Stevie DG with the sig!
Finally!!🤘🏾🤟🏾
You are very skilled damn
Awaiting to make my pre-order once Long and McQuade adds it.
Congrats Steve, this is long overdue!
Congratulations on the new sig model. My experience with ebonol is not good. Fender used it on a squire bass in a jaco style fretless jazz. It had fret lines and no matter what I did you could always feel and hear the fret lines. Hopefully Ibanez has nailed it properly. Love the sound of the new bass
About time Steve Digiorgio had a signature bass with a big brand, too bad he is not in the new Sadus album
THE PHILOSOPHER 😍😍
Man u got some wild technique!.
Well deserved!
Precious instrument. \m/
Sounds badass
A true old-school BOAR in addition -- too, a taste of new ideas, greetings...
Sounds damn good Steve!!!🤘🏾🔥🤘🏾🔥🤘🏾🔥
I need this.
Only Master!! Hail from brazil ...
